  • I love Youtube! Because of it I have been painlesly introduced to quite a few awesome bands like PRR and Pendulum, to name two. I'm definitely buying their albums.

  • the best song ever from PRR

  • Super muzyka. Jeden z 2 albumów, z których lubię każdą piosenkę z albumu. Wielka szkoda, że ich druga płyta to jest szit...

  • All prog fans should definitely check Ephrat - young band from Israel, their first album was produced by Steve Wilson himself - that should be the best recomendation. Album's entitled No one's words.

  • So far the three biggies are PRR, Steve Inc, and Oceansize, so any other prog is more then welcome.

  • chloe alper is lookin hawtttt

  • just buy the album? :)

  • I would also like to add that you guys should all check out Mountain Mirrors. I think the guy only has a myspace page but his music is excellent. Listen to "Afterlife" if you want to hear what I mean.

  • oh I was gonna suggest RPWL and Satellite also

  • Gotta love the aeronautical sounds in this one!

  • oceansize too

  • Amazing band!

  • im kinda new to prog rock, can someone like tell me some good bands to listen to? id appreciate it

  • Porcupine Tree, THIS BAND here in the video(really awesome band), A Perfect Circle, Pineapple Thief, Riverside,Yes, Ashes Divide. Tool and Dream Theater are more prog metal and maybe also Muse and Blackfield...but that's not really prog rock but also good rock music.

  • Blackfield is Purcupine Tree almost, its Steven Wilson and the songs hit you more directly emotionally, or alteast they do to me, but I am more of a PT fan than Blackfield.

This stuff is pretty good though!

  • The best Prog rock band is Muse.

  • Yah, i know. i listen to them and co and ca, so i was looking to see all the other cool prog rock bands.

  • Try listening to King Crimson, Genesis...Great Bands.

  • If you are new to prog; classic Genesis and Gentle Giant are my recomendations. Also Yes, Gryphon and Van der Graaf Generator.

  • ...and mine to add to that list are Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (ELP), and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO).

Namely the albums Tarkus and Brain Salad Surgery by ELP and Eldorado by ELO (their other work is amazing, but not necessarily all out prog)

  • Porcupine Tree, Opeth (who are more metal but have many progressive elements), Oceansize, Dredg, earlier Tool. Muse is good but I don't really think they're prog rock. Some people like Riverside as well.

  • great taste in music and good advice, except for the Tool bit. Early Tool is not at all Progressive, the only Tool album that even slightly resembles Prog is 10,000 days, which is their latest work.

  • I'd argue that Tool from Lateralus on is progressive. Lateralus is definitely more progressive than 10,000 days.

  • I agree with cheesy - great taste in music. Maybe you could add Fair To Midland in there as well - Fables of A Mayfly is a masterpiece, I lived and breathed it for a year. Plus maybe A Perfect Circle, maybe a bit more progressive than Tool, even if not as good...

  • good tastes nan. Porcupine Tree is wicked, opeth is grand, riverside is exellent but not for everyone. Not a fan of tool, never really got into them but they do have great talent.

Another thing to add is seventh wonder a band that I have been listening for a long time, they are a progressive metal act from sweden; their musianship, songwriting is great, backed by a phenominal vocalist.

Karmakanic is good, exp there new album, who is the boss at the factory.

  • @Balenciaga37 MAy want to check out Rishloo's Feathergun CD and KArnivool's Sound Awake cd.

  • interesting merge of prog and grunge

  • Don´t forget rush.

  • Man, you guys, there are a whole lot more prog bands out there besides just Pure reason and Porcupine tree. Check out stuff like Vanden Plas, Threshold, Symphony X, Circus Maximus, Pyramaze, Enchant, Riverside, Opeth to name a very very few

  • .......pure reason just have one album, and vanden plas its metal,Symphony X sucks(cuz its the same all the time, Circus Maximus its more metal and pure metal......prog bands are Yes,Gentle Giant,Riverside,Liquid tension,Beardfish,Magic pie,The tangent, etc....

  • And Liquid Tension doesnt play metal?

    Really now

  • I saw Opeth in 2006 and they're really fuckin' great! Their masterpiece is "Still Life", from '99...

    Francisco

    Porto

  • I totally agree. The new Porcupine Tree is fucking brilliant! This and the new porcupine tree are two of my favorite post 2000 prog rock albums.

  • best band in prog rock in a decade if you ask me

  • Porcupine Tree, man, Porcupine Tree...

I just got there album, and it has some pretty awesome stuff on it!
