Oh man, I was in Les Slyphides as a corps... my leg always felt like it was falling off from standing or kneeling on it for so long, and the arms hurt so bad from holding them in the air for so long. These poor chickas in the back. lol. Pretty ballet, but it's like hell to do it.

Same thing I was thinking, it must take well conditioned muscles and discipline to stay in one pose like that for so long.
