Lord bless them and protect them, Lord shield them and relieve them. Lord look with mercy upon them and show them your Grace. For oh Lord, we hold them dear.
I want it known that here's a Yank who is proud of all our Canadian sisters and brothers who bore arms for their country.. And, damned glad we fought together as allies.. GOD Bless you, Big Maple Leaf..
@clam502 I realize I was stating the obvious.. It, I thought, with your Thanksgiving coming up, was my rather small way of thanking the good people of your nation for welcoming me, and making me feel like family.. Especially those folks, in a place called, Salvage, Newfoundland.. Leaving Salvage was almost like leaving home..
Then he saw that we were all ready to do our duty if need be. That when it clicked i think. He saw why we honored them because that could be us or a friend or a man willing to sacrifice for his people.
In greman they all dont like to talk of the war. or remeber there men who died that some what saddens me. Those men died in vien even though they were the enemy. They will not be remeber.
He looked at me funny and replyed I still dont see why it wasnt your friend and even if it was one of your reletives you proably never meet them or really knew them.
I said we pay our respects to them for saving the world they are heroes of old. They must be remeber for if we do not who will. Who will remeber the deaths the sacrifices. Who will remeber the price paid for freedom. We will. To stop this from ever happening again.
This German exchange student came over during nov. he went to a remberance day assembly and he asked me why we all remebered the deaths the killing. Why would we remeber this all why not just let it go.
A few other kids heard him and all gave him a very odd look. And I said to him they stop a great evil and save many inoccent people from the slaughter. they laid down there lives for king and country.

Obviously a truly moving ceremony. But the music being played is called "Going Home" and is often played with Amazing Grace, at least it always was when I played it. Just for clarities sake. Thanks ot all who serve, And may the wind always be at your backs, Jocks.
