Trauma, probably responding to the shit he had witnessed so far. The puppy incident was wrong; but, if we walked a mile in the shoes of any one of those soldier and witnessed all hell broke loose who knows if we would still be sane.

My son just returned from Iraq. I asked him about dogs in Iraq without telling him about the puppy. He said that stray dogs are everyplace and that many soldiers have died because of the warning barks from stray dogs waking people they were raiding in the middle of the night. The soldiers are shooting these stray dogs on sight and the Iraqis are happy. They don't keep dogs. They hate the stray dogs, none of them are kept as pets in Iraq.
This makes his tossing the puppy part of doing his job. It makes it an act of sane disposal...would you prefer he slit the puppy's throat? Would you prefer he shoot the puppy? He probably didn't have the heart to do that...tossing the puppy, the puppy dies out of sight over a cliff. People are more attached to dogs than people in this country...it's scary, that people would threaten and hate another human being, serving a soldier in a terrible war before they would attempt to understand.
why not give it a chance to fend for itself? If you can't take care of the puppy, there's no need to kill it. It's not up to you to carry out judgement of whether something should live or die.
Now i'm no doctor or vetenarian but im guessing the puppy laying in a ditch with practically every bone in its body broken is a lot less humane and a lot more painful than shooting it. Thats if what you are saying is true. And if it is so important dogs are killed why record it and laugh about it? People who didn't seem to be disturbed by that puppy video tried to pose the argument that people should stop being angry because there's worse things that have happened. There is lots of fucked up shit happening and we're quite capable of not approving of it all. The puppy is more significant in the sense that you have these soldiers in the middle of a war where they have to carefully discern between a threat and a civilian, and here we see that INNOCENT life obviously doesn't matter to them.

Soldiers, on the job, are supposed to show a level of professionalism, as they are required to respect and be responsible for all living matters. Trauma, probably responding to the shit he had witnessed so far. The puppy incident was wrong; but, if we walked a mile in the shoes of any one of those soldier and witnessed all hell broke loose who knows if we would still be sane.
The person who did this may be more messed up than anyone would like to admit. I say send our war mongering leaders to war, they are already messed up. The experience may set them straight and maybe they will then bring the rest of the troops home...now!

My son just returned from Iraq. I asked him about dogs in Iraq without telling him about the puppy. He said that stray dogs are everyplace and that many soldiers have died because of the warning barks from stray dogs waking people they were raiding in the middle of the night. The soldiers are shooting these stray dogs on sight and the Iraqis are happy. They don't keep dogs. They hate the stray dogs, none of them are kept as pets in Iraq.

This makes his tossing the puppy part of doing his job. It makes it an act of sane disposal...would you prefer he slit the puppy's throat? Would you prefer he shoot the puppy? He probably didn't have the heart to do that...tossing the puppy, the puppy dies out of sight over a cliff. People are more attached to dogs than people in this country...it's scary, that people would threaten and hate another human being, serving a soldier in a terrible war before they would attempt to understand.

why not give it a chance to fend for itself? If you can't take care of the puppy, there's no need to kill it. It's not up to you to carry out judgement of whether something should live or die.

Now i'm no doctor or vetenarian but im guessing the puppy laying in a ditch with practically every bone in its body broken is a lot less humane and a lot more painful than shooting it. Thats if what you are saying is true. And if it is so important dogs are killed why record it and laugh about it? Those men werent carrying out a service they where amusing there tiny brains and making them feel big about killing something helpless. Dont try and justify what they did its not possible.

People who didn't seem to be disturbed by that puppy video tried to pose the argument that people should stop being angry because there's worse things that have happened. There is lots of fucked up shit happening and we're quite capable of not approving of it all. The puppy is more significant in the sense that you have these soldiers in the middle of a war where they have to carefully discern between a threat and a civilian, and here we see that INNOCENT life obviously doesn't matter to them.

Well all I can really say is the puppy made a funny sound when it 'went'. the tossing video looked fake but what ever, you know, how I go about things like this is simply...things die no matter how they died, they still died. And weither or not you have a sence of humor about it. No need to get hyped about a thing you see or hear. Besides, at least it wasnt your dog, right?

So, when i see this soldier throw a poor puppy off the cliff and not show the came compassion a normal person would feel for a puppy being slaughtered in such a way, and then i read report after report of Iraqis being killed "accidently", most likely due to to negligence at times or another, thats where I get annoyed. People should not be fighting a war if they have no compassion for life. Otherwise they are not to be trusted and are a danger to their surroundings. Done

Well, i agree with some of your points, but overall I think we should care about that vid of the puppy being thrown off the cliff. Soldiers, on the job, are supposed to show a level of professionalism, as they are required to respect and be responsible for all living matters. The soldiers negligence and uncaring manner to life in general makes him very untrustworthy to be in an environment where...well...hes supposed to be protecting human lives.

I know The responce has to do with the fact that they can relate to a puppy more but I FEAR that there is a worse undertone here. That the constant media entertainment volly turning death into numbers has given people an emotional offswitch. I think we're not used to PUPPIES being killed. So that bipasses the offswitch at least for now. I don't write this off by any means... but i'm worried about the LACK of responce to bigger issues. Among my own family, friends, teachers, colleuges, co workers... i disguss abu ghraib. People had opinions; they took the attitude though, that this was buisness as usual and that the world sucks. Well then Mr. FightIslam, you missed an integral point of the video; we don't need to 'prioritise'. We can feel indignation and outrage at both the terrible situation in Darfur and a puppy getting thrown off a cliff in Iraq. There is no trade-off.

The only thing that can be said in defense of the video is that it doesn't reflect the entire armed forces of the United States, or any other nation for that matter.
It certainly does reflect upon the individual though, as well as his immediate superiors for not dealing with him.
Cunts like that have no business wearing any uniform but that of a janitor... damn sure not the uniform of any of the armed services.
