Saw him in Charlie and the Chocolate factory as a kid, I think it was after I started loving the book and Roald Dahl's works, then I saw him again by coincidence because I decided to drop in on some guy streaming a movie I had never heard of: The Producers.

Now I just absolutely love him, and the love isn't even clouded by childhood nostalgia. I had forgotten I'd ever seen him before!

Yes and no.

Don't know why you'd think of the 70s, but you're right in that it's not in '91.

They are talking about "The Woman in Red", which was released in 1984. And in the end Wilder mentions writing on "Haunted Honeymoon", which was released in '86. So, this interview was shot somewhere between '84 and '86.
