I'm not posting this to cause any controversy but I'm genuinely concerned for this young girl. I'm a Juilliard trained, professional singer with 35 years teaching experience. Notice the audible, gasping sound she makes when she breathes and how she raises her shoulders and chest at the same time. Lots of tension in that and in the way her lips and tongue quiver. She needs a teacher NOW who knows what she's doing. That said, it is a phenomenal voice that needs lots of guidance and care.
@sopurrano1 i agree with you. she has the most amazing voice that i have ever heard but as soon as i saw her sing i got really concerned. if we want this kind of talent to last they should seek professional help.

This girl is a real artist. Her physical gestures when she's singing indicate that she could probably be a conductor as well. The musical maturity truly is freaky. Hope she doesn't get eaten up by the evilness that is the music industry.
Kudos to the person(s) that does Jackie's clothes, hair and make-up. She never looks slutty or over-exposed or reaching with clothes that are too mature. She always looks like a classy little girl.

I think that's what Sarah Brightman meant when she advised her to "save" her voice. It's good advice: protect that lovely instrument by staying healthy and avoiding stress. I say this selfishly, because I want to go on enjoying the thrill of your beautiful performances for a long time, dear Jackie!
Are you a vocal instructor? Yvie Burnett is Jackie's vocal coach, She then trained as an operatic mezzosoprano, and sung professionally with the Welsh National Opera. Jackie performs using her "Head voice" or upper register and doe's not belt. Thereby virtually putting no strain on the vocal chords.Jackie is essentially a "Bel Canto" stylist which is predominately used in classical singing. She is seen by a otolaryngolists (Larynx Doctor) twice a year to assure vocal health.
What I find so enchanting is when she's performing, she's this worldly, mature, polished and sophisticated singer. At the end, she turns back into a 10 year old who seems as astonished as we are that this beautiful, angelic voice is was given to her. I hope she never looses that humility. Its adds so much beauty to what's already there. For her, gifted doesn't begin to describe what she has. I wish her a long and healthy life.

@abbyx230 Not true. The producers voted him as the winner. They wanted his family to get the money which he said he would do, and they did not want a child headlining in Sin City. Plus they knew Jackie would be a huge star in any case, so Michael got his fame to do with as he can.
But the shock on his face was telling. He knew she should have won on talent alone. He felt very chagrined for her and repeatedly said so.
I just watched this beautiful performance for the umpteenth time, and the cynic who lives in the back of my head said "Yeah, but it's a simple song, easy to sing." I had to think about that. A singer who is merely technically good could take a more difficult song and dazzle us with technique, but it takes a true artist to take a "simple" song like this and make it magic - like Judy Garland singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Of course, Jackie can also dazzle us with more complex stuff too.
SHE'S the only ONE BEST EVER SINGER IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. GOD must have sent her down to show the WORLD what God can do and create someone like her. I love her more, i wish and pray that she'll stay grounded, humble and kind, and inspire a lot of kids out there and she'll get better,and better as time goes. Please take care of her.
STUNNING! I am a big opera fan and a late-comer to the "Jackie Experience" (just since the PBS special), so I have been more or less stuck on her performances of Nessun Dorma and O Mio Babbino Caro, as well as songs like Nella Fantasia, Ave Maria and Pie Jesu (OK, and The Prayer). I have skipped this video until now because I assumed any performance of this song would be a light bit of fluff. Was I ever so wrong! This is the most beautiful and moving performance by Jackie I have seen so far.

Simply stunning. This is what happens when a beatifully crafted piece is delivered by someone with such a talent as this. None of those awful, awful vocal acrobatics which so many of our moder day singers inflict upon their songs. This is a rare and precious talent. Oh her PBS show Jackie said when she starts to sing something just takes over her and you can clearly see that happening ..especially after the song is over she comes back to be the little fun girl that she is.. it's a transformation that is quite amazing to watch
I was reading some comments in a different blog, and it dawned on me one of the reasons Jackie is so special. She literally gives 100% effort on EVERY SINGLE NOTE she sings to make it as beautiful as she can. There are a LOT of professional singers who should be taking notes.

Indeed, Jackie showed off just a little. Why not? She can get away with it. I have to laugh as she polishes off the song with that long hold. How can anyone not adore this beautiful angel? I was there for the Houston concert and I can truthfully say that, as awe inspiring as this video is to watch, it only offers a hint of the impact her live performance had on her rapt audience. Her voice permeated every inch of that church and her very presence enthralled all in attendance. I feel blessed to have been there for this event.
We've attended hundreds of concerts over the past 40 years, from 33 acts in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. We're season subscribers to the Houston Grand Opera. None could compare to this Houston concert. We were in the second pew, and her voice was other-worldly, haunting. It put you in a dream state. Wish/Star had us spellbound but Nessun was the best song I ever heard! And you can now save these Youtubes as a DVD concert with the new Realplayer.
What can one write about sound so beautiful it almost hurts? Jackie is beautiful inside and out but I have never heard sounds so beautiful in my life. Since the recordings of her singing are so moving I can't imagine what hearing her live must be like. But if at all possible, I intend to find out. There simply are no words, dear Jackie.
Jackie...you're killing me "...but I mean that in a good way...a good way" as Huey Mandel AGT had said. Carrying that last note for so long is... loss for words...absolutely stunning. She sang so many songs as viewed here, just how long was this concert? Gosh was that a lucky crowd or what? I also notice that background noise doesn't phase her one bit or make her skip a beat. I thought Fight Night crowd was the real challenge and proof of that. Remember gang April 9 she will be 11 !
I love her simple and innocent expression of heart. I just hope it stays that way! Mostly all these famous stars, celebrities etc., choose a way of immorality and sin. Even of they would sing beautiful songs with a beautiful voice it would never reach the hearts but only the minds.

Lisa and Mike Evancho Have worked tirelessly to promote Jackie's career.I have nothing but respect for their decisions and handling this situation. @silassays You don't seem to know how families work! As long as she is the bread winner and still a minor I would assume that to be the case. After all, her rumored signing advance with Columbia was more than most of us would make in two lifetimes so I would assume that their standard of living would go up. I am sure that a significant portion is managed and placed in a trust for her.
@prometheus0814 I believe if anything Jackie's singing has done for the family has been more disruption of the normal life they had before and it doesn't seem their life before from what I've seen was anything but loving and normal.I believe they are still adjusting to the Fame Jackie is recieving.Trying to have a normal family life with a Superstar in the middle of it is probably very trying.For a wonderful family like the Evancho's.I don't believe she's the family breadwinner.
@bpamo .... I think many fans feel the frustration or rather anticipation of hearing Nessun Dorma. In all fairness though I don't think the Evanchos' decision has to do with opera snobs. There is some mystery surrounding Nessun Dorma. I personally would not be surprised to see a professionally made video of Houston surface and become part of a PBS special for Jackie. Maybe they want to save the best for last... who knows.
@tube7562 It was only a wish, not a request, I just bought some copies of david foster's dvd from amazon, while at the amazon site someone is selling a copy of her prelude cd for five hundred dollars, and if that is not incredible I don't know what is, and to think I hesitated purchasing some copies of prelude last year, oh well, I suppose that not only am I an opera snob, but I am lost as well.
@tube7562 I doubt you will see a professionally made video because the sound quality is so poor with all the reverberation off the church walls. That would require a lot of sound technology whose cost would be absorbed by whom...Columbia? Since they did not set up sound equipment, and she is under contract to them, there will be no professional video.
@silassays That's a bit unfair, if it weren't for their love for their daughter's dream we might never have heard of this wonderful child at all, I listen to Opera frequently, I mean why have bits and pieces when you can have the whole thing. Whatever their decision for their little daughter, for she is still their child, we will just have to learn to be patient.

@abbyx230 Not true. The producers voted him as the winner. They wanted his family to get the money which he said he would do, and they did not want a child headlining in Sin City. Plus they knew Jackie would be a huge star in any case, so Michael got his fame to do with as he can.
But the shock on his face was telling. He knew she should have won on talent alone. He felt very chagrined for her and repeatedly said so.

I just watched this beautiful performance for the umpteenth time, and the cynic who lives in the back of my head said "Yeah, but it's a simple song, easy to sing." I had to think about that. A singer who is merely technically good could take a more difficult song and dazzle us with technique, but it takes a true artist to take a "simple" song like this and make it magic - like Judy Garland singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Of course, Jackie can also dazzle us with more complex stuff too.

SHE'S the only ONE BEST EVER SINGER IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. GOD must have sent her down to show the WORLD what God can do and create someone like her. I love her more, i wish and pray that she'll stay grounded, humble and kind, and inspire a lot of kids out there and she'll get better,and better as time goes. Please take care of her.

STUNNING! I am a big opera fan and a late-comer to the "Jackie Experience" (just since the PBS special), so I have been more or less stuck on her performances of Nessun Dorma and O Mio Babbino Caro, as well as songs like Nella Fantasia, Ave Maria and Pie Jesu (OK, and The Prayer). I have skipped this video until now because I assumed any performance of this song would be a light bit of fluff. Was I ever so wrong! This is the most beautiful and moving performance by Jackie I have seen so far.

None of those awful, awful vocal acrobatics which so many of our moder day singers inflict upon their songs. This is a rare and precious talent. Oh her PBS show Jackie said when she starts to sing something just takes over her and you can clearly see that happening ..especially after the song is over she comes back to be the little fun girl that she is.. it's a transformation that is quite amazing to watch

I was reading some comments in a different blog, and it dawned on me one of the reasons Jackie is so special. She literally gives 100% effort on EVERY SINGLE NOTE she sings to make it as beautiful as she can. There are a LOT of professional singers who should be taking notes.

Indeed, Jackie showed off just a little. Why not? She can get away with it. I have to laugh as she polishes off the song with that long hold. How can anyone not adore this beautiful angel? I listen to her sing and the mood of the whole day changes for the brighter. And then I remember she practices "an hour a day" and my jaw relaxes into its normal Jackie mode ... dropped.

I was there for the Houston concert and I can truthfully say that, as awe inspiring as this video is to watch, it only offers a hint of the impact her live performance had on her rapt audience. Her voice permeated every inch of that church and her very presence enthralled all in attendance. I feel blessed to have been there for this event.

We've attended hundreds of concerts over the past 40 years, from 33 acts in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. We're season subscribers to the Houston Grand Opera. None could compare to this Houston concert. We were in the second pew, and her voice was other-worldly, haunting. It put you in a dream state. Wish/Star had us spellbound but Nessun was the best song I ever heard! And you can now save these Youtubes as a DVD concert with the new Realplayer.

What can one write about sound so beautiful it almost hurts? Jackie is beautiful inside and out but I have never heard sounds so beautiful in my life. Jackie...you're killing me "...but I mean that in a good way...a good way" as Huey Mandel AGT had said. Carrying that last note for so long is... loss for words...absolutely stunning. She sang so many songs as viewed here, just how long was this concert? Gosh was that a lucky crowd or what? I also notice that background noise doesn't phase her one bit or make her skip a beat. I thought Fight Night crowd was the real challenge and proof of that. Remember gang April 9 she will be 11 !

Lisa and Mike Evancho Have worked tirelessly to promote Jackie's career.I have nothing but respect for their decisions and handling this situation. @silassays You don't seem to know how families work! As long as she is the bread winner and still a minor I would assume that to be the case. After all, her rumored signing advance with Columbia was more than most of us would make in two lifetimes so I would assume that their standard of living would go up. I am sure that a significant portion is managed and placed in a trust for her.

@bpamo .... I think many fans feel the frustration or rather anticipation of hearing Nessun Dorma. In all fairness though I don't think the Evanchos' decision has to do with opera snobs. There is some mystery surrounding Nessun Dorma. I personally would not be surprised to see a professionally made video of Houston surface and become part of a PBS special for Jackie. Maybe they want to save the best for last... who knows.

@tube7562 I doubt you will see a professionally made video because the sound quality is so poor with all the reverberation off the church walls. That would require a lot of sound technology whose cost would be absorbed by whom...Columbia? Since they did not set up sound equipment, and she is under contract to them, there will be no professional video.

I respect the Evancho's decision, but I also will be one of the million's who will buy her cd, and if you pass up that opportunity you are only cutting off your own nose to spite your face, as they say. All the copies of jackie's prelude to a dream cd are gone, and I see that someone on ebay sold one for fifteen hundred dollars. Temper, temper.
