I'm 24 and been playing for 12 years now. I really like this guy and I like the drum set up especially. I wish I had the money to buy a second set and make it similar to this one. You could say that the song is over-played but it's not like he's performing with the whole band. The point of this video is mostly the drums so obviously we all want to see some quick fills and interesting little licks thrown in there. All you people should catch some other videos done by this guy.

i think he messed up big time on this one... usually i love his covers, but he viciously overplayed the song and he played outside of the parameters of the song, almost like he was focusing more on the show of it, instead of the soul of the music

i disagree, if you closed your eyes and listened to this with out knowing what to expect then i would agree with you, but the whole point of this video is to highlight his drumming. and therefore i think this video does its job, which it to take a song and play with it to make drumming the center of attention.

i understand that, but if you look at this same song done by Cobus Potgieter, not that im saying hes better, he stays within the lines. He doesnt overexagerate. the drumming in this song is good, no arguing that, but i felt he ended up out-playing the song.

Well kinda, but the point of that cover is not to keep the drums simple, I guess it's all about taste, some people might think I overplay it some others that I could go crazy on such a song since, like ARDrumr says, the drumming is meant to be the center of attention. Anyway, I totally see your point and I don't expect that video to have unanimous support ;) thanks for the comment anyway!!

@ChrisRmv Really? Literally every video I've seen of Cobus has exaggerated drums. In almost every vid of Xav I wish he'd put more of himself into it. To see him finally cut loose a bit is cool. Cobus reminds me of Animal at times because although he is really talented it seems like he's trying to throw as much as possible into songs. I watch Cobus' vids because I like to watch talented drumming but frequently I find that I dislike his covers. Don't pick on this guy for letting it rip for once

yea i also see what you mean. It's hard not to put a creative twist on a cover with the same beat pattern, but i think if your playing in a band than one instrument shouldn't hog all the fills, but for a cover it's fun. I haven't played drums in 3 months and i've been constantly playing along to songs in my mind, and yea, i always put stuff in those songs that don't belong.

Super travail sur la pédale de grosse caisse, chapeau.

Je comprend toujours pas comment t'arrive à faire sonner aussi bien ta batterie + celle qui est déjà sur la chanson... Moi ça rend bizarre et je dois vachement baisser le son du morceau...

La seule solution doit etre de jouer bien agressif (voire de sur-jouer) pour qu'on entende que ta batterie.

En tout cas c'est génial comme d'habitude ^^.

this looks like more of a sit down and play cover to me. like you didn't practice it, you just sat down and played it. its a good cover, but i would tweak some spots in there, take out some of the fills and add more of a transition pattern with the high hat to the crash.
