Eh, I've seen worse. I have seven of 'em: they're about the best built car on the planet. Put a straight edge to the block and the head to see if it's warped, but I doubt it. Make sure you blow out all that gasket material with compressed air before you do the rebuild.
basket case, sorry dude. if you had the bux, get a mazda rotary and find someone to mate the drive shaft (that was my "lotto dream" when i had my metro)
That's what happens when someone put plainwater in the radiator. The head gasket blew on the middle cylinder at 5 oclock and the right cylinder at 7 oclock. The corrosion on the steel part of the head gasket is severe. Chances are that the head is warped. It is repairable but I would bet that all water passages are corroded including in the head. How are the cylinder walls? Rusty? JDM engines are available for less than repairing this one. Pick-N-Pull charges $150 for a complete engine.
