  • I loved watching this series when I was a child.

  • beeb watching it for 40 years and im not sorry for that ..smiling beautiful people in the show ..... bless

  • A true image of grey, soggy England

    What a horror

    Singapore forever

  • Did you know that outdoor set was indoors then?

  • USA here. Love Ena- she's an old battle-ax like my Granny, but we love Granny anyway.

  • Thanks for the memories.

  • this is just the audio - I feel cheated

  • The 1960s music doesn't sound any different to the 2008 version but the colour and picture looks a lot different.

  • Eastenders and Emmerdale is more Panto but Corrie is and always has been slapstick. love all 3

  • It has changed actually (only slightly) as johnmartin1097 said in the description box compare with the 2008 version, and actually it has gotten slower over the years.

  • fan-bloody-tastic. My mums friend is the creator of corrie (tony warren) i watched corrie from at least 86, but still the black n white episodes are the classics, the tune has NOT changed one bit. TIMELESS X

  • Unfortunately the cast and plots have deteriorated drastically. I reckon you should 'ave a wird in Mr Warren's little ols shell pink about resurrecting an Ena Sharples type character or maybe at least an Hilda Ogden type character. Its what the fans want luv.

  • That theme tune is timeless.

  • Amazing, it hasn't changed a bit or maybe Ken Barlow's put a bit of weight on?

  • i bet the director can't stand this anymore :P

  • I have watched every episode since I was 6 years old and I can also play this on an accordian.

  • I remember it first time around and although I was never a fan this does bring back strong memories.

  • it's hardly different these days, unlike doctor who, which in the 60's sound very different

  • Makes me feel VERY young, this is before my parents time. Lol, even Rosie Webster and David Platt are from before my time ;)

  • windos movie maker lol

  • I can't stand soaps now but if you had a 60s childhood this immediately takes you right back.

  • When this started on the TV back in 1960, I was 4 years old, and I could hear the music from my bedroom on our new Slimline, Murphy Astra TV, which was about the size of a Transit van. Bedtime was at 7 PM sharp, no later. We had no central heating, frost on the inside of the bedroom windows in the winter, and an outside loo. Bloody hell, good ol' days or what. Thanks for posting.

  • Sounds a bit Johnny Roadhouse style?

  • Brilliance.

  • Can someone please download the first epidode?

  • BCJ1985, I wonder if the tune has had to be re-recorded before now to preserve quality and longevity?

  • Actually believe it or not this is the exact same recording that is used today!

I think this particular version was recorded in the late 60s

  • @johnmartin1097 they jyst digitalize

  • The theme tune at end is actually the same, although nowadays it's cut very short. The opening theme has been tweaked though.

  • @BCJ1985 you're right - its interesting to note that for the recent revamp theyve reverted back to the what was this ending (and also used it on the opening) except of course the end is shorter as you say. It has those added notes, the 'inbetween' notes I call them, that have been missing for years. However I think they sound better on this old recording than on the new 'digital' recording.
