There isn't one. The Libs always want to implement total government control to make all the people "equal". Their communist idiocy will never work. It's the very thing that causes the case presented in the latter.

The problem is precisely that people aren't equal. Some people are more capable than others, but at the moment the dominant factor in how successful you will be is how successful and connected your parents are. Maybe adults should be forced to live with their lack of success, but should children be condemned based on the lack of opportunities their parents can provide? Society should be rewarding and promoting the best people, not the people who received the best hand-outs from their folks.

It just seems to me that all things being equal a family that is struggling to make ends meat will be more likely to break the law. Why? By my logic people who are desperate are more back into a corners and it follows that they have more reason to rebel.

its incorrect to judge 'difference' based on whether you're caught or not, isnt it just as important a defining factor for a person or group to describe their the thinking and self-control- how they imagine their needs and possible solutions or actions in any situation? this isnt necesarily a rich/poor divide, lots of upper-middle clas families in my experience have no emotional wisdom to pass on to their children, they got rich on screwing people over with financial careers. their gift is hate

I don't think that true. I think people barely making ends meet are more likely to hit their spouse, steal something, or do some violent out of stress and fright.

Some comfortable suburban family seems to me much more likely to send their kids to soccer games and buy their playstation 3.

now i haven't seen the full lecture, but this sounds very misleading.... what kind of intervention are we talking about here? we have both governmental and corporate interventions all the time in our lives. if interventions in the early stage of problem are so effective, why are things are the way they are? people really have to think seriously about this point.
