Alright.......right............stay bright.........tara! Just listened to the Radio2 documentary about POTP - great stuff with some very interesting facts! Fluff has to be the greatest dj ever, god bless you Alan.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I finally found the version I've been looking for. Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim remixed this for the Official UK Top 40 on BBC Radio 1 from 1997 to 1999.
Fluff took over from David Jacobs for POTP I think in 1962, up to then it went out on The Light Programme at 10.40, Saturday Night .I remember listening to it on WW 2 headphones in bed connected to a radio in my parents' bedroom !.DJ used I think a Harry James track but when this Brian Fahey track came in on Sunday afternoon it was quite radical and up to date, just suiting Fluff's personality. As Jim says it was ' updated ' as it was considered much later to sound ' old fashioned !.
@jimmytheferret - Unlike many commenters on this site, i respect your knowledge on this subject and stand corrected. Being only 50 years young I grew up listing to the later version and it is set in stone in my little mind - never the less - Great post !
i was lucky enough to meet brian fahey at his home in skelmorlie ayrshire. he owned the other 2 thirds of my sisters house.
a lovely gent. he died in april 2007 soon after the death of his lovely wife. he was a survivor of wormhoudt. where the ss gathered a number of bitish soldiers and massacared them.
he became a good friend and colleague of shirley bassey.
hi i'm glad you liked my comment. they were a really nice couple that my sister jacqui and her husband ron and my family were fond of. what a life they had...

@djonshore Are you sure you're not thinking of "Crash!" by the Propellerheads? Because that was used for a time.
FunkyM217 1 year ago
@FunkyM217 Crash! by the Propellerheads was used by Radio 1 from 1999 to early 2003, when Wes Buttons took over the helm of the chart DJ.
The Fatboy slim remix was used from the autumn of 1997 to 1999, I have recordings of it on Minidisc and tape.
