  • GREEEETINGS POP PICKERS........AND THEN OF COURSE THERES..........NOT ARF........God Bless ya Fluff

  • Anyone got the Brass Incorporated version from 1970 ? Its the one that I remember the most.

  • Alright.......right............stay bright.........tara! Just listened to the Radio2 documentary about POTP - great stuff with some very interesting facts! Fluff has to be the greatest dj ever, god bless you Alan.

  • Damn this takes me back... it's me age, you know.

  • Great job Jim! you can find one whole hour PICK of the POPS under the name of MrJaika1. Have fun. Greeting from Holland, Nico.

  • EXCELLENT !

  • who was the drummer for brass incorporated?

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. I finally found the version I've been looking for. Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim remixed this for the Official UK Top 40 on BBC Radio 1 from 1997 to 1999.

  • @djonshore Are you sure you're not thinking of "Crash!" by the Propellerheads? Because that was used for a time.

  • @FunkyM217 Crash! by the Propellerheads was used by Radio 1 from 1999 to early 2003, when Wes Buttons took over the helm of the chart DJ.

The Fatboy slim remix was used from the autumn of 1997 to 1999, I have recordings of it on Minidisc and tape.

  • Fluff took over from David Jacobs for POTP I think in 1962, up to then it went out on The Light Programme at 10.40, Saturday Night .I remember listening to it on WW 2 headphones in bed connected to a radio in my parents' bedroom !.DJ used I think a Harry James track but when this Brian Fahey track came in on Sunday afternoon it was quite radical and up to date, just suiting Fluff's personality. As Jim says it was ' updated ' as it was considered much later to sound ' old fashioned !.

  • Hi Jim...I've never heard this one...but it's a great song and video...thanks for sharing...thums up! :)

  • This is not the version used fro the chart coundown by "Fluff"

  • Oh yes it is. This was the original version used until about 1969 when he changed to the recording by Brass Incorporated.

  • @jimmytheferret - Unlike many commenters on this site, i respect your knowledge on this subject and stand corrected. Being only 50 years young I grew up listing to the later version and it is set in stone in my little mind - never the less - Great post !

  • This was, as I hope everybody knows, the signature tune of Alan Free, man's 'Top of the Pops' in the late 1950's.Great tune.

  • THATS MY NAME BRIAN FAHEY XDDDD

  • was this sampled by the propellerheads for the song crash?

  • It was a re-recording!

  • Stay tuned Pop Pickers..

  • Top tune of the century. You can't touch this for grooviness. Not Arf

  • does anybody know where i can find the more modern version they use today?

  • They've got a up to date version of this in a current Moben advert. Good song but the advert is fecking terrible.

  • A great tribute to a true pro.

Don't make DJs like this anymore!

  • brilliant

  • Fantastic tribute to a broadcasting legend.

  • Not 'arf.

  • That's right!
