  • Holy shit, he swings pretty fucking hard...

  • man that pose in 0:20 has to be something out of a movie. lol love how he looks so carefree xD

  • I dont like gloves either. Cant get a good feel of the club.

I threw my glove away after two years of playing and never looked back.

  • Fred is an awesome golfer, love his swing and his attitude, what a pro.

  • A lot of it is his ability to let his shoulders follow and support his arm swing rather than dragging his arms through impact with shoulders. If you can freeze it halfway down, look how far back his shoulders are staying while his arms swing down on the right path and the hips have cleared--huge differential between hips and shoulders.

  • @emncaity This is something I have been able to teach myself with the original swingrite aid. Very amazing, to say the least. I can get it to deploy with the setting at #1, but have yet to get that speed onto a ball. For me, it feels like the second my shoulders unwind early the power just goes out the window. the power is all the ability to stabilize your body and give the clubhead that vicious snap at the bottom using hand and forearm strength. everything the body does is reactionary.

  • he has the fastest hips in pga tour

  • look at his hips...... no WTF not like that look how they rotate uhhhh you know what screw u guys i'm gonna go watch golf channel

  • @devlins10 i hope you know him swinging it easily is an illusion almost, freddys foot work is nothing of ease

  • want a nice swing? foot work, effortless? hip turn

  • WOW talk about smooth like a centrefold's ass

  • The only man that can still rock a visor.

  • @jackhbradford Luke Donald does an okay job of it I think.

  • Copy this swing and can you can play golf forever

  • Freddie is proof positive that if you have great tempo, you can overcome what many people call swing "flaws." I freaking love watching Freddie swing!

I don't think many golf teachers would advocate learning Freddie's swing exactly. But every single one of them WOULD advocate copying his tempo. If you have a smooth tempo like that, it WILL make your swing better. No matter what you swing like.

  • he neva made it big cause he jut ply dah game

  • the club head is off the ground when the swing starts.

  • Even at full throttle Fred looks like he's half asleep ...he's so laid back...

  • Happy 50th Fred

  • Here's a natural golf swing like Bobby Jones and Sam Snead. No forced motions from Freddy. The question remains of why he never won big like Tiger, Jack, Arnie, etc.??? Anybody know the answer to this one?

  • because he cant putt to save his life. he may not have any forced motions in his swing but watch him next time he putts

  • Freddie has never been a stronger putter. The biggest reason for this is because of his ailing back. He was never able to put in the necessary practice time in due to the excruciating pain he has endured over the years. If it weren't for his bad back I think he would have won a good 5+ majors.

  • @BourneAccident freds hes too nice to win consistently

  • His swing is orgasmic.......

  • la de da da de da da. Hey I'm Fred Couples. I hardly swing the club and hit it 300+ with ease. I wish you could do the same thing. Excuse me I have a call from some playmate again. how boring.

  • Fred looks like he is putting hardly any effort into his swing, but he hits it so far! Amazing!

  • If you watch Freddie on the course he really does swing pretty hard, it just looks laid back on TV. Also his shoulder turn is absolutely enormous, which adds to that laid back perception.

  • I agree with this. It looks easier than Ernie Els' swing.

  • No doubt a pretty swing. Couples' trademark is how high he brings his right elbow (see 0:15). It's something that most pros try to guard against (you'll see them doing the glove drill, where they put a glove under the right shoulder pit, and make sure they do not drop it on the back swing). Freddie swings with abandon, it's pretty and it works for him, but not advisable for most.

  • LOL, that should be "arm pit".

  • Es uno de los mejores swings de todos los tiempos

  • the only player whose left hand is as tan as the other

  • I thinks it's because his hands are so active that he needs the increase feel on the club

  • He has the best swing out there.

  • What a beautiful swing

  • My God, that man is GORGEOUS! His swing to!

  • has the smoothest swing out there.

  • He has always appeared to have nearly all his weight on his toes yet he maintains near perfect balance...how does he do it dammit!?!

  • mr smooooooooth!! such a pretty swing!

  • he moves through the ball so well, awesome tempo and such a late hit. You can hear the snap from his massive club head speed he generates, a pure hitter regardless of what the text book says, pure.

  • There's another thing Fred does different: his hip moves farther to the left, past his left foot.

  • Hey don't be so defensive. He does a LOT OF THINGS that aren't recommended but it works so well. I've watched Fred's swing so much because I love it, and I incorporated the flying elbow (which is the KEY to his fluid swing throwing motion) and past parallel looping position at the top. Vijay said this year he was working on doing the same thing. Lighten up, but if you want to get pissed off, I'll give you something: Fred can't putt worth a damn.

  • Who was this directed to?

  • SWEEEEEEEEET!!! how cool is that swing? the prettiest swing ever!! the tempo is Piccassoish.

  • I get a kick out of people pointing out what Couples does "wrong". He hits the ball a mile, he is very relaxed over the ball and his tempo, rhythm and timing are a thing of beauty. He has zero thoughts about mechanics when over the ball. The loop, or steep backswing and shallow downswing gets the club to the ball on the inside. He has a strong grip, stands open to the ball and hits a fade. It definitely works for him

  • bullcrap, he is from iraq, you donkeyrapingshiteater

  • Racist. Have you fun to post stupid comments on youtube? LoL, get better friends.

PS: Very nice golf swing :D

    MfG - ihkawiss

  • You're a twat. Whatever colour.

  • Absolutely the most beautiful and fluid swing ever seen in modern pro golf.

    Freddy's it...

    MIP

  • though some of the positions in the swing are a bit off, he has the best tempo of any player out there along with Ernie Els

  • When a guy named Jack joined the tour everybody criticized his flying right elbow too. I think he went on to win a few tournaments.

  • lol yea no kiddin

  • what counts is where he is at impact, not how he got there........

  • Bunch of things "wrong" with Fred.

    Flying elbow

    Right leg goes straight

    Club way past parallel

Feet are moving and bouncing around too much

I don't see the big loop he used to have, perhaps it's the angle.

Since Fred hits the ball the furthest with the least effort, maybe this is just the most efficient way to swing a club.

I find the loop to work well for me as well (but not nearly as well as Fred). Anybody else like the loop?

  • such a smooth swing i wish i had one like that

  • YOU DA MA... sorry.

Maybe not THE best swing of all time, but certainly up there with the best.

  • 'Boom Boom' has the schmoooothest swing in the history of the grand game!

    YOU DA MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

  • The 'weird jutter' is the so called 'magic move.' It's the shift of weight to the left while moving the right elbow in to his side. Harvey Penick would talk about this I believe.

  • most gracefull swing in the orld. no one can be as gracefull as boom boom. beautiful!!!

  • his rhythm makes his swing so beautiful. i need some more grace in my swing...

  • he has a really weird judder in his legs just at the top of the back swing, but it kinda blends in with his swing and makes it look awesome!>

  • Yeah, you don't see it from the front. I think he's trying to transfer his weight and bang those hips through as quickly as possible so he can generate all that clubhead speed.

  • he has the same release as mike austin!

  • I noticed just now that he kinda stops at the top of his swing for a split second

  • The key to Fred's graceful swing is his thoroughly relaxed tempo

  • same level as Els

  • I love his swing.

He doesn't put a whole lot of effort in his swing

but he hits the ball a mile

  • Freddie was certainly blessed with a great swing!!!

  • you arent blessed with a swing, you develop it through hard work. this swing wasnt created out of thin air.
