Not an iPhone killer. It came into the market way too late. They also said that the Samsung Instinct was gonna be an iPhone killer, and look what happened: nothing. And the iPhone 3.0 software incorporates many of the features that people wanted for the iPhone and that are in the Palm Pre. Palm Pre looks cool, major power for running multiple apps. The problem I see is the way the apps are made. iPhone apps are programmed in Objective-C, the Pre uses some kind of html thing. The apps can be native on the palm, but they will not be as intensive as a lot of iPhone apps from what I understand. Games won't even be close just because of this difference in programming language

If I have a Mac, and am dedicated to iTunes and have a .Mac account, etc etc, why would I go from iPhone, a more integrated device to my current stuff, to the Pre? It seems great in general, but not enough to to sway me over.

If I have a Mac, and am dedicated to iTunes and have a .Mac account, etc etc, why would I go from iPhone, a more integrated device to my current stuff, to the Pre? It seems great in general, but not enough to to sway me over.

sounds like a good device, the problem is that as mentioned it might not achieve the diversity and quality of the app store. Second it's on sprint which is probably one of the least popular major carriers out there. So it definitely won't kill the iphone

IMO, the Blackberry Curve 8900 is the best phone right now, if it had 3G that would be great but other than that its amazing, the problem with iphone is you don't get the blackberry e-mail service.

The fact that the pre is on sprint means its not gonna kill anything. Sprint is a dying company so I'm not sure why Palm went with sprint but well see what happens.

It's good that the Palm Pre will give Apple a run for it's money.
Apple now has the ball in their court to produce a better then iPhone 3G.
I'm suprized no one other than Apple employees have seen the next gen iPhone. No leaks wow...not even from China!

The Iphone is the best personal computing device like Halo is the best FPS. They're both very good, but they're probably not the best deep down because so many people are trying to beat it. Whether this phone is going to be better than the Iphone or not, Iphone users still have the colossal app store (already noted) and the Iphone itself has a very powerful fan base of people who are going to be reluctant to switch. The Iphone will have power long after another phone begins to rule the market.

Pre has nothing on the iphone, after seeing the vid on their site, this is just another copy with a couple extra features. They said the design was inspired by nature, give me a break. As he said the app store alone is already a hard thing come up against.

And another thing, what the hell is wrong with Palm and Apple? They seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to sell you a mobile phone that can't record video!!! It's friggin 2009 and NOT 1999 for God's sake. Samsung's Omnia can record in HD 720P resolution then output that to a TV, but the iPhone and Pre can't even record ANY video! Yet you all think it's the Jesus phone!!! Makes me laugh.
