I think redshirting Gardner would be a good move. He has all the tools but like one of the comment I read stated that he has to adjust to the speed of the college games. I think forcier and Robinson will do fine this year. And I think people fail to remember that forcier and Robinson were freshman last year. Shit a majority of that team last year were freshman and sophomores. Hopefully they learned from there experience last year and play solid the whole year not just a quarter of it
If anyone seriously thinks he has a chance to dtart over forcier you are point blank retarted, if u wanna argue go watch some of forcier's high school videos and look at how much more he's done for us then sheridan or whats his nuts did
He throws similar to Vince young, but I think he'll rotate in and out with Tate like Robinson did last year. Tate will have the experience to start, but I don't think they have the depth at QB to redshirt gardner, unless robinson improves a lot.
Gardner will have to get used to the game speed of college ball. He won't be able to run around like that as a freshman, they got D-ends that run as fast as he does. Tate did fairly well against the buckeyes, They are one of the top defenses in the nation. even Oregon struggled against them in the rosebowl. Tates arm will the factor for him to start this year.
Forcier is going to be the starter because Gardner needs to adjust to the college game but he will be constantly nipping at Forcier's heels for the job. I believe Gardner will play a significant role - if they do not redshirt him, and I cannot wait to see the offense this year with a healthy Molk, Toussaint, Smith, White, and Shaw all fighting for the starting HB spot and the rotation between the three QBs. Our O will have to shine at the beginning of the season to allow our D to get prepared
UM would be smart to redshirt Gardner for a year and let Forcier try to lead the team next year. Robinson should move to slot. If Forcier fails next year, we have the #1 rated QB to back him up.
tate is anything but the man.....he trew what 5 picks vs osu, after thinking about transfering the week before ... i like tate and shoe lace robinson but there both young and will probley be back ups before the end of the year to devin gardner!! hail to the victors
TATE IS THE SHIT!!!!! Tate is getting better and better. robinson is garbage. if tate didnt get hurt every game last year, then denard wouldnt have come in and threw all the picks that lost us the game. id say 3 loses were denards fault not tates.
@brianblakwood Let's be real. Tate is a better quarterback, but Denard Robinson is anything BUT garbage. Against Iowa, they knew we were going to run him every time, and he still scored a touchdown like that.
He will probably move somewhere else after this year, and will be like a Percy Harvin. Watch Denard is going to be as important as Tate and Devin, just not at quarterback
forcier showed a lot of promise early last season against terrible opponents. as the year went on it became more and more clear he was not the QB of the future. hopefully gardner can come in an take his job away as rich rod has already hinted at
His mechanics are awesome. He can throw well, run well and read the D well. This kid is gonna is gonna go pro once he's done at Michigan. My fellow maize and blue OUR MESSIAH - HE HAS ARRIVED.
it amazes me how many of you know nothing about football and are just bandwagon fans, judging by a lot of comments here. shut your mouth and watch a game before commenting
Forcier and robinson are transfering no doubt espically if this kid come to michigan. I like robinson but since forcier has been choking since the 5th game and couldnt win any big ones i hope he loses he cost us the game against OSU.... GO BLUE!!!
you have no idea about what you are talking about. With the exception of the OSU game, the defense is what choked for us this year. Gardner is not the god everybody is making him out to be. He played like shit in the state final today. Granted his coach is an idiot for running on third and 8 and then calling a bootleg pass on 4th and inches and . I was at the game today and was not impressed. Tate will start and Denard will be put in a wildcat position.
oh and smallfry.. he didn't run or look to his full potential because he had some injuries goin into the game.. i think hamstring and shoulder so expect better outta Gardner.
um.. neither of them are gonna transfer.. you forget that denard cost us the Iowa game even though they didnt deserve that game to begin w/ and at the time the ND game was a pretty big one even though they ended up sucking.. oh and you can't blame the entire osu game on tate.. here's a thought?? OSU was a BETTER football team. they will both stay atleast this next season Denard will end up like a percy harvin player and who knows about tate after this season?? GO BLUE!
Tate Forcier didnt' make rookie quarterback mistakes against OSU, He's had an entire season to work out rookie mistakes. The mistakes he made were just those of a bad quarterback who doesn't 1. trust his recievers and 2. have the field vision that a good quarterback must have.
The answer is that you call him a rookie. Tate Forcier is a "rookie." Hence, he 1) doesn't trust his receivers as much as he will...2) Doesn't have the field vision that he will in the future.
Exactly. Look at Matt Barkley. He was supposedly the quarterback recruit of the decade. All the skills, everything you look for, and he was surrounded by a bevy of five-star recruits. Yet his team went 8-4 and he struggled. Very few freshmen have the kind of success people expected from Tate.
Chad HEnne, of course, is an exception, but consider that he was throwing to three future NFL stars in Braylon Edwards, Jason Avant, and Steve Breaston
not every freshman QB comes in and has a great year like Chad Henne did. He's a good QB and a smart one most of the time. Becoming a good QB doesn't happen in half a season.
@MrElder88 He had a couple bad games and a few good games. In the bad games he sucked, and in the good, he was amazing. He's a good player for a freshman, if only he was consistently good, hopefully he will be next year.
@7Bader11 i dunno tate played like shit at the end of the year and had no pocket presence after showing tremendous presence the first 4 games...if robinson hangs in the pocket and stops overthrowing people he would be the starter, though id rather trust tate then denard...we will have to see i guess
@7Bader11 eat your words!!! forcier is not even startin anymore and its look like he aint even second string..... they took the wings off of his helmet until he earnz em back...
I think redshirting Gardner would be a good move. He has all the tools but like one of the comment I read stated that he has to adjust to the speed of the college games. He is already giving defensive coordinators in the Big Ten nightmares. Every bit as fast as Pryor, but bigger stronger and a better passer.
lemond234 2 years ago
@lemond234 He's actually a little smaller than Pryor (Devin's only 6'4" 195, Pryor's closer to 6'6" 235). But you're right he is a WAY better passer.

What do you call a first year QB in the NFL?
The answer is that you call him a rookie. Tate Forcier is a "rookie." Hence, he 1) doesn't trust his receivers as much as he will...2) Doesn't have the field vision that he will in the future.
