This is Jim, the builder. As for stability, bear in mind that it was pretty windy that day, and this thing is a handful in the wind. Pitch oscillation isn't normally a problem, but it's somewhat loose in the yaw axis.
Jim - Very Nice. Seems unstable around the elevator axis though. Does your setup allow for DCP (Differential Collective Pitch)? If so, I recommend putting a gyro (elevator axis) which keeps the heli level by applying corrections through DCP.
The CH-47 is set up for DCP, and I have gyros for both pitch and yaw. In addition to the gusty wind that day, I was getting some radio glitches. In calm conditions, the heli is stable in pitch.
What the hell? Im really surprised you didnt get any blade strikes there! the blades were close enough as it was, and when u servo's kicked in to turn the chopper should of just fell out the sky, must be really well built for that not to happen!
I love to see these thing flying over, the sound of them can olny be discribed as AWSOME. You know a chinook is coming long before you see it, beautiful model you have there.
Yeh..I too crewed on the hooks...I flew at Ft.Hood,Carson,ROK,Rucker,Hawaii,Cambell,Saudia Arabia.I loved the simulated engine failure manauvers at Ft.Rucker....
FUCKING AWSOME man damn!!!

I'm glad my pilots flew a little better than that when I was crewing on those bad boys! Chinooks don't fly, they beat the air into submission!

"Chinooks don't fly, they beat the air into submission!" - LOL What a line! You should be a copy writer!
Great job building that yourself Jim. Twister have only just released a production model but have cheated by using a stabilized dual co-axle design.
