@LilyBateman you can get it done with a 14 gauge needle an put in 16g jewerly it really doesnt make a difference but it might take a little longer to heal.

Septum doesn't hurt IF they put it the right place.

I had mine done twice, first was far out in the nose tip and THAT hurt,

but then I went to a PROPER piercing place, and they put it sort of far up your nose,

since theres an area up there which is basicly only skin. And that won't hurt.

Find a proper piercing spot, and be sure your nose is properly cleaned by the piercer,

will also help it to not hurt so much. Second time I couldn't feel a thing. For hiding it, buy a lip staff and put it in.

how far the piercing sticks out depends on the piercer's preference. my piercer likes septum piercings extremely far up, so mine doesn't stick out nearly that much. basically, just the balls stick out on the end of the ring. but some piercers do pierce them further down to where it sticks out more.

@bambieh2011 Actually... no the diameter of the piercing the piercer chooses is to accomodate for swelling, it needs to be long enough to make room for swelling. how much the balls stick out depends on the diameter of the ring, a 5/16 diameter would hardly stick out its 8mm in diameter. a 3/8 would stick out a bit more cause its 10mm diameter, a 7/16 is 11m so it would stick out a considerable amount, and 1/2 would stick out almost too much, you probably have a 5/16 ring in.

It's like You said- it hurts a bit more then some other piercings, but it's over in a sec. Fainting has nothing to do with the pain - it happens with all piercings.

From what ive heard, Septum piercings hurt when your piercer does it wrong or doesnt use a sharp needle. Although that being said it will still vary based on your own personal pain tolerance.

@metallicafan02 Guessing it could be pierced through a nerve, My woman has had something similer going on with her cartlidge quite a while ago and i think hers was pierced through a vein so i made her take it out. But end the end if you piercing looks healthy pain only lets you know your alive and changing the septum ring wont kill ya, Might make ya cry a bit but screw it its surviveable haha, It is also possable that your skin is haveing a reaction to the type of metal in jewlery your wearing.
