  • cool video.

ahaha, what song is that at the end?

  • DUDE you don't know that shit? Bran's Freestyle from CKY2K totally epic flow hahahahaahahahaha

  • Awesome!

    Thank Tomasz for sharing.

  • Dredg is geat. I really love them.

  • i´ve just listened to them at my friend´s house on his cd. i liked them just after few seconds!

    really great band...

  • sehr traurig :(

  • New fan here. Loved them.

  • dredg is one of the best bands live! you think their cd sounds good? Live you live the music...lol...very impressive band, the drummer plays keys while he plays the drums, the singer plays slide guitar well, ican go on and on..........BADASSS!!!!!!!!!

  • My favorite is when he'd sing through a trumpet.

  • Una canción genial.

  • this song fuckin rocks

  • this is one of the best songs ever written by anyone. fact.

  • SJAJNO !!

  • I think it sounds rather nice. it's DIFFERENT and kinda pop-tunish if you will. ^_^ GO AHEAD Dredg, PUSH ON!!!

  • are you serious? kinda sad that plenty of people dont recognize real music quality anymore. glad you even learned one word to describe that song. "emo" wow. how embarrassing. poor you.

  • any one else think this is a creepy vid?

  • kinda reminds me of older tool. you?

  • yah but they got pretty hard i dont like there knew stuff

  • just seen 'em live again. This song is pretty hard as well, certainly played live. Although I prefer to call it intense. Maybe you should give their latest record a new try, I think it's on par with el Cielo again, way better than 'Catch'. I am growing to love it more and more, even the seemingly mediocre single (was great live as well).

  • I bet the person that's giving everybody thumbs down is like some greedy, selfish older fan whose pissed at the fact that they got popular, even know they probably only heard of them like in 2005. That's when I learned about them. Dredg is fucking amazing. :)

  • oh the wind that tickles our skin....

  • Beautiful vid... wow.

Does the first minute and a half remind anyone else of Blue Man Group? Just wondering.

  • Ahh..... How 'bout.... no.

  • Haha, alright, I'm a loser.

  • can't get, why he gets his face so early...

  • i think it's to signify the start of his journey to be unique

  • sympathy unfolds

    the shell that holds

    all the beauty within

  • never heard of this band, i like

  • They're a really good modern Prog Rock band. If you like them, check out Tool, Mars Volta, Rishloo and Porcupine Tree, just to name a few other awesome bands in the similar vein.

  • Whoa, I just found out this video was directed by American McGee, the game designer. No wonder it's trippy.

  • this is one of the most moving music videos i've ever seen!

i love the scene, when the puppet loses it's ties and starts running!

by the way... dont care bout ibecamebipolar...

dredg still rule, even or because they get known and famous...

these days, they get respected, as they earn it...

  • first time i saw this video was when i worked at gadzooks. haha wow. been with em ever since.

  • ORLY!!??

  • Firstly they're, is how you say ''they are'' not ''there''. THERE is the reason people are laughing at you, it bothers you so much that it's mainstream... The irony of course is that you think you are special for listening to ''non-mainstream'' music, when really you are no different, get over yourself and enjoy music for what it is, not what it implies.

  • amen brother.

  • This is thier best video to date and the first song I ever heard by them. It was love at first listen! Dredg forever!

  • ahh the good ol days...

  • how come this song has only 377 five stars? :-O

  • beautiful...

  • 3:21 = fucking epic

  • All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

in a modest town where honest people dwell

  • I love this band soooo much. I'm so glad that out of all the bands that played the community center in Vacaville, that this is one that made it out of just a local scene. I've seen them 20 times over the last 10 years. I fucking love them! Next to Misifts, favorite band of all time.

  • I remember seeing the video for the first time. I was in the 8th grade, around February of 2003. This was played on Fuse at the time...I find the song to be sad and uplifting at the same, as someone else mentioned earlier.

  • I remember when this video only had a few thousand views at most..great to see people finding out about dredg :)

  • As much as I would love for Dredg to gain more recognition, I appreciate the fact that they are still out of the spotlight (keeping their shows intimate and amazing).

  • I do agree with you i have been and seen dredg live at bimbo's. i could tell you they are the best show men in the world, every song they sang was plain amazing and he laughed and chatted with the crowd and i got a drum stick yea me also check out judgement day they placed with dredg 3 songs. Torch sucked

  • that show was awesome :D was my first time to a dredg show, i loved it.

  • lol awesome i was in the front row right in front the lead singer. I am glad that you loved it, i hope more people would go and see this awesome band....well hope to see you at more awesome shows here @ the bay cheers

  • Indeed..althou on things like MTV they are starting to get shzown so they might get the recognition they deserve very soon..by the way I know them though there shows will still be great.

  • i think this song is beautiful, sad and uplifting simultaneously. it's my favourite. love it!

  • Great song, one of my fav by Dredg. I saw them 2 nights ago at the Marquis.

  • Dude!! same here!! awesome show huh!! shitty venue tho they were the best at the fillmore when i saw them w the deftones.. even better at the bluebird too at least they had all the props up

  • wanna hear a shitty Dredg story?i didn't have a ride to the show in ATL so my roomate sheduled someone to cover his shift, but they backed out at the last minute.then at 8:30 they decided they could do it.Dredg went on at 10:00 but we didn't get there until 11:00ish just as they were playing Bug Eyes.i only got to see 2 complete songs after traveling 2 hours.i have a serious case of blue ears/eyes,that's why i'm watching Dredg vids today,to try and get off so to speak!fuck random circumstances!!!

  • I would laugh and act like a jerk but dude i feel your pain * bummed*

  • i appreciate you not adding insult to this injury..yeah,i was putting myself out there with that comment..i think any decent person would have replied the same.i believe that this song inspires empathy in it's listeners...

  • one of the most emotional songs i know !

  • i love this song.. its sad

  • Saw these guys several years ago at a small club in jersey.. freakin awesome!

They're drummer is a monster on that kit... favorite part of the show

  • Comment removed

  • Such beautiful music.... I am so thankful I found this song.

  • dredg is the frekkin best car music you could hope for

  • that guy looks kinda creepy. anyway Dredg rocks!!!

  • I think he's cool! He kinda reminds me of a mix between an old ventriloquists dummy, and something outta a Tim Burton film.

  • I agree. he is cool, just a little creepy. ^_^

  • Listen to the song live on the " Live at the Fillmore" cd. Video gives the music no justice or feeling...so listen to it "live".

  • i love them... no-one knows them in Italy and it makes me so sick of being italian XD

  • Man don't spam like that...

Blog about it if you feel that strongly.

  • I like how the song completely changes it's feel half way through.

And the guitar riff at 1:49 - 1:53 is perfect to me.

I made a video called "One World..."

Check it out and tell me what you think, I am just trying to make a difference!

    Thanks so much!

Making the cleanest energy for the greenest plants to grow, the richest soil that is drenched with the freshest rain

  • i love this song :)

  • Dredg are awesome.

  • Same guy who did the art for the alice PC game!

  • cool ive been meaning to check these guys out for a while

  • American McGee.....the most stupid name ever....but cool vid by the way....reminds me a lot of tool...!

  • Great vid i agree with scarface love the animation i heaard it was done by American McGee.

  • .........fucking remine

  • a stimulant... i think that's all about...

  • haha, could be.

  • scarface i really believe the same youre damn right:)

  • anybody know their set list for their 08 tour? cant seem to find it online...

  • The video is great! I think it probably has to do with taking your own path in life. In the beginning, the character has no eyes, or mouth and is attached to strings like a puppet. This can be interpreted as a reference to the majority of people who buy into religions. They're blind to the many flaws in it, and don't question it (no mouth). Then, the character is freed from the strings and can open his eyes and mouth. He sees a sign post and looks to one side where more puppets are. Cont...

  • ..cont

So he chooses to go another path and explore the rest of the world other than the same ol' road. Also, notice how the camera zooms in on his eye and shows what appears to be space or galaxies. After this, he is freed and can move about and explore. This may be a symbol of learning things and understanding and realizing that the order that one was born into, and its flaws. After that, you are free, or no longer a puppet on strings. Well, that's my interpretation of the video.....

  • thats a pretty good analogy, although i don't think it's just limited to religion. it could be anything that people accept without questioning.

  • Yeah. That's true.

  • Yeah i dont think its religion but just plain conformity, not to say you're wrong, go up to gavin after a show and ask=D

  • Yeah I agree. It can also be buying into fads, "WHAT'S HOT", and other things.

  • I love this song. When i discovered this band for myself i had never heard of them and they played a show that my band had played the night before, Cleveland metal fest 3 days, they were the last with Taproot. We got in free for playing the day before, anyway they get on stage and he says " We're Not Metal" and then kicked ass hard core!! It was one of the shows where everyone was like OMG this is the real deal! Something special.

  • thanks to serj tankian i found this awesome band.. fukkin nice music!!!

  • this middle of this song and the beginning of californication sound a lot alike

    Goddamnit i love Dredg

  • Mee too!A little erie. But I love Dredge. :)

  • Ah. American McGee Directed this video. It's very interesting. and to be paired with Dredg's Music... exquisite. A marriage that I like very much. <3

  • a good song.. but I'm afraid of the video O_O xD

  • I'll make it a little less scary.

I've had this moment. Going left of every robot I found, and wound up having a personal epiphany that inspired me to feel a little bit closer and a little bit wiser. It looks like a video version of the type of personal search in spirituality and self Siddhartha had went through. (I thank my high school Humanities teacher for making me read the book.)

    Does that help a little?

  • some other bands are circa survive, a perfect circle, ashes divid, mt.helium(apex theory),minus the bear, fair to midland, and kaddisfly

  • FUCKING LOVE FAIR TO MIDLAND

  • Yeah, Darroh Sudderth's vocals are simply amazing.

  • Lets not forget Tool =] (a perfect circle's singer).

  • Baah sorry. I meant that Tool's singer is also in A perfect Circle. Circa survives also a great band.

  • LOVE THIS SONG MAN

  • First time I heard this song "live" it gave me chills! Dredg is one of ten personal favorite bands of mine! A band in my opinion totally unappreciated and underrated here in the US!!! Shows how uneducated and narrow minded many music lovers truly are!

  • The vocals on this song are kind of haunting...

  • aye, his voice really goes well with the style they had on this album. Real subdued and smooth

  • Your journey back to birth its haunting you its haunting you

Your departure from the earth, its haunting you, its haunting you

  • No, not my journey back to birth. Just dredg in general.

  • Same ol' Road is second song of El Cielo

  • me and my friends have had multiple conversations of how Dredg definitely has their own sound. It's like nothing you've ever heard before.

  • yeah, actually right. but maybe they are a bit comparable with isis.

  • i saw radiohead recently and for some reason this song reminds me of em.

  • el ciele is by far one of my most favourite album from one of my most favourite bands. dredg are truly impressive

  • great vid

  • man dredg is amazing. i agree with wrangler34, that dredg is one of the few bands left in the world that are doing something truly different.

  • Solution = Get out of mainstream music. Progressive and art/rock bands are doing something different. Try (to name a few):

Riverside, Frost*, Sylvan, Tool, Pain of Salvation, Porcupine Tree, RPWL etc.

  • Tool owns!

  • Riverside are my favourite band. The spacey guitar patterns, souring melodies, the complex time signatures. They are incredibly athmospheric. Porcupine Tree are great too, particularly the albums "In Absentia" and "Fear Of A Blank Plent".

  • The song at the end is by far the best part about his vid.

    ;D

  • Dredg is awesome live. I watched them open at Taste of Chaos '06 here in San Jose. They sound just as great live, if not better, than in their albums. They are underrated, but not much that can be done there. Anyway, I love this video and Dredg, awesome music.

  • I saw dredg open up for Chevelle in Houston back in 05' and the audience didn't respond to the artistic sound of dredg and gave the band a hard time live which really sucked. I was a big fan of same ol road when the video came out and regardless of the comments that night they still did a great job. This might be an over shot but I feel they are the pink floyd of our generation!!!

  • i completely agree, genius seems to be overlooked these days.

  • agreed.

    .....chevelle.

  • EXACTLY

  • I'm so acording to you.

I adore Dredg by the way, and the video is superb!

  • blupnu311 that a shame to hear oh well atleast we still can have creative music like this from the few in the world of music that choose to pursue new styles and push the limits on conventional sound.

  • That sucks man I saw them at Warehouse Live in Houston right before Catch came out, I think it was before the concert you went to.. it had a pretty full crowd there that went for DREDG so there we do have the fans here I think the majority of people who listen to Chevelle don't notice the progressive elements of that band (check their albums, I've noticed they go for a very progressive sound every other album). So perhaps they aren't going to appreciate dredg's style.

  • american mcgee does some good stuff

  • Leitmotif is one of the best albums Ive ever heard. And in my short 24 years I have heard a LOT of albums

  • you know i grew up around these guys along with trapt and strata give them a fuckin break geez! all these dudes worked there ass off to make it where there at have common courtesy please! BTW buy there first major release leitmotiff trust me its AMAZING!!! if youcan find there demo's too i'd advise getting everything they own and seeing them live!!!

thanks for uploading this man you kick ass and tahnks for representing us bay area hard working bands with this!

  • by the way, I think this band is great, very creative and talented, I have their CD El Cilo but not their newer one. it is a great CD though, each song is different and touching in it's own way. I grew up listening to it. I have been listening to it for 6 years and it hasn't gotten old, I suggest if you don't have this CD that you get it. Dredg don't get the credit they deserve, unfortanely. all the more reason to be glad I know them, this song is what introduced me to this band.

  • PEOPLE YOU ARE TAKING THIS WHOLE TOOL CONVERSATION WAY TOO FAR. don't get me wrong I think Tool is a great band and I can see with a video like this where a tool conversation can get started but people are seeming to forget this is a Dredg video, not tool, and all you obsessive tool fans, seriously need to stfu and stop comparing them to other bands, yes they are really, talented and creative, doesn't make them the only band on the face on the earth with those gifts.

  • If you know what you are looking for Tool's videos go along precisely with the music

  • love it

  • wats the song at the end

  • brians freestyle cky

  • All you need is a modest house, in a modest neighborhood- how true.

  • Incredible fucking album.

  • Great band!Great song!

  • tool is a great band and dredg is like the emotional side of everyone , waoo just amazing

  • This guy does have a very emotional voice that is very like maynards voice but i woundnt compare this maynard in Tool this is alot closer to a Perfect Circle its mellow... well not all of it but you get the point = >

  • i would have liked this clip better if the dude wasnt so freaky looking.

  • Always great to find a band that trips you out without necessarily scaring the living shit out of you :D I was listening to the "modest house in a modest neighborhood" section while running between classes and three work shifts that day, I swear I wanted to run away and just RELAX somewhere away from it all...

  • i love that part it just makes me feel so fucking good...its so true and easy to relate too

  • agreed. I feel great

  • drums is amazing...

  • great band, great video this is not boring it's emotional!

  • ????

  • DREDG LOVERS, WATCH MY DRUM COVER =)

  • this reminds me of robert frost "i came upon two roads and chose the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference"

  • Thats a creepy pupetbut nice song

  • look at tha symbolism in tha vid and u'll see. I don feel like explainin my interpretation right now.

  • i must agree. its about choice. even though someone else my be controling your life, you still have a choice of what you want to do

  • Beautiful video

  • is that an alien??? 0.o

  • awesome song!reminds me little of anathema!!

  • O my god, like i´m a fan of both bands and i didn´t even think about putting them next to each other and see the best one.

If i do that then i needed to put 3(or Three) here too,but that´s stupid, they are both great bands, the only thing i can say is that one is Prog Metal and Dredg probably Prog Rock...but putting tags is not the best way to enjoy a band.

Anyway, great music and great video!Dredg vocal is really sentimental.

  • comparing tool to dredg is futile...theyre too damned different so stop trying.

  • şahaneeeeeeeeee

  • tool's way better than dredg in my opinion. much better than every other band i know, but i still like dredg :)

  • You remind me of a weak person i now ! Im starting to hate Tool because of your guys ! Open your shitty head once !

  • wtf has tool to do with dredg??? dont u want to compare them with backstreet boys also??

  • that's it :) I didn't want to offend anybody with my comment, I mean, it's just a matter of different tastes and preferences.

  • tool isnt the greatest band and doesnt own everyband.. ur a fucking idiot.. tool's latest album sucked balls except for a few songs.. dredg is awesome.. and deftones kicks ass too.. but it doesnt own other bands.. fucking loser

  • I agree with you .funny is that if i didnt read your opinion i was the one writing the same you did here ! The world is full of Tool Faggots! Peace Bro !

  • except after their second album they got a new bassist...

  • I agree with you. I never was totally interested in Tool. But now I do not admire that band at all, because of their fans. Everytime they listen to music they only want to listen to Tool. There are a bunch of good bands out there. And Tool isn't the greatest band ever.
