I got a pretty nice shiny electrike using the Pokeradar method, the patch was white. I'm confident that with enough patience, this method really works- mostly because the only other legitimate shiny I've seen in one of my games was a shiny koffing 4 years ago (I didn't know what it meant at the time so I ran). Point is, I got a shiny, even with my luck.

I've only been successful with chaining for shinies once. Ironically, i've had chains of 40+ and not gotten a shiny, but when larvitar was swarming i got a shiny one after a chain of just 11. I was really shocked! But yeh, that's the only time i've gotten a shiny via the Poke Radar, all others were event pokemon or pure luck.

@alisia28 when you keep on finding and killing the same pokemon over and over again... like you find a bidoof so you make it faint then you find another one and you make it faint and so on,,, BUT YOU HAVE TO USE YOU POKERADAR.. lets say you make 54 bidooof faint that is a chain of 54.. haveing a chain makes helps you get a shiny pokemon.... thats pretty much it..

@LoomaMounten hello, Thanks for the compliment. I truly appreciate it. At chain 20, the odds are 1 in 409. It's doable if you want to reset for a shiny patch, but you need to be very patient or really lucky and bring as much repels as you can afford. I would max them out. I wish you lot of luck and let me know if you're going to reset the radar at chain 20.

@drygdtg when i saved my chain and did soft resetting.. it doesnt keep the chain. what they mean is when u hit 40 chain... and u use ur radar..if u dont see that crazy looking patch of grass... then walk 50 steps again and use the radar again. cuz chains after 40... a shiny becomes like 1 in 64. if ur chain is like 200, the ratio would still be like 1 in 50. so its best NOT to chain after 40. cuz ur chances dont get any better really. does this make sense?

Yeah, that still happens to me as well. If you follow all of the basic rules and use pokemon abilities, then it's just bad luck because chains can still break randomly.

When using the poke radar, there's always a chance that the shiny patch will appear in ever chain. If you want the best odds of finding a shiny patch, you'll have to chain to 40 and your odds will be 1 in 204 of finding a shiny patch.

No, not really. I still find chaining 2-10% encounter rate pokemon challenging at times, so it can still be exciting for me. Plus, I still haven't tried hatch for shiny pokemon by using the Masuda method. That's more about luck than skill though because all you do is hatch eggs all day long with the odds being around 1 in 2000.
