@1coolguysuper well, the thing is more like this, about 15-18% of mexicans are white and castizos, 60% are mestizos and the rest of them are either indigenous or "cholos". But yeah, most of mexicans who live in the U.S. have usually more indigenous than european features, so that's why many americans don't see them as "multiracial" or "biracial", they just see them as "amerindians". But even if they have 1% of european blood, they are not fully indigenous anymore.

Mestizo today is used to refer to someone of Caucasian and Native DNA regardless of amount.
So if having 1% of European blood makes one not a full Native, then it should work the other way around,a Caucasian person with 1% Native blood is not a full Caucasian anymore.

That is why the census classification was changed to include white or black but American of Latin/Hispanic descent. The U.S. Census needs to put the mixed race categories of Latin America in the census such as Mestizo, Zambo, and Mulatto. Most Hispanics in the U.S. fall into the Mestizo category. White Hispanics for example are most of the Cubans in south Florida and the Argentineans. But, there are White Puerto Ricans, White Chileans, White Costa Ricans, White Uruguayans, there are Even White Mexicans, which would mean that they are fully or mostly European descent. This issure needs to be addressed.

This problem starts when race mixing begins. If people choose to, then it is their choice, but why do they often NOT teach their children about their backgrounds? I was trying to explain that my last name was not a just a "Mexican" name, because he was used to seeing Mestizo Mexicans with this name, he did not understand how I had this name and was White.

Sometimes I see more white, sometimes more Indian,.. now thats truly mixed! I've been reading up on Spain and it's people, the Moorish admixture was small, I just read that is was minimal. But yeah, most of mexicans who live in the U.S. have usually more indigenous than european features, so that's why many americans don't see them as "multiracial" or "biracial", they just see them as "amerindians". But even if they have 1% of european blood, they are not fully indigenous anymore.

Mestizo today is used to refer to someone of Caucasian and Native DNA regardless of amount.

They make up a minority in Mexico at about 17%. The George Lopez types look more Native American, even though George is 55% European. I read that most Mestizos from Latin America are more European than Amerindian, like 60% - 40% even though most look more Amerindian. But many look southern European.

The U.S. Census needs to put the mixed race categories of Latin America in the census such as Mestizo, Zambo, and Mulatto. Most Hispanics in the U.S. fall into the Mestizo category. White Hispanics for example are most of the Cubans in south Florida and the Argentineans. But, there are White Puerto Ricans, White Chileans, White Costa Ricans, White Uruguayans, there are Even White Mexicans, which would mean that they are fully or mostly European descent. This issure needs to be addressed.

The "Hispanic" terms acknowledges a linguistic origin or preference but says nothing about color. The government seems to refuse to believe that anyone who speaks Spanish cannot be white or black at all.

I was trying to explain that my last name was not a just a "Mexican" name, because he was used to seeing Mestizo Mexicans with this name, he did not understand how I had this name and was White.

Sometimes I see more white, sometimes more Indian,.. now thats truly mixed! I have all of my 16 Great-Grandparents information, so I am going to dig deep this year to get more information on their families... one of my favorite hobbies is genealogy.

I think its the fact that people looking straight at "white Mexicans", just see "whites" and don't have a clue. We have about 60,000 people. Some of us are lighter and some of us are darker. There are other communities of Spaniards in NY and Miami as well as California too. Also, when White Americans see my last name or hear me speak spanish, they question my Whiteness. Lol.

Upon the rule of the Moors in Spain, mixing between Moors and Spaniards were outlawed and made illegal. There were various studies done on the Moorish genetic impact on modern day Spaniards, and the findings were 10%-11% of the population were mixed with Moorish ancestry. @IslenoGutierrez When you replied to me saying. "I am merely trying to get the truth out and stop people from twisting history and spreading lies about my people. ", I reasoned that you considered it one of thse "lies" is that "spaniards" have darker skin, hair and eyes because of "black genes" introduced by the Moors.

@agentpositron That is not why Spaniards have olive skin. That is why I said it was a lie. It is incorrect information. The Moors weren't a Black group either, they were mostly comprised of Berbers, with some Arabs and a small minority of Black Africans. But Spaniards are adapted to their climate, so that is where the skin color comes in. Only 11% of the country has Moorish blood. Also, not all Spaniards are dark complected.

@IslenoGutierrez Uhuh. Tell that to those white people who won't give some of "your people" full membership into the white club. ---The Moors most certainly were black people. You can debate that with other white people because they are pretty well settled on this fact. I'm through debating such a minor point. If you fdo gain or have gained acceptance into the white race, you will be defeated. A white person = a white supremacist. No one MUST be white.

@agentpositron You are an apparent racist, so yes , I can be done debating this also. White people are not synonymous with White supremacy. White supremacy is not practiced by most White people. There is Black supremacy, it's called Black Panthers, Afrocentrists, and the NAACP. The Moors were not a Black racial group, it was a group of mostly non-Black North African Berbers, and a small minority of Arabs and Blacks.There's sources for self painted portraits of the Moors by the Moors themselves.

@agentpositron I don't have to TRY to be "accepted" in the White race, I AM White. Mostly Americans are ignorant about race, and in American schools they teach about the Moors. But they don't teach that the Moors were prohibited to mix with the Native Spaniards and most Muslims in Spain were Native Spaniards that were converted. They don't teach that 89% of Spaniards have NO Moorish Dna, that only 11% of Spaniards have Moorish Dna. So that is the source of the ignorance of your comment.

@IslenoGutierrez Well, taking into account the image your messages show, you are not white, you´re south american. However, I really thank you for clearing up the unfortunately common believe in any mixture between the Spaniards and the Moors.
