A crash would be devastating and a human tragedy, no doubt... But there are all kinds of safety systems in the events of earthquakes, etc. What I worry about the most is some lunatic blowing up the rails as one of these trains goes by. Not a regular crash. That I know of, there has never been a Shinkansen crash. And this train has been around 40 years. That makes it safer than a plane.

Me too. One day I would go on the Bullet train when I go to Japan.

You have to, I went in February and took Shinkansens all over Japan, I had a fantastic time, Japan is an awesome country, I'll will be going back there many times in the future.

I cannot wait for the MAGLEV (Magnetic Levitatio) train to come on line in the next few years. 500 KM/HOUR speed and no turbulences. I have to try that!!!
