  • lol at 2:38 when they both look at him and he's staring I laughed out loud cuz it's so awkward!

  • the way they argue is humorous for some reason.

  • Stellan Skarsgård 's swenglish makes me cringe every time he opens his mouth.

  • @bajholster still a damn solid actor

  • @wrath231 Yeah in silent movies. Maybe. ;p

  • Robin Williams is the truth! This guy can do silly and serious. My man...

  • Martin Vanger O_____o

  • It sucks to be the kid...

  • mathematical dick hahahaha

  • Its not about you u mathematical dick!!! I love that line

  • wow,,, all you losers spend hours on youtube i bet, trying to prove eachother wrong and bash eachother psychologically, no wonder americas going down the tubes...meanwhile china and india laugh their butts off at us and think of their strategy to take us over..go ahead keep writing you page long comments

  • @idmji89 ironic that you just wrote a page long comment...

  • @Sully0020 zinggg

  • The Oscar, the Pulitzer, the Nobel prizes, the Palme d'Or ect; it's probably true enough. If you win an important prize you will get your own ass kissing disciples.

  • PS IF YOU'RE ON SOME KIND OF EGO TRIP THEN YOU'LL FIND IT HARD TO CONENTRATE ON YOUR EQUATIONS... so all the goddamn misery-industry psychobabbling, metrosexual FAIRY control-freak psych and art students can just go and KILL themselves RIGHT NOW (WHY SHOULD WE SUPPORT YOU WHEN ALL YOU DO IS CONSTRUCT A LIVING HELL FOR EVERYONE ELSE?)

  • @ortega24024 why are you so angry? No really really wants you to be upset like you are. I don't know you, no one here does, no one can really judge you, nor can you judge anyone else. I'm not saying this as a rebuff, but rather, because it's upsetting to see someone this angry over wall posts. It's upsetting even to the most jaded of us who might claim otherwise. No need for it man.

  • Yes, THINK about it: HOW do we do that? By being a schizzing fashion-victim emo wimpy Hatton-wannabe loser who can barely count? (f'ing nutters... ALL of them) By running around like a nutter on a spy film (or just a regular nutter with their goddamn credit cards, negitive equity and World of Fucking Warcraft)? NO: We do it by being totally calm and collected (even in the face of destitution and academic pressure from the highest level)...and by being 100 times SANER than the shrinks.

  • THINK about it: How do we achieve what we ALWAYS do [building the internet (then defending it from relentless scams, porno and daft political theories), TOTAL freedom from nerves, anger, ego, frustration... even in the face of shameless greed, murder and schizing from the banks and revolting plastic laddetes (just ask the pigs)... JUST F'EM AND LEAVE 'EM (what I want/what they think they want..better than being accused of being gay, hey?..only problem is that they come back beggin for more)] :

  • ... hanging out enjoying every decent thing under the sun with REAL gents and ladies (marines who know they NEED guys like me, non-corrupt cops, non-nutty professors, bank manager's wives in tango classes)... as for the mindless masses (full of Hollywood bullshit, watered-down emotions, hangovers and prozac, impotence, trolling): every single 1 of them ends up in a pathetic drooling heap (usually without me having to floor them). Forget ALL the fruitcake stigma (much worse than racism).

  • Well at least this Hollywood crap is a bit more realistic than most. It's much tougher in real life you know (false arrests, negative pay, suspicions off "authorities" EXACTLY when I'm totally at peace with myself and anyone good around me... e.g. when I'm solidly getting on with my JOB doing 100 pages of maths a day (whether in a UK-scum free, booze-free, economy-free bedroom... or at the Oberwolfach Institute in Germany). When I want to chill I have NO PROBLEM whatsover...

  • "Daddy and Mommy are having a little discussion about you now, son. Could you excuse us?" This happens every day at millions of households, those parents pushing for little Einsteins/Cindy Crawfords and not letting their kids the confidence TO BE WHO THEY... ARE.

  • hanging out with a bunch of retarded gorillas, ha, ha.

  • superb acting, especially williams.

  • i love the interaction between gerry and shaun.

  • Amazing scene, so well written! But imagine if the title had been awkwardly worked in:

Sean: "It's not about you it's about the boy!"

Lambeau: "What are you doing, hunting for good will or something?"

Sean: "Yes Jerry... I suppose I am good will hunting"

  • the fields medal, the fields medal, ha, ha.

  • Comment removed

  • mathematical dick .. hhhhhhh

  • I love it when Robin says "the Fields Medal, the Fields Medal!"

  • @sagan1976 Press 7

  • mathematical dick

  • I always hear him repeating that triplet "he can handle the problems, he can handle the work, and he obviously handled YOU!" that is a superior piece of writing, right there ladies and gents. And this scene is so convincing because these two guys argue like real friends, like real people. When will walks in and sees that's its probably a total shock that others value his future that much.

  • @droid740 I feel the same way! Especially when Will hears them arguing i always felt like he may have thought, "Damn, these two guys really care about me!"

  • I wish someone would give me that chance to say what Robin Williams said @2:15 haha Classic

  • I think just about every scene from this film is genius

  • Robin williams, not much of a comedian but one damn fine actor...

  • "He was abandoned by the people who were supposed to love him most" that's the nail on the head.

  • This is my favorite scene but no one ever speaks of it.

  • I love how all it takes to stop a argument is to let the person of interest walk in the room to see what he has affected.....

  • In many o the words that he's saying you can clearly hear Skarskårds Swedish accent :D

  • HERE'S YER FACKIN DOUBLE BURGER!

  • haha hanging with retarded gorrillas thats hilarious, thats exactly what my mom told me? this movies so real in so many ways

  • 3 people failed Calculus

  • Gosh, Stellan IS viking.

  • 3 people are math-a-matical dicks

  • Lambeau just doesn't want Will to regret not taking his opportunity because he thought he was somehow above trying. What he doesn't understand is that Will is too fragile, emotionally, for things to be that simple - only Sean does, because he was abused as a child too. And as Will's therapist, Sean's not at liberty to discuss what Will tells him, so he can't just explain it to Lambeau.

  • it's not about you you mathematical dick!

  • I can't stand that mathematician, he's so up himself and arrogant. Stuck in his own little ivory tower world just like some lecturers at a certain university of a state called queensland I go to. that's right, f@€k uq.

  • @superheronumber1 Actually Lambeau (the mathematician) is right in his own way. Sean has a major chip on his shoulder and HE'S the one who's insecure about his lack of success. Lambeau isn't criticising Sean's lack of success; he's criticising Sean's attitude that if you're successful you must be a prick and that you're better off settling for the mundane. Chuckie later says pretty much the same to Will - that it's stupid to sit on a winning lottery ticket because you think its better to be poor

  • @CanadaRedBear swing and a miss.

  • @bypass12345 Huh?

  • the last shot of the scene is beautiful. You forget that Will is some prodigal genius and all you see is some oblivious kid amongst parents fighting for what's best for him.

  • wow great scene

  • Anyone know where I can see the scene, where this two are arguing in a bar. Robin describes the uni-bomber. Love that scene.

  • Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Stellan Skarsgard, Ben Affleck, and Minnie Driver... All of them had Oscar worthy performances in my book. To this day, my mind is still blown by how incredible this film is. Sooo Sooo good =)

  • stellan is a great actor, so is alex

  • this is so ironic, Robin Williams is funny when he's in Drama genre but in Comedy films all ever hear is crickets. "You mathematical dick" priceless

  • @TheCoffeeNut711 Your a fool. Go away.

  • They raised the pitch in their voices? HA...

  • MATHEMATICAL DICK

  • you know what jerry? shove the medal up your fuckin ass! because i don't give a shit about your medal because i knew you before you were a mathematical god. when you were pimple-faced and homesick and didn't know what side of the bed to piss on

    PWNED!

  • the fields medal the fields medal!

  • "Shove your medal up your fuckin ass"

    "You mathematical dick" :D

  • i love robin williams, but this is the first movie that i see him cursing in his role XD

very interesting. but he acts professionally, its almost as if im standing right dere

  • This scene is continued with youtube.com/watch?v=92D15qtI_Gk

  • i love this scene...I don't know any other movie that is so similar to my own life.

  • @matnitram uhh, not calling you a liar or anything, but did you actually just say that your IQ is like 180 or whatever?

  • Robin Williams rules!!!

  • Lol "I can't stand that look in your eye." Haha Robin Williams is the best gotta love him. Also gotta love the evil glare the college profossor gave him after he said it haha. But my favorite line from Williams is. "I know who I am and i'm proud of what I do it was a constance choice I didn't fuck up!" So deep and true hard working people need to be like Williams and say it like he does to people who don't even try in life!

  • @RockPete8 isn´t it conscience choice??? Don´t know just asking?

  • @RockPete8 True that...better to wear out than to rust out.

  • i wont see you fuck him up!!! like your trying to fuck up!! me right now!!! i love that line!

  • I completely underestimated Stellan Skarsgard in a role like this. I was talking out of my ass. he was fantastic. As was Robin Williams in his Oscar winning performance.

  • Loved this film. Loved this scene, excellent acting.

2:27 Stellan is really scary for a second as he leaps up, face twisted in anger. Looks like he's about to punch Williams in the face.

  • 2:07 till 2:09 hahaha that look

  • IQ vs. EQ

  • It's about the boy!

  • the fields medal! the fields medal! ahahaha

  • fucking great actors

  • this is the best scene in the movie, Robin Williams's best.

  • great scene; good acting. shows how a therapist and colleague professor view the same person differently.

  • Wow...powerful scene...brilliant acting.

  • the problem with Jerry is that he kept trying to push Will. It's good for some people but with Will it doesn't work that way. The more he pushed Will the more Will kept pushing back. Jerry's a smart man but he doesn't understand pychological barriers like Shawn does.

  • ...and jason bourne steps into the scene

  • At the end, Will kinda looks...scared?

  • When stellan Skarsgård says failor, jail and obviously you can kind of hear that he's Swedish. (: But he's still a brilliant actor !

  • you mathematical dick x100 lol

  • @PunkMartyr lol i crack up every time i hear that line

  • you mathematical dick lol

  • hehe gerry also plays will turners dad in pirates.

  • it's not about u you mathematical dick

  • mathematical dick lol

  • The scene between these two men is good!

  • you mathematical dick!

  • HAHAHAH RIGHT ON!!!

  • I love stellen skesgarrd, brilliant actor

  • i agree miloChecker!

it is a great movie and a powerful scene with great acting :D

  • it's my favourite movie.

and i think this is the best scene of it.

  • mine as well but i love the scene at the park.

  • Hearing Williams curse and to have the professior know the truth reminded me of Lewis Black. Today, Lewis Black is a greatly witty comedian.

  • ...

  • doesnt everybody walk around with this shield nowadays??

  • Without those nice subtitles I would have no idea of what they were talking about.

  • i soooo love this movie <3

  • I love the scene and I respect the movie and the dramatic acting, but I fell down laughing when Williams called him a "mathematical DICK!"

    haha!

  • Comment removed

  • perfect acting like on the day it was invented.

  • awesome movie!

  • its so funny hearing robin williams cuss like this.

  • "Because anyone of them, if he asked them to, would take a FUCKING bat to your head, thats called loyalty!!!!"

    <3

  • One of the best scenes in the movie, both Stellan and Robin is great here.

  • he's not you , you geuss that !!

    really true.

  • I luv it! Some people just don't like to be pushed! Just let me be, let him be! Some people like to be pushed!

  • fuck... this movie... if I ever get the chance to be in a movie that could be compared to Good Will Hunting, I'll die somewhat happier. hats of to Damon and Affleck

  • man, this was a strong scene.

  • "Shut the medal up your fuckin' ass" - This scene is awesome!

  • 'Its not about you, you mathematical dick'..thats legendary

  • I break up laughing whenever I hear Robin Williams yelling it at Stellan Skarsgaard and then Stellan just glares at him.

  • Stellan sounds like an Irish fellow here.

  • sp what history did the two had? seems a little complicated

  • they were room mates. Lambeau (Stellan) got real famous and won a bunch of awards while Maguire (Williams)went on and married his wife and had a family.

  • thanks

  • Either point is good. They reason out based from what they have been through. This is a very good movie

  • "It's not about you, you mathematical prick!"

    AMEN

  • it's actually mathematical dick.....

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah go Robin Williams!

  • the language was bad cause hollywood wanted the language in their it was probably one of the edited versions to the original written format. still funny though.

  • i <3 stellan. he is so sexxy !!!

    Go win the argument gorgeous!!

    LOVE HIM

    <3<3<3<3<3

  • ohhh fight fight fight fight lol Go Stellan i know shut up moron oh well i like Stellan............go stellan

  • Both men were obviously in an emotional state. They were talking from the heart and yelling. I don`t think their swearing in any way relates to their IQ. It relates to their emotional state at the time. Both men are calm and calculated individuals but here they lose their calculated fronts. That was why they swore

  • Ooga001: You obviously missed the point of the movie if you cannot grasp the simple delicacy of this scene. As Woody Allen once said, "Intellectuals can prove that they are brilliant, but at the same time prove that they have absolutely have no idea what's going on".

  • Yea but his character grew up in a rough working class neighborhood. I know plenty of lectures from certain areas who still use colloquial expressions and slang - depending on who their speaking too.

  • That's a terribly delluded viewpoint you have.

  • maybe ur right

  • "there vocabulary" pwned

  • what? now cursing is not something "high IQ" people do?

  • Stellan <3

  • It was...until the Abel Prize.

  • you mathematical dick!!!

  • Hahaha, so classic...

  • the retarded gorillas line cracks me up every time

  • I love it when those two argue. They prented to be old friends but they really hate/resent each other. Awesome movie.

  • They get along in the end

  • Too bad that shooter in the VA Tech shootings did not have a sensitive psychologist like Sean here. Too bad. That gunman really needed a person like Sean to heal his inner demons.

  • so true man, so true...it's ashame

  • So true. We need to understand the minds of our friends so these things cannot happen again. Perhaps if the VA Tech shooter had some friends who took time with him... P.S. Robin Williams BEST performance.

  • I agree....he deserved his Oscar for it.

  • I assume your talking Robin Williams? I am not a fan at all of Robin (as a comedian)but he played out his role better than anyone possibly could have, especially the lake scene. Oscar, absolutely!

  • Mathmatical dick! hehehe. I see why! Jerry only cares about numbers, not feelings like Sean the shrink the does. Will Hunting is a genius beyond Jerry's presitgious Fields Medal (heck, Will could get the Nobel Prize EASILY), yet....Will lacks the normal human feelings that Sean helps to fill. Powerful powerful powerful humanity stuff here!

  • I agree yo! What a fucking nerd Jerry is! Sean is for real, sensitive to human nature, dat's why Will needs him B4 he cracks like the guy in the Virginia Tech shootings.

  • There is no Noble Prize for mathematics. The Fields medal is the highest award for mathematics.

  • zadeh79, that comment you just made was anti-intellectual. the whole point of the movie is to get this brilliant guy to get his act together. it has nothing to do with murderers or rapists. retard.

  • FUCK YOU PALSY! How is that for intellectual?

  • The movie is so anti-intellecutal. If Will doesn't show up to lay bricks one day, I'm sure his boss can find two guys down the block to make up for his work. Of course, 'scientist' with his 'potential' isn't so easy to replace. And who's bricks is he layin' down anyway......a murder, a rapist? Maybe the NSA is better after all.

  • You are a retard. The real kind.

  • "mathematical dick"...that was a good one...LOL

  • What happened after Will showed up?

I want to see this movie SO bad!

  • why does the audio sound an octave too high?

  • Matt and Ben wrote such a great script. They may never do it again but man did they get this one right. Awesome movie, excellent acting on all parts.

  • that's beautiful acting right there...enjoy to watch it

  • So great.

  • damn this movie is great

  • I really like that argument between Sean and Gerald.

  • stellan skarsgard is THE MAN ! :]

    good scene ^^
