  • people are so stupid i swear just ask yourself why do indy and gt cars rev so high when you figure that out then y'all realize why this supra does not saying its necessary for a street car but if this cars being road raced i would love to see those times seeing how fast it revs and how high still with plenty of torque its perfect

  • @mj20042 "fart can" is not a type of exhaust. That is just what non-turbo 4-cylinders all sound like when fitted with open exhausts. But if the only other option is the $25 Flowmaster installed under every 3rd truck on the road at the local muffler shop, I'll take the high-flowing straight-through muffler since Im a function-over-form kind of guy. *Flame Suit On*

  • @JLindenwood Uh, yeah it is. Have you never seen the damn steel coffee can coming out the back of the average ricemobile? That's a fart can. It's the typical standby of the majority of import people. It might be functional, but it sounds like crap and it's unimaginative. You rarely see a dual exhaust, or even side exaust set-up with even a simple high-flow muffler. It's almost always just a single fart can coming out at an angle at the back.

  • Ya know, I love 2JZ supras, but there is no reason to go to 10,500 rpms. That is strictly for show and kind of retarted. If you look up a guy named "Ryan Woon" his supra runs 8.70's and is one of the fastest supras in the world, and his supra pushes 1400 hp and only revs to about 8000 rpm. This guy only did that for show. Still a nice Supra, doesnt nearly take the win tho

  • @SleeperB18C2 Actually I know Ryan, and the guys that helped build the car, His rev limit is 9700rpm. So you really do not know what you are talking about. He revs to 9500rpm in 4th gear in the very drag runs you are talking about...

  • For all you guys posting and confusing everyone on youtube because you have no idea what you are talking about should probably stop. The stroke of an engine is only determined by the crank offset, nothing else! Longer rods will not give you more displacement and shorter rods will not give you more displacement. To revv an engine higher some people destroke it and get longer rods. This gives you a better rod angle and slower piston speeds which allows you to revv higher safer.

  • Long rod set up similar to lamborghinis and other v12s gives it the crazy rev range for being a low compression motor. Id guess its a 3.4l stroker with longer rods and smaller combustion chamber. My buddies got a R32 with an RB26, and he's running that setup. Check out "tpg tuning" on here and facebook for more info about the setup.

    hey man just curious, i thought that a rod kit would "shorten or lengthen the stroke"

    so if he has longer rods to decrease the size of the fuel/air being mixed wouldnt that make it smaller than 3.0L as opposed to shortening the rods allowing for a larger stroke (more fuel input) which would give less of a usable rev range and more torque.

    the reason i ask is that having longer rods and a stroker kit doesnt make sense to me

    you use longer rods and a offset ground crank or custom crank so that the piston moves further down the cylinder, putting more of the energy from the combustion into the crank. because the crank has a larger swing there is effectively a levering force on it. that is where the extra toque comes from. in theory you can increase the engine toque without really increasing power (why a lot a JGTC cars use larger capacity V8s rather then 4cyl)

  • @d4nr055 a stoker kit is longer rods and offset crank. alternatively you maybe able to have a 'mini' stroker by using custom pistons where the pin is higher up in the piston, obviously standard pistons could not do this as they would poke out the top of the block

  • @ purple you need to do some more research before making these comments. The aspiration of the motor does not dictate the RPM capibilities. The the build of componets do. The pistons, rods , crank, valvetrain do. You have NO IDEA the specs of the internal so how can you say what it can and can't rev to?

  • @Laser90dsm you can't tell me that you can tune a turbocharged engine for revin' just as high as a tight-ass built NA engine does... it's not only about the used parts, but about pressures inside the engine... with a high combustion-pressure (turbo), the engine will never be able to rev very fast but every hit on the piston is much harder, so you get more torque and more power without increasing the revs (most of the time a turbo'd engine revs even slower than it did before modifying...)

    *sigh* What you don't realize is that though it's not common for people to make their supras rev higher, it is still possible to do while running a high amount of boost. All you need to do is safely shorten the engine stroke (there are many ways to do this, i.e. valvetrain work, lightened crankshaft) while tuning the car so as to prevent detonation in the cylinders under high boost. This is something that requires expertise, something only places like Boostlogic can handle.

    And you don't see it very often because it's very expensive. Most people prefer working with the turbo-set up and leave their valvetrain alone. N/A engine internal modification is always possible to do on any gas engine, it just isn't as cost-effective at times. Ideally, you want both, but most people just do whatever they can with the turbo system and bottom end that will allow them run high boost with big turbos to make power instead of concentrating on how high it revs.

  • i'm not a hater, i love any straight-6 and the supra (at least the JZA-80) is awesome, but seriously; we all know that it's just impossible to reach 10k+ rpm if an engine is massively turbocharged like the 2JZ here... i mean there are "spoon" civics which can rev over 10k, but these are NA plus those are high-reving engines without torque but revs instead - already stock... a 2JZ never used to be such an engine due to it's twin-turbos so... i believe you it has 1187whp, but 10500rpm? NO.

  • @purpleGoAhead It defintely sounds like it's hitting 10 grand! IF the crank and rods and valvetrain are up to it then there is no reason it can't hit those sort of revs. Would of cost a fortune though.

  • hey supraman is the motor in this car a 2jz head on a 1jz? or do u know? ive never seen a 2jz supra do that. but 1j powered cars ive seen a few. with a 71 mm stroke that block could easily with out too much headwork besides the valve springs and all that rev to 10k easily
