Just tonight I saw Doy O'dell speak two lines in the movie Auntie Mame. He also was in Tight Spot with Ginger Rogers. The sweetest guy. In 1971 he was singing in a dumpy joint on the corner of Alvarado and 8th street across from McArthur Park in L.A. He deserved better.
So many of these West Coast C&W artists have gone down the memory hole. There was a whole separate music scene there, and it seems like we have only Dwight Yoakum left to show for it.
