God! Is it so hard to believe, that it takes so fucking long, because HL1 is so fucking long? Long game long development, it's so simple. Valve needed 6 years to make HL2, and HL2 is far shorter than HL. And Gabe Newell/Valve don't take anything over of this project

Half Life has 19 chapters. HL2 only 14. Moreover, the maps in BM are by far bigger than in Half Life.

It took more then 3 years for half life 2 to come out.....

They are trying to bring the world of half life 1 to half life 2's engine in its full glory, thus remaking the game completely.

Half Life 2 took Valve 6 years, they were paid for their work, and didn't have to do HL2 in their spare time.

Until now, the team behind the mod needed 5,5 years to remake it. They are not getting paid, do it in their free time. They are doing their job very well.

What exactly are Freeman's personality, feelings and internal struggles? The whole point of the character is his lack of characterization, so the player will fill in the blanks...

Half-Life source is exactly the same as Half Life, except that it runs off the Source engine instead of the older Goldsrc engine. Black Mesa Source is completely redone, using higher quality models and audio as well as all of the AMAZING graphical improvements Valve has come up with in the past few years, like HDR lighting.
