They were awfully common in europe; the examples are Polish (TK-3; TKS; TKD; TKF; TKSD; TKW; TKS-NKM) Czech (Tancik VZ.33; Praga AH-IV, Skoda) British (Carden-Lloyd CL-4; CL-6) and the aforementioned italian Carro Veloce. The most powerful (and smallest) are the Polish TKS; TKS-NKM (Long Barreled 20mm Semi Automatic High Velocity AT Gun); TKD (37mm AA-AT Gun); and the TKSD (improved TKD, With more space, armor and velocity). The biggest and one of the most succesful was the Czech Praga AH-IV
There are smaller tankettes, this looks like a rare mortar tankette, Germany acctually had Suicide tankettes, realy small, i think 2 of them was used.
@rabies79 Actually the German Goliath s weren't tankettes they were tracked or remote controlled mines. Tankettes were one or two man light tanks mostly used for training tactics or recon.
@theoldgalah I didn't say anything about goliath tanks, and i think only a few prototypes where built, many tankettes where also used for infantery suport,
@rabies79 Sorry.Actually there were alot of goliaths built and used extensively on the eastern front and for building demolition.Imagine being assigned to a tankette squadron. All your mates go off to the tigers and panzer 4's etc how embarrassing ;o/ not to mention dangerous as their Armour typically wouldn't stop a a BB round just as well they were quick.
