  • Ok ... Uli never trained me personally but is a nice guy. Günni is now on his way to get his (hg) trainers license. I agree that Klaus is a superb teacher, but unfortunately he is not at WaKu any longer (he left this year)... when did you complete your training, must have been some years ago ...

  • Actually I started 2001 with Uli at WaKu and as you know, training never ends ;-). I only had less time and possibilities to go hanggliding. Why did Klaus go? Who will be the second teacher as you need 2 ?? Or - unfortunately more likely - they will quit training on hg ?!? Nobody wants to do hg, and as Uli went, now there is nobody with his experience and passion...

  • I guess that with Uli going there have been changes (you know that Uli was always in favor of people wanting to learn HG) but from the rumors I heard is that WaKu is about to create a link with Hammelburg where they can do the UL-towing ... but that is not officially confirmed yet, but they will definitely not quit Hg training. It's a pity that Klaus left, he was a very good teacher and very passionate, too, but Günni is also a nice teacher.

  • wow that must be awesome well im a scuba diver if you take of ur fins which has to only be in 10 foot no current water it feels like there is no gravity

  • looks like fun

  • that is what I was thinking

  • looked like a fairly good flight;

    pilot must have just been learning to 'go

    prone' immediately after takeoff.

  • in fact we were told to make it so. But I think I just wanted to feel like flying real ;-)

  • If you were in training by Klaus or Günther they certainly did not tell you to get in the prone position straight away. I have just completed the beginners training at WaKu and they tell you to stay upright and continue running until the glider is stabilized in the air (and in case you have to make some more steps if your initial take off speed wasn't really enough).

  • I was trained by Uli making my first steps at strong wind conditions. In this vid, there is also strong wind. If you know Uli (already retired) you know that he got his own old-school techniques. The two ones above only had assisting licences at that time. Klaus is a very good teacher, Günther is a paragliding pilot originally.
