stage presence was pretty. and this is supposed to be a happy song but it seems like everyones so quiet until the end note, which is the easiest part..
it's quite interesting to see it being sung by non Kenyans. Very well done. This was one of my favourite songs in Kenya the youth really loved singing it at church :)
Dunno who this is, but if per chance you were an alto at this time, do you remember the girl who started to pass out? 2:31 is a fellow alto putting her stuff down to help her off stage. Yeap. My friend was the girl on the other side and I was riiiight in front of them That's what I remember best from this day. Hahaha.
I've been watching a few versions of this song on Youtube, and finally in this video I can hear the 2nd soprano's part! It was my part when my choir sang it in high school - just three of us then. By the way, I think you guys did an excellent job for only learning the song that day with such a huge choir. Good job!
Our choir is singing this for our Christmas concert. It's much jazzier and more dynamic, in our interpretation. The conductor is directing it too slowly in this interpretation.
Yeh. I realize this. However. We learned the song that day. We wanted to add something to jazz it up, but the direction was afraid it wouldn't get pulled together. The quality is bad, but I do know, many people were moving to the beat, as much as they could since we had to sing it at a slower tempo haha.
Great job...except I think you could have sang a little more..it sounds like you are trying to be as ginger as you can with each note..the song is usually sang with a robust, almost rejoicing energy..everything else was right on...maybe the temp was a little slow..
This a classic high school christian union song in Kenya! It's a 'greatest hits' of worship music in Kenyan schools!. Interesting rendition and very impressive pronunciation of the language. Thank you for posting and great job.
Thanks so much. The language wasn't that difficult to catch on to, we spent about 2ish hours on this song and were able to get it pretty well. Thanks for the comment :)
Yeh, we were given the music about two weeks before. As you can tell by the various robes there were many schools there that day. This year it happened to be at my school. But yeh, we learned maybe close to 5 songs with a girl and guy peice that day and performed it that night. We started at like maybe 9 am and ended rehersals at 5ish? I'm not sure :)
Glad you like, people are always saying we need to be more upbeat and "joyful".. We learned this song that day and performed it that night. We did what we could, glad you like it. Have fun performing it!!
you sound really good but you are just so serious....i think it wouldve helped to be a little happier!! hehe...i know its hard to concentrate on both the song AND your face...just something to work on
But you can't really tell, there were some people dancingish.. Idk I do agree. We all wanted to dance but were told we didn't have time to put something together considering it was a one time thing lol.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed the singing part anyway (:
The schools in our conference selected a few people from each choir section and we rehearsed from like 9am-5pm and learned I think 5 songs and then put on a concert that night..

We learned the song that day.... We did the best we could with the hour we had to learn it.
Songs can be performed in so many different ways. Yes most people sing this song faster and such. But we did what we could.

I love this song. My chorus is doing it as well, and it's so cool singing it. I've never heard it like this, when I wasn't singing it myself.
