I have a 66 ford galaxie as well that i bought out of someones yard for $700.
Got a few questions for you where did you get reproduction bumpers because i cant find them. Also what color is that it looks awesome btw excellent job
Some parts for 66s esp in the northeast are hard to come by ( door handles, console, etc). Our donor cars were very beat up and cheap ($700 for the gray and blue one, $400 for the convertible) so we just spent the bucks to get a few good parts. The wheels are 17" american racing, tires are falkens. good luck with your project!
Great car, I have two questions: 1. Why so many donor cars? 2. Can you comment on the size (rims and tires) that you added there? I'm looking for tires for my 1966 Galaxie 500 and those look great! Thanks.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, IF YOU WANT TO SELL THIS HOMEMADE FORD GALAXIE "XL" CAR... I AM VERY INTERESTED! I AM LOOKING FOR A "FRAME-OFF RESTORED" 1966 GALAXIE 500 "XL" HARDTOP WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ANY INFORMATION (FROM ANYONE) WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANK YOU, Dale Blythe @ (731)644-0316 Paris, Tennessee 38242
My dads first new car was a 66 500 in forrest green, bench seat, black interior and 352 v8 automatic. Had a bad rust problem which he never addressed. Was stolen from a gas station that did repairs back in 90 but I have no doubt that he wouldnt spend the money to get it back to proper condition. However, the 62 bird he bought used in 70 is still in the garage(has not moved from there since he parked it in 70) is mine if I fix it...and I shall :D
I love the color it's unique. The motor looks great too. I like how Ford labels what the car is....such as the 460 decal that you put on and the valve covers and all.
Great work guys spot on:) bdw can you tell me where did you get brake disc conversion for your car becouse im looking for a set but without luck:( i also have 66 galaxie fastback
@tiksom you can install the front disks off of any 77-79 tbird or cougar, thats what we did on my 66 galaxie and theyve worked great for past 6 yrs! ...whole deal cost me 400 including the labor! parts car was 200 of that! THEN SOLD IT FOR SRAP AND RECOUPED 150.00!
What a nice cool ride it came out of it! I hope this vid will keep me motivated to get my own 2dr ht-66 on the road some day!.. But my car is in a really bad condition and needs a total restoration ..
thts exactly like mine except in way better condition but idk wat kind it is ...... ltd? or xl cuz mine has the slashes behind the window theres a vid of it (slideshow) on my page
(bench seat/column shift to buckets/console shift) you're correct that the LTD has a different c pillar badge, the 500, 500XL and 7 litre versions have the 3 slashes on the c pillar...
Beautiful beautiful beautiful Galaxie, I have a 66 Galaxie 500 four door, a 66 two door with a built 427 or 460 is my dream, that is a slick lookin car man, nice job!

The 7 litre ragtop must have been too far gone for you to make it a second project. That model is quite rare

My adoptive parents brought me home in a 666 xl which I bought off them at 16. A great strong car. Congrats on a job so well done.
