Marian was one of Robin's main reasons for fighting (He says it a few times) and she was just a really good female character, she had everything: strength, bravery, smarts, beauty, a kind heart, and just an over all kick-butt woman who added a love element to the show. This is just what The 70 show tried to do whit Erick Forman, show got canceled on episode 9. Once you based a story on true love you cant change it. Robbin Hood is a story about true love, for England and for Marion. They might as well let the sheriff win and crow Prince John as King of England, and kill King Richard.
totally. I hate that, I think Kate goes well with Allan, much just annoys me now, its like you had that girl in series 1 get over it. She is meant to be brave but is just so winy. Robin loves Marian they have to suffer with the consequences of killing her off. Plus kate's hair at the beginning just p****d be off I mean I know they try and give modern twists but really no.

They don't use blood in whole the series. This has to do with the Audience. If there would be blood in the series it would have a higher age-rating. I think it has a 12 + rating now. But with blood in it, it definitly would be raised to 18 (Think about all the dungeoun scenes and kills with sword and bow)

The thing is, David Tennant filmed E&E out in Budapest, which is where they film Robin Hood, he said he had a day out with the cast of series 3, and Lucy Griffiths was there! Why would she be there if she wasn't filming?

Maybe they'll think of a creative way to go on with out her maybe not. Bottom line they have to please the fans. It all gos back to money guys. But I would be very interested in what they would do if she really had died. I'd like it because it would push the story to go in a different and fresh direction. And it would make Robin become a more complex character because he would have to deal with thoughts of revenge. So either way the series won't suffer.

I don't think they are going to bring her back. They buried her in a coffin. There is never blood in Robin Hood. I am really pissed off because the show just killed Marian for shock value, and two, Robin is going to end up be angsty after two seasons. I hate to say this, but I think that she has to be dead. I mean there is writing issues, too. She already "died" in the end of season 1. They just can't fakekill her again. It would be nice, but it's just doesn't work that way. Faking someones death two times is just bad writing and underestimating the audience.

Actually I think that if it was real life, *probably* there would be more blood sooner from the dagger wound in Season 1 than from the sword wound in Season 2 (because the sword was still blocking the wound/stopping the blood flow, whereas the dagger was pulled out immediately after the stabbing).
(I'm not a doctor and I've only done *very* amateur studies of medical things, so please feel free to correct me if anyone [genuinely] knows more about it [not if you just *think* you do ^_~].)
By the way you can't trust Wikipedia to give *very accurate* info...they just put what they *think* to be true anyway...I bet Wikipedia probably originally said that she died after Season 1, episode 12...somebody probably reposted after episode 13 and put "appeared to die" or something similar.
I think she's dead, but if you want an *authoritative* website, try the BBC website (although they *could* be trying to fool us! ^_~), not Wikipedia...it's *okay too* but it's *not* an authority on RH!
I just remembered, they never showed very much blood when she was stabbed in Season 1, either (a little blood on Guy's dagger was probably the most obvious blood that they showed) (the "gotcha!" bit).
I think that they just care too much about the show to use the sloppy version of fake blood and do it wrong...doing it *convincingly* is harder...you need a small stain slowly spreading and becoming larger...and besides it would take attention away from Robin and Marian talking to each other.
IF they were going to go on and on and on like Last of the Summer Wine (a VERY long-running British situation comedy!), and IF Lucy Griffiths were going to be available for the whole 20-30 years, THEN they would wait and kill Marian later...as it is, I think that the show is basically trying to squeeze a *whole lifetime* into a few 13-episode seasons...which is pretty difficult to do, and they're not doing too badly, most of the time.

By the way Marian *does* die in some of the old legends (it's *supposed* to be *years later* when she and Robin are probably a couple of decades older, but the TV show isn't going to continue *that* long!!! ^_~).
I thought actually in a way the show managed fairly well considering the short amount of time, as far as building the old legends into it...they actually managed to get the King and the marrying and the dying all to fit into one episode...pretty impressive in a way.
There wasn't blood at first (or very much blood at first) because the sword was still in her...and they didn't show us that part of her again after she pulled out the sword.
(Actually I think that they didn't want to bother with the whole "theatrical blood" thing...either it was too messy or just too much to bother with or both, and they figured that if they *could* get away with *just not showing that part of her*, they *would* do it like that...maybe a little lazy but that's TV for you! ^_~
Anyway getting back to Marian...I'd be *very* much in favor of having her reappear as a memory or something...maybe even a ghost...but *alive* isn't very likely any more, I'm afraid. ~_~ (Sigh. ~_~ She will be missed. ~_~)
Although we will *probably* not see her as Marian again, I shall *certainly* hope to see Lucy Griffiths again in other productions. ^_^

And yes, I *do* know that *by now* all the historical people I mentioned are dead...but *some* of them, it isn't really known for sure how or when they died...although in Anastasia's case I'd say it's for sure now, since there are no longer any missing bodies from when her family was killed...it was fascinating when there *were* two missing, though (sigh...case closed now).
Anyway...yes, I do love the theories...*but* they usually turn out to be just theories and that's all.

In real life...usually it eventually turns out that the people *did* die...although sometimes it's never proven.
Sorry to say this but...based on the evidence that the show gave us, I *think* it is at least 90% for certain that she *is* dead this time (whereas last time, with Season 1, I was *at least* 70-80% certain that she was *not* dead...but I was worried anyway!).
I am not saying that *anything* is 100% for certain...no, we do not absolutely know for sure.
By the way, all of the bodies of the Romanovs (Anastasia's family) have now been located (as of 2007)...so that one is no longer a mystery.

The writers may have wanted to get the point across about Sir Guy's morals and ethics...he hasn't got any, although I think they have already done that in passed episodes. It
would not have said much if he had killed one of Robin's outlaws, but the killing of Maid Marion was perhaps the best way to get to us fans, which it certainly upset a lot of us. It will be long wait until the new season, but it will be well worth it. I am anxious to see the first new episode!

I have to agree with skull... Jonas is leaving in Season 3 and I do not see how the writers/producers can keep the show alive without the man who made Robin Hood popular. I am not certain of the reasons behind the death of Marian but it may have to do with Robin Hood's departure. The writers may have sought to "shock" the audience. Either way, I am upset at losing Marian's character (cried my eyes out!). I have no idea how season 3 will start and end....

I've already read how Robin is older and completely bent on revenge for Marian's murder. I think the writers/producers will attempt to shift the focus away from Robin Hood the man and more on the legend of Robin Hood. I am going to really miss the Robin/Marian chemistry and Jonas' pretty face!

totally. I hate that, I think Kate goes well with Allan, much just annoys me now, its like you had that girl in series 1 get over it. She is meant to be brave but is just so winy. Robin loves Marian they have to suffer with the consequences of killing her off. Plus kate's hair at the beginning just p****d be off I mean I know they try and give modern twists but really no.

I just saw both seasons in 3 days now, and Im really really sad :P I know it's all just fiction, but man, I was finding myself doing something random and then suddenly remembering Robin and Marian, and how sad it all was..

They don't use blood in whole the series. This has to do with the Audience. If there would be blood in the series it would have a higher age-rating. I think it has a 12 + rating now. But with blood in it, it definitly would be raised to 18 (Think about all the dungeoun scenes and kills with sword and bow)

Maybe they'll think of a creative way to go on with out her maybe not. Bottom line they have to please the fans. It all gos back to money guys. But I would be very interested in what they would do if she really had died. I'd like it because it would push the story to go in a different and fresh direction. And it would make Robin become a more complex character because he would have to deal with thoughts of revenge. So either way the series won't suffer.

I don't think they are going to bring her back. They buried her in a coffin. There is never blood in Robin Hood. I am really pissed off because the show just killed Marian for shock value, and two, Robin is going to end up be angsty after two seasons. Apparently there is going to a be new girl "Kate" who'll be another love interest for Robin, and it'll turn the show into a huge drama, not to mention completely tarnishing Robin and Marian's relationship :(

I hate to say this, but I think that she has to be dead. I mean there is writing issues, too. She already "died" in the end of season 1. They just can't fakekill her again. It would be nice, but it's just doesn't work that way. Faking someones death two times is just bad writing and underestimating the audience.
So i believe she is really dead. Pretty daring thing to do from writers, though. interesting to see how they'ill handle Robin and the whole story without Marian.

Actually I think that if it was real life, *probably* there would be more blood sooner from the dagger wound in Season 1 than from the sword wound in Season 2 (because the sword was still blocking the wound/stopping the blood flow, whereas the dagger was pulled out immediately after the stabbing).
(I'm not a doctor and I've only done *very* amateur studies of medical things, so please feel free to correct me if anyone [genuinely] knows more about it [not if you just *think* you do ^_~].)

By the way you can't trust Wikipedia to give *very accurate* info...they just put what they *think* to be true anyway...I bet Wikipedia probably originally said that she died after Season 1, episode 12...somebody probably reposted after episode 13 and put "appeared to die" or something similar.
I think she's dead, but if you want an *authoritative* website, try the BBC website (although they *could* be trying to fool us! ^_~), not Wikipedia...it's *okay too* but it's *not* an authority on RH!

I just remembered, they never showed very much blood when she was stabbed in Season 1, either (a little blood on Guy's dagger was probably the most obvious blood that they showed) (the "gotcha!" bit).
I think that they just care too much about the show to use the sloppy version of fake blood and do it wrong...doing it *convincingly* is harder...you need a small stain slowly spreading and becoming larger...and besides it would take attention away from Robin and Marian talking to each other.

IF they were going to go on and on and on like Last of the Summer Wine (a VERY long-running British situation comedy!), and IF Lucy Griffiths were going to be available for the whole 20-30 years, THEN they would wait and kill Marian later...as it is, I think that the show is basically trying to squeeze a *whole lifetime* into a few 13-episode seasons...which is pretty difficult to do, and they're not doing too badly, most of the time.

By the way Marian *does* die in some of the old legends (it's *supposed* to be *years later* when she and Robin are probably a couple of decades older, but the TV show isn't going to continue *that* long!!! ^_~).
I thought actually in a way the show managed fairly well considering the short amount of time, as far as building the old legends into it...they actually managed to get the King and the marrying and the dying all to fit into one episode...pretty impressive in a way.

There wasn't blood at first (or very much blood at first) because the sword was still in her...and they didn't show us that part of her again after she pulled out the sword.
(Actually I think that they didn't want to bother with the whole "theatrical blood" thing...either it was too messy or just too much to bother with or both, and they figured that if they *could* get away with *just not showing that part of her*, they *would* do it like that...maybe a little lazy but that's TV for you! ^_~

And yes, I *do* know that *by now* all the historical people I mentioned are dead...but *some* of them, it isn't really known for sure how or when they died...although in Anastasia's case I'd say it's for sure now, since there are no longer any missing bodies from when her family was killed...it was fascinating when there *were* two missing, though (sigh...case closed now).
Anyway...yes, I do love the theories...*but* they usually turn out to be just theories and that's all.

In real life...usually it eventually turns out that the people *did* die...although sometimes it's never proven.

Sorry to say this but...based on the evidence that the show gave us, I *think* it is at least 90% for certain that she *is* dead this time (whereas last time, with Season 1, I was *at least* 70-80% certain that she was *not* dead...but I was worried anyway!).
I am not saying that *anything* is 100% for certain...no, we do not absolutely know for sure.
By the way, all of the bodies of the Romanovs (Anastasia's family) have now been located (as of 2007)...so that one is no longer a mystery.

i don't think she died if u ask me it was all the a set up to hide marion from the sheriff and when you think about it didn't marion try to turn gisbane onto robins side so if you ask me she's alive and with the to people the left behind. think about it

The writers may have wanted to get the point across about Sir Guy's morals and ethics...he hasn't got any, although I think they have already done that in passed episodes. It
would not have said much if he had killed one of Robin's outlaws, but the killing of Maid Marion was perhaps the best way to get to us fans, which it certainly upset a lot of us. It will be long wait until the new season, but it will be well worth it. I am anxious to see the first new episode!

either way i don't think its that great writing...
if she's dead the bbc have just messed up reinventing the legend and i don't think the third series will work as well
if she's alive, they've just repeated the first series shock and wasted an episode with an 'and it was all a dream' finale.
grrr, annoying.
i'll stick be watching it though :)

i like your ideas but am sad to say i think she is dead!session 3 will be the last of robin hood as jonas is leaving after this one and well to have a robin hood without well robin wouldnt work! and for her smiling at gizzy i think she was in pain and ther being no blood well the show goes out at 7 or before 7 in the U.K so its before the watershed so no blood!

I have to agree with skull... Jonas is leaving in Season 3 and I do not see how the writers/producers can keep the show alive without the man who made Robin Hood popular. I am not certain of the reasons behind the death of Marian but it may have to do with Robin Hood's departure. The writers may have sought to "shock" the audience. Either way, I am upset at losing Marian's character (cried my eyes out!). I have no idea how season 3 will start and end....

wow someone agreed with me! woo!i think the raeson marion was klled off was the actress who plays her wanted to do other things! i know she has a new tv show starting but i dont know what its called just heard it!i was really pissed off for like weeks "they can't have robin hood without marion!"but indeed they can i too cried my eyes out well once i had left my living room!! but i think with her murder robin will be more kick ass and be more kinda rawwr! am robin fucking hood!if u get my point!

I've already read how Robin is older and completely bent on revenge for Marian's murder. I think the writers/producers will attempt to shift the focus away from Robin Hood the man and more on the legend of Robin Hood. I am going to really miss the Robin/Marian chemistry and Jonas' pretty face!
