  • I thought the cello playing was magnificent, not too domineering and aggressive like many other interpretations I hear. Brahms needs to be passionate, romantic, and elegant, which both musicians accomplished very finely. And nothing like Bernstein to bring out the nuances that make this such an incredible piece of artwork. My dream would be to hear Heifetz and Rostropovich play this with Bernstein conducting at a bit faster tempo.

  • All Hail Bernstein! :)

  • This is awesome. Shame it's crackly D:

  • ahahahaha that guy on violin looks like napoleon dynamite xD

  • lol what a dumbass...how can you refer to Kremer as whipped cream? I guess you, hakmirchai, would be some dried up poo in comparison...brahms double doesn't get much better than this!

  • Kremer and Maisky are kind of like steak with whip cream. I'd like to hear Maisky play it with a fiddler with a guernari.

  • Magnificent so far. Remarkable soloists and the great Bernstein to hold court. This piece truly needs incomparable soloists to bring it off. Not just great fiddlers but remarkable artists. I find the tempo just a bit slow--not the soloists, but Bernstein's tuttis.

  • Absolutely superb Brahms by Kremer, Maisky, and Bernstein.

  • No.

  • 2:14-3-34......fantastic brhams

  • Or Mørk and Batiashvili!

  • Omg. Its better than Oistrakh-Rostro. For sure.

  • wiener philharmoniker is definitly the greatest orchester ever!

  • When I first listen to this record on "cassette tape", yes, "casestte tape", when I was young, I feel stunning and touched, no so much by Kremer's violin, but by Maisky's cello and Bernstein's control. This recording makes me love Brahm's Double much more than Beethoven's Triple. I started to collect various version of Double Concerto and no other combination can be compared to this one. Absolutely the best recording of Brahms' Double so far.

  • have you heard Heifetz/Feuerman?

  • Gidon Kremer looks goofy as hell but I absolutely love his playing and interpretations. Maisky his pretty sicknasty here himself

  • cello has a beautiful tone... very full yet controlled.

  • mükemmel

  • really amazing performance, i wish i were there when they played! maisky's contact to the string is amazing, the bow is glued to the string, and produces a wonderful sound. really something spectial!

  • Amazing video! I just saw/heard Maisky for the first time during this video...he blew me away

  • Kremer and Maisky - badass team!

  • Maisky is perfect in this clip - as usual.

  • Thanks, amazing stuff

  • i think your judgement is misguided by the quality of the video.

my cello teacher introduced me to Maisky, and i think he is one of the most talented cellist who ever lived.
