Thank you for this beautiful song! It was one of my Dad's favorites and I'm thinking about him a lot today- his birthday was December 25 and he's gone now. He always made our family holidays so very special. I miss him but I know one day, I'll have supper with him again. Have a blessed Christmas, and Happy Birthday, Dad. Thank you for everything.
This song always reduces me to tears. I think that almost all of us can think of someone we have lost, and this song inevitably brings those lost loved ones to mind. And, of course, Jim Reeves's voice is so warm, so gentle, so caressing in itself--a perfect complement to this gentle and loving song.
DEAR MOM DIED WHILE I CRADLED HER HEAD IN MY HAND yesterday evening. I get that sick sad feeling in my gut when I hear this song cause as a little boy I would see her cry when someone played this song at one of the various parks we'd visit on Saturday nights or Sunday afternoons. Mom was 90 but I still miss her a lot. She's with Jesus now and I can't wait to get there to hug her and dad again. buddy, David
my grandpa sang this song every mothers day and he pastaway and went to the good lord above and when i hurd this song i just couldnt help but cry i miss him so much
I live in Trinidad,as i listen to this song i am remembering my mom calling us as we would be outside playing.
Then one of my brother went home to Jesus, now it's been so many years since my mom went to meet him, it's as if it was only yesterday that we would hear her calling, thank God we will meet some great day.
I also grew up in Barbados and Jim Reeves was the only music we listened too. i often wish those days could return. Folks were poor but were very contented with their lives. Unlike now, no one cares about each other. So sad.
I grew up in Barbados in the West Indies. My Mom and all of the others mothers would go outside and yell to us to "Come Home Its supper Time" What wonderful memories this song brings back to me.
This was one of my Mothers favorite songs and was played at her services. I miss her encouraging and loving voice but know she is resting in peace, walking beside our precious Lord above.
Who wouldn't fall in love with gentleman Jim's music, if ones daddy had to play those lovely songs early mornings over the weekend (when he didn't have to go to work)? When the songs were heard right from dreamland?
I did fall in love with them then as a kid, and much more from my late teens as a born again Christian.
In my 40's now, I still miss those early mornings, getting off bed to see my dad dreamingly listening to those tunes...

@dagenhamdaveNo1 Don't mention. I'll keep in touch with you in the coming days and months since I am bookmarking the Jim Reeves songs. If I can find more corrections that can improve information data on him, I will gladly notify you. I didn't care much for his very early recordings, but by the second half of the fifties he finally became the Jim Reeves everybody loves. Other singers do things the opposite way: excellent in their first recordings, then declining (some of them quite fast!) See ya!
@dagenhamdaveNo1 Who needs credit? I don't! Just keep on with your good work 'cause you deserve the credit! Small problem though: Jim Reeves is also responsible for many nice cowboy songs, sentimental ones too! But you seem to be interested only by the religious ones!
@ENACODNOM Most of the religious ones are requests from other YouTubers. There are 11 non-religious songs. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Scarlet Ribbons Is It Really Over Distant Drums My Happiness Moonlight and Roses Guilty But You Love Me Daddy Mother of a Honky Tonk Girl Snowflake From A Jack To A King
@dagenhamdaveNo1 Thanks a lot! Mind you, I have nothing against religious songs. I am interested in the lyrics only the first two or three times I hear a song. Otherwise, it's especially the voice, the style of singing and the melody that keep me interested over the decades if they are pleasing to my ears.
this song has taken my breathe away, its really a good song for those with heavy heart for at the end thier greatest father will give them a good n everlasting supper
Love his voice! We were traveling through New Mexico in 1964 when it came over the radio that Jim had gone home. Sad, sad day for country music and us.
David, the video made the song even more touching. The minute it came on with the song, I got a 'speck of sand in my eye' that wouldn't go away the whole time that at times it was a bit difficult to view the video because of all the tears. OUTSTANDING!!! AWESOME!!! FANTASTIC!!!! Such beautiful work. THANK YOU SO MUCH for putting such a beautiful video together and sharing it. gloria

I am pleased that my video has brought you happy memories. You are about the same age as my late daughter who passed away in July 2005 to whom this channel is dedicated and to our mutual love of Jim Reeves songs.
Although Jim's songs are quite old, they have stood the test of times that they still sound better than a lot of these contemporary country songs. Jim, rest in peace.
This song really bring back good times and good memories of my mother, she is still alive and i am loving every moment of it while making many more sweet memories with her. beautiful song, THANKS!
Thank you for letting me in to that little part of your life. It was a very sad day for all of Jim's fans but thankfully he left behind many recordings for us to enjoy for many years.
This song suppertime reminds me of my early childhood back in the Philippines, my loving parents meticulously gather us (10 siblings) around the table and gave thanks to Lord Jesus for the bounty even though sometimes there was not enough food over the table because my father's income was not enough to meet our needs considering of our huge family, however with our determination and most importantly with God's grace we're able to overcome that hardships. Most of us in Canada nowadays, God Bless.
A lovely song and one I have not heard before. This gentleman was my dad's favourite! The gentle man sings beautifully and hits the heart every time. Thank you for posting it and allowing me to relive some memories of my dad. Best wishes from England.
I am very pleased that my video brings to you many happy memories of your dear father.I upload these videos for my late daughter who also liked Jim Reeves songs, so I can appreciate what these songs must mean to you.
Best wishes to you up there in Geordieland from down here in the big smoke known as Greater London.
Thank you lloyd for your comment. All pictures were found on the web by looking for many hours over 2 or3 days. Comments like yours make the time spent worthwhile.
I upload similar items myself and you are to be congratulated on the trouble taken to match the photos with the words. This brings back memories to me also. All in all this is a very touching video and I will favourite it and play it regularily. Thank you for uploading it. 40theG
Thank you for your kind comments re my videos and thanks also for saving to favourites. The program I use is quite simple, the hardest part is finding the pictures. It can take many hours over a few days to find what I think are the best pics for the song. I am glad that you are pleased with the results and that they bring many happy memories back to you,
Love your videos. The way you picture this video is wonderful. You are a blessing to many including my family. By the way, are you the youngest boy in the picture of three kids?
Thanks for the kind comments about my video and I hope you like the others i have made too. By the way it is not me in that picture, like the others it was found by surfing the net.
This one always makes me cry. I think of my mother, my father, my brother Stanley, my uncle Earl, my aunt Susie: so many others who have passed beyond the setting sun.
I shall look forward to your cover of this beautiful song. I hope I am not tempting fate but I am well at tha moment but my Grand son was quite ill with some type of gastric flu and my daughter went down with it last week.
I remember hearing this song in the church I grew up in and it has always been a favorite of mine.I can't wait until we all gather around Jesus for "suppertime".Thank you so very much for posting this.
Oh..this brings back such great memories of my childhood.......Thank you and God Bless you for posting this....

I am very pleased that my video brings to you many happy memories of your dear father.I upload these videos for my late daughter who also liked Jim Reeves songs, so I can appreciate what these songs must mean to you.
Best wishes to you up there in Geordieland from down here in the big smoke known as Greater London.

Lyrics can be downloaded from many sites on the wem.

To each his/her own. for you Johnny Cash, for me Jim Reeves.

This one always makes me cry. I think of my mother, my father, my brother Stanley, my uncle Earl, my aunt Susie: so many others who have passed beyond the setting sun.

I am not told to labour
To put away my sin;
So foolish, weak, and helpless,
I never could begin.
But blessed truth — I know it!
Though ruined by the fall,
Christ for my soul hath suffered,
Yes, Christ has done it all!

I can sure relate to this song. it's sad to think the children of today will never know the true meaning of this song
Boomer1947 3 years ago 3
Even sadder is the thought that very few of them will ever hear this song let alone know the meaning of it.
Thanks for your time leaving your comment.
