I went into my 17YO son’s room yesterday to retrieve some magazines he borrowed, but I was mystified by a bizarre new ‘trophy’ I noticed on one of his shelves.
It was in the shape of a man standing over a kneeling woman (both naked) with his fist raised in triumph & was “Awarded by the Girls of [his High School]” for being “VOTED THE CUMSHOT KING OF 2011”. I wasn’t aware of him being especially gifted in any sports or games. Does anyone know what on earth this might mean?
i like how no one gives two shits about the Oscars, but as soon the hosts do something bad its like first priority. Personally they did an excellent job, people need to chill the fuck out without the hosts I would've found it hard to stay awake.
The 37.6 million viewers not just considered with the host, it's also considered the nominee were interested or not, the decoration and presenters, the speech when winning the oscar and others many many condition! Otherwise, Anne was fabulous, especially singing and the viewers were not low, better then 80th and 81th oscars!
I've just seen MTV Awards and Lady Gaga as a drag achieve where Franco failed. First, she keeps her character all the show. She was Joe and imitation was good enough to convience people. She was comic, lines were appropriate.
I feel the Oscars should be a bit more fun like they were this year, not all stuffy with hosts that have rods shot up their asses, moving around like fucking puppets, I feel the energy Anne brought to the Oscars with her youth was very rejuvenating and James....well James could've done better, but he's charming enough so wtf ever but that's just my opinion, this was the first Oscar ceremony I stayed up for, through commercials, and into the bitter end!
@AngelWitch93 During the Oscars, I was on Twitter and I was the only one in my crowd to defend James Franco. I didn't know this actor except Spider Man because I'm not gay, I don't smoke weeds and I'm not young people who did stupid things. (In 127 Hours nobody knew where the guy was) But, when I saw him as a drag, I didn't laugh. I was suprised. What's the joke ? I didn't know (I made a recent research) that he was saying : Maybe I'm just gay,( or maybe just stupid).
Some people think he was stoned, probably because his only big success in box office as a lead actor (co-starring Seth Rogen) is Pineapple Express. He played a stupid dope dealer, so stoned that it was difficult to him to count until three.
FRANCO: Me in a drag is not funny. If he consider it's not funny, why he did that two times before the Oscars ? One time, in a front of a magazine (you can see somewhere on the net), and second time during Sundance Festival last year. He had a blonde wig and performed with a drag queen.
james franco is amazing, i hate that everybody was saying he was stoned. Both presenters had a script to read and a way to act so why were people slating them for their performance?
@Sophee1415 They tried something new. They thought it could be a great idea to be on Twitter. You know, they wanted to be fashioned, but people tweets a lot of studipities during this show. I remembered, I was on Twitter during this show and I received retweets who's saying that he seemed stoned. Twitter is a social media, and it's like our society, you know, you can find the best and the worst.
PLAYBOY: Some might question how seriously you took co-hosting the Oscars show ?
FRANCO: When they asked me to do it, I laughed and said, “How am I going to get out of this? They knew I could rehearse only on weekends because of school, but how much do you have to rehearse? They told me they knew I wasn’t Chris Rock and that they had designed the show around me.
PLAYBOY: How did it go so wrong?
FRANCO: It’s hard to talk about because it’s like assigning blame—not a fun thing to do.
Seriously, I love anne hathaway but James Franco probably would've done better had he been alone or something because she was overly-energetic she seemed to be trying wayyyy too hard and so James just seemed like he didn't care next to her but I think had he been alone he would've done much better!
Billy Crystal was the best Oscar host by far... He was hast a natural at it.. Also he's s comedian.. I feel good comedians make the best hosts... They are naturally funny, they have been in front of audiences and can read them well, and they know how to deliver jokes...
James doesn't even smoke weed or smoke in general. He has stressed that a million times in numerous interviews. He did mention that he never sleeps and that he's grumpy because of it. His own brother even mentioned his strange sleeping habits, like how he never goes to bed. Stop assuming everyone does drugs just because they are laid back or because YOU are a druggy and misery loves company.
@THISandTHISandTHAT You're probably right ! But, Oscars is a big show, 40 millions people regarding. For people like me who didn't really know James Franco except Spider man, he scrap an occasion to have a large audience (dress as Marlyn Monroe was a stupid idea). And that's probably why they changed the screenplay of The Rise Of Planet of the Apes. And if he has problem with sleeping (New York Times said he's the man who never sleep), that's his reponsability to find a solution.
@abeille344 I don't think he gave a damn. I didn't either, which is why I didn't watch it. James is into school and acting and directing. He does what he wants, clearly not for money or fame since he already has that. He had that "I don't give a fuck" look written all over his face and I applaud him for that. The Oscars is not that important to everyone. People are acting like he's some sort of important political figure who is obligated to give the people what they want. Get over it! LOL.
@THISandTHISandTHAT Oscars, not important ? He was very happy to host the Oscars, don't you remember ? Look Jimmy Kimrmel when he announced it ! If he's in school now, good for him, but he wanted to be an actor and was very proud of his performance in 127 Hours. But in fact, most of his movies were flop. His quote is low because something missing with this actor. And he's always doing or saying stupidities. Teaching movies at university doesn't mean he's intelligent, he's actor since 12 years.
@abeille344 He obviously wasn't as happy as you thought he was going to be, now was he?
I never said he was "intelligent", that's your own word. I said that he seems to care more about college than anything, even when he has money and popularity. Just goes to show you, that he obviously doesn't care about the Oscars. Accept it, he didn't give a flip. A LOT of people didn't care man. Times are changing. I think you're probably old and stubborn and stuck in the past. Not trying to be mean either.
@abeille344 And my goal was not to insult you. My argument is the truth. People just didn't care about the Oscars the way they used to (even if they sat through it). Not saying this a good thing or bad thing, it's just that things are different now. Let's be cliche about this and blame it on the economy? I don't care either way and neither did Franco.
@THISandTHISandTHATWhen Franco took the job, he seemed excited to do so, saying it was a no-risk proposition, but as he explains to Playboy last issue, he knew as the show approached that it probably wasn't going to be such a hit. I said to the producer, 'I don't know why you hired me.'"Chief amongst Franco's complaints was the bit in which he came out dressed like a very unflattering Marilyn Monroe, a scene in which he was clearly unhappy to participate.
@THISandTHISandTHAT ''You'll come out as Marilyn Monroe. It'll be funny.' Me in drag is not funny," Franco continues. "Me in drag as Cher trying to sing like her is a thing. That didn't happen, so then I just didn't want to argue anymore. I was going with their program; I wanted to do the material they gave me, not be one of the many cooks doing the writing."
@abeille344 Are you trying to validate my point further? I don't get it. "Me in drag is not funny." I think that sums up everything. He saw what a bunch of idiots he was dealing with and said 'fuck it, I'm not eve going to try.' What's the purpose of the long quote my friend? Lol!

@abeille344 I think it's safe to say that we're agreeing on SOMETHING finally. Not to be mean or anything, but I think this conversation is kinda pointless, so yeah. I'm done.
@THISandTHISandTHAT Nothing against your opinion, you know. I just give my opinion about a stupid thing that James Franco did on at the Oscars. He talked about it recently in a magazine. Now, I have more information on this actor and he's not interesting for me. His image is associated with a confused way of life that I don't have. That's what I tried to explain. In Canada, critics said about Apes, he plays without conviction.: hard to believe he can play an intelligent straight scientist.
James Franco could have done a decent job on his own. He is funny, has laid-back nature, has fun making fun of himself, looks good in gucci, he looks good in drag, he even looked good with that annoying girl next to him.
James Franco deserves an award for putting up with AH (she must drop the America’s sweetheart BS).
@chu6466 really i thought they were just two awkward actors trying to be funny at an Oscar ceremony with a horrible writer and a stoned James Franco who didn't want to be there at all!
@nickjjismyhusband but then, we aren't getting paid loads of money to be entertaining. I mean really, when i hire a IT person to fix a bug on my computer and they totally fuck up the job should i tell myself, "you shouldn't critique this guy's work. after all, would you have been able do it yourself"?
@nickjjismyhusband That is the worst logic ever. They are professionals, that is their job. In the same way that you should excel and be the very best at what you do, they SHOULD be very good at what they are doing. I didn't see it, but ratings don't lie, people didn't like it which means they didn't do it well.
Or, possibly, the writers and the other people in charge of conceiving the gags and flow of the show didn't do it well, and it was the hosts' bad luck that they were inexperienced first-timers in the hosting world. They are professional film actors, after all, not professional Masters of Ceremony.
@EthanEternal Christian Bale WAS awesome! He owned his past mistakes and was touching without being cheesy. He certainly has gotten people to like him again with this role, although I've been a fan for a while.
@EthanEternal i think that joke was that since Anne was wearing the "tux" he had to wear the dress, because she took his outfit so he had to wear hers idk if someone knows differently then correct me
@ss66ii77 Aww, he actually looks better there than I was giving credit for, hee... I think I was more responding to all the unfavorable critique of their hosting abilities. I didn't get to see the Academy Awards, even though I wanted to, because I was away in the country. I only saw the clips. I was thinking they would probably be a couple of the more favorable hosts ever, but that didn't seem to be the consensus...
I was still rooting for Christian Bale, so much, even though I was away...
127 hours was an amazing film, way better than The King's Speech. They only got the awards because the film is about the monarchy. But that's just my opinion (If I ran the oscars), I just prefer different types of films.
I feel for some people this year's oscars were so predictable, that it wasn't going to be as enjoyable as previous years have been. I know every year I look forward to watching the oscars on tv, but I just knew who was going to win for most of the categories. It was fun while it lasted. Oh well.
Next year the Oscars should be hosted by Melissa Leo and Kate Winslet. ABC will have to hire physicians to monitor the hearts abnd blood pressure of its censors, but the ratings will go through the roof since Melissa and Kate are both now famous for "language that would make a sailor blush!"
my god Hathaway butchered it. She came off like a giddy 12 year old girl who doesn't shut up. She was beyond annoying and over-the-top and she tried way too hard. Poor Franco probably just gave up because he was visibly annoyed with her every time she opened her mouth and knew the show was already a lost cause
nobody cares about the oscars, because they couldn't afford to watch any of the movies in the theaters. some people are having trouble paying their electricity. I would have thought this would have been obvious to the media long before it actually happened. ratings are going to be low, until we can boost this economy.
@chu6466 I atually thought they were the worst part. They actually made me cringe. I like them both and I watched the Oscars for the first time because of them, so it was pretty disappointing when James wouldn't talk and Anne Hathaway had to make awkward jokes to fill the silences.
You idiots, it's only counting the time when she's talking about the celebrities. >.<

Why the hell is Hugh Jackman the blame for 'making us think all good actors must be good hosts'.
Monokuroboo24 11 months ago
Robert Downey jr. And Jude law should host next year's oscars. Those two are incredible together and funny!

@starkidgleek @envyus222 ;) that's because our fandom is the most dedicated and obsessive. Everything has a starkid reference haha <3

@zzdaesiefil But don't forget a bunch of old guys are the ones who pick who wins the awards.

I feel for some people this year's oscars were so predictable, that it wasn't going to be as enjoyable as previous years have been. I know every year I look forward to watching the oscars on tv, but I just knew who was going to win for most of the categories. It was fun while it lasted. Oh well.
nickcarterroxs 11 months ago
Everything was bad about it, and Franco and Hathaway both did a terrible job.

James Franco was stoned

i thought they where quite good hosts but it was Robert Downy Jr and Jude Law that made my night, I love those two.

James Franco is underrated. I prefer him than Chris Rock or that douche Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes.

@Mazmorrero2
But compared to the male hosts of previous years? Last year it was Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin!

Its shocking how bad james franco sucked!! Absolutely shocking!!

my god Hathaway butchered it.

I would have thought this would have been obvious to the media long before it actually happened. ratings are going to be low, until we can boost this economy.

was the oscars this year really that bad? i'm sorry. i'm not from the u.s
Biggestfanever11 1 year ago
how intresting that it went down 9%
you weren't able to see it anywhere except in US
Make it next year only L.A. watchable and than wonder why it went down for 91!!!!!

this year's oscars was BORING.
except for the hosts james franco and anna hathaway. they did a good job!
chu6466 1 year ago 173
@chu6466 I atually thought they were the worst part. They actually made me cringe. I like them both and I watched the Oscars for the first time because of them, so it was pretty disappointing when James wouldn't talk and Anne Hathaway had to make awkward jokes to fill the silences.
xXRubella666Xx 1 year ago
@chu6466 NO! think you've got it the other way round. James looked high (even though I love him as an actor) and Anne hathaway was too cheesy

Viewing of the awards tied to nobody going to the movies ? Bad economy.Relentless snowstorms in the upper states, hampered travel.
