  • a long time ago i had for example milk to breakfast and oatmeal and i was training and feeld good! and then when ortorexhia hit me i started to avoid milk and oats and so on! and to day i am feeling very bad! no energy and so on! Its very bad for you to say thats it sick to call it ortorexhia! for some persons this is really a problem! and you should respect that some people including me dont want to be in this dogmatic healthy thinking! how the fuck can milk be bad! ones a time it was heroin.

  • He sounds like a conspiracy theorist. In the description, he suggests that there is a scam to keep us eating unhealthy food. WTF? Orthorexia isn't health-consciousness. It's an unhealthy health-obsession. Orthorexia means you can't relax & enjoy a meal because you have unhealthy anxiety about food not being organic, having fat/sugar in it… it's like a subtype of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

  • Paying attention to what we eat is something sane when there are so many unhealthy things in shops. What is insane is going to extremes and want to eat only "pure"things, and think only of food, all day long..In that sense ,we can say that orthorexia exists, but it concerns fragile people..It is also a symptom of our lives deprived of sense :health and longevity have become obessions and new gods for many people.this is the dark side of rawfoodism in my opinion: exploiting the fear of dying.

  • Fact: Anyone can call themselves a "clinical nutritionist".

Fact: Orthorexia isn't just being obsessed with nutrition. It's obsession that has lead to dangerous health problems.

  • orthorexia means something like if somebody eats only raw vegan diet without fruits because sugar is bad ,starches are bad etc. and end up in hospital like a skeleton or even dies like Kate Finn ,orthorexia causing harm ,healthy eating doesn't. big difference. just some crazy nutritionists call orthorexic the vegetarians or those who eat unprocessed well balanced diet ,just don't listen to them...

  • People are brainwashed everyday! If you pay attention in commercial they always say healthy foods are gross and bad for you. And they claim if you buy their products with high fructose corn syrup(and other bad crap), that you'll be "healther" and "look" better... Like the fiber one commercials.

  • When it becomes an obsession and it begins to eat away at your life it is a problem. When u won't even eat a vegetable cooked at over 116 degrees because the nutrients have been significantly reduced. That is a problem. When u start to only be able to eat vegetables freshly picked. That is a problem. It's an extreme obsession with being healthy therefore becoming unhealthy.

  • Has anyone complaining about this disease watched the video report? It's obvious that the 2 people they interviewed did in fact suffer health problems from taking an organic/raw diet to the extreme. The video also states that both individuals had suffered from other eating disorders prior to this one.

  • Just type in "John Stossel Orthorexia" in the YouTube search box and both parts of the report will come up.

  • this guy is fat..he is ill....

  • John Stossel is a libertarian fucktard, that thinks corporations should be able to put arsenic in your food and get away with it.

  • they should make a disorder for those who make up disorders

  • Drugs are more cost effective than therapy, so the business model has shifted more to drug treatment. If you have the $ or insurance, therapy, if not, one hour evaluation, followed by a drug prescription. If therapy were the norm, these video's might be less necessary. Mental health is to expensive, so maybe, finding self help methods are often good. Someone who ended up with a drug prescription, and little else, has a lot of use for video's like this one.

  • ughh its liek the guys full of shit I rather be Orthorexic then anerexic or bulimic or obese or anything else like people who mindlessly shovel shit in there mouths r normal wtf r u smoking

  • O my god!! Do you watch the news orthoREXIA is a DISEASE IT KILLS PPL!!!!

  • I saw on the local news this week that 1 out of 4 adults in San Diego county have a mental illness and 1 out 5 children! I never heard such a straight out lie in my life. They want people to think they have a mental illness to buy drugs for profit.

  • Orthorexia nervosa is completely real. It is not about refusing to eat foods with white flour, and high fructose corn syrup, that is being healthy. People suffering from orthorexia nervosa have a problem where mentally, they cannot make themselves consume anything that is not 100% natural and fat-free, sugar-free, etc. Sugars and fats are necessary in a diet to live a healthy lifestyle, which is why this disorder is such an issue. Stop being ignorant and close-minded, it's not about corn syrup.

  • Do you still make videos? Because I'm so glad I found this one. Totally agree.

  • "Orthorexic" and Proud.. !

jesus breathing will be attributed to a mental disorder next..!

why be killed early by monsanto and made ill by eating poison...!

  • @SovereignBeing When I first heard of this I'm like "A mental disease that I want!!! xD"

  • @singlaprety12 i know,, its just another label so doctors can identify you with it and medicate...

Although one girl i saw on tv, an 'orthorexic' who only ate fruit for 2yrs was of course very, very sick.. but generally its a very good thing not to want to ingest the lethal toxins that are in the stuff they call food here.. knowledge is definately power here.

  • Our pharmaseutical institution is mentally ill so they should bassically use their own products on them selfs and see how that works out

Those mother fucking capitalist scumbags (put 100 cursewords here)

    sickness=profit=sickness=profit

  • I am a psych major and most DSM diagnoses are just attention seeking behavior that became a habit until they got the attention they wanted.

  • I respect the things that he said but I still believe that orthorexia is a potential eating disorder (it is not officially recognized as one yet). The main thing that worries me (and makes me believe that orthorexia is an eating disorder) is that some people (I'm not saying all!) eliminate a LOT of food (and/or food groups) from their diets and it's making them lose weight, and that is what I think is making orthorexia "dangerous."

  • @hxnnxhisapirate - food groups like what..?? give up dairy and be much better from not ingesting pus, growth hormones and bacteria, diseases, etc..

U get yr calcium from leafy veg instead.. ! or take high quality supplements... food is so deficient anyway.. its not like you are missing out on anything by limiting the foods that are not beneficial to U personally..or collectively.. i.e wheat is a 'slave ' food it encourages compliance & subserviance, every thing has a consciousness and affects u

  • There's no doubt in my mind that we are living in an environment that almost guarantees that you will get sick.

  • orthorexia is a real. maybe you don't know anyone like that but i do. she is a skeleton, is loseing her hair, and her teeth are breakig because they are so brittle. she will not eat anything but sprouts and certain raw veggies. healthy is good. but if you overdo anything its not healthy. thats what they are trying to make us aware of. and im glad they are. ifyou ever saw anybody with this problem you would feel differently

  • Anything is a mental disease nowadays.

  • ...but to label someone a nut for striving towards health, fitness and longevity, is just a crock of sh*t.

  • "Orthorexa" is an absolute joke!! This guy is spot on the money. To label someone mentally ill because they chose to eat what our bodies are biologically designed to eat is an insult. And dont try and tell me its the "mental" disorder that orthorexia refers to otherwise they would have named a disorder for people who drive with two hands on the wheel and checking their mirrors regularly. If you realy are over-meticulous about anything you just have OCD...

  • Isn't Kevin Trudeau a scam artist, according to almost everything I saw in the internet? Ehh...

  • yes he is. i don't trust him at all. yet what he is saying about the pharmaceutical companies makes perfect sense. i'm not going to buy any of his books anytime soon, but there is no denying that drug companies make money from sick people.

  • @Skeptic87 just bang down another 90 mg of Adderall you'll be fine...

  • @HerrSpieldose Ridiculous comment, go do something important.

  • . We need more REAL food available and we shouldn't have to pay more to have less ingredients on the label. We are poisoning ourselfs and those of us who try to exercise choice not to be poisoned have a tendancy to STARVE! Not what God intended for us as human beings.

  • Erm... "the only PRETTY girl there" was pretty because she was skinny??!!

This is a fantasticly evolved vid, but dude, you so let yourself down by jumping on the size/ health myth bandwagon!

  • Eating healthy is not same as orthorexia. Orthorexia is a menthal disorder (it is!) and it controls your life. You can't live a normal life, because rules about food surround you 24/7. Please, read/watch something what people with orthorexia had made (like here on YT) and you'll maybe understand that.

  • I don't think you understand what Orthorexia is. Please do research on it, and don't go into a personal rant on the culture you dislike. Orthorexics resrict until they waste away and die.

  • That is ANorexia. God damn.

  • no, they're very similar. People with anorexia are concerned with their weight, people with orthorexia are concerned with their health to an unhealthy degree. The end stages are similar. Anorexics restrict their food, and so do orthorexics, until one day nothing is healthy or pure enough for them to digest. do some research, and take a look at people who suffer from true orthorexia, they look very similar to anorexics. There's a difference b/t being health conscious and health obsessed.

  • John Stossel? Oh, man, I really liked that guy... this is disappointing news...

  • I have greatly enjoyed some of the videos on this site, but the woeful ignorance of mental illness and the poor research put into this video deeply disturbed me. Please remove it.

  • Any behavior obsessed over to such an extreme that it is disruptive to your life can be a mental illness, regardless of the good intentions behind it. I've known someone who was so overly obsessed with eating healthily and exercising that he became extremely depressed and suicidal, and made himself very sick despite being a healthy weight. Any legitimate psychiatrist or therapist can differentiate between a health conscious person and someone whose health obsession is destroying their life.

  • Just about anything you can think of can be a mental disorder, I don't put much stock in the DSM

  • I wasn't talking about the DSM, however I find it to be very accurate. The words can be twisted by anyone to mean something they don't, but a trained therapist understands what's at the heart of it and can recognize when something is a disorder not just a behavior.

  • I am very careful about what I eat, and I recognize that our society supports big business to the detriment of us and our health, but even I understand an obsession with healthy eating can fall under the definition of a mental illness.

  • This video, like many of your others is filled with misinformation. Here are the issues with it: Kevin Trudeau is a scam artist, citing him destroys your credibility. Secondly, the APA has not recognized Orthorexia as a mental illness. Third, even if they did, only an obsessive preoccupation with healthy eating would qualify as a disorder. Simply eating healthy wouldn't. Its your responsibility to do legitimate research, not wait for a qualified person to come behind you and correct your points.

  • Anybody who says that vigilance of nutrition is a mental illness is totally absurd! At least that any of us who well aware of how much our flawed FDA is poisoning us is actually common sense. As a Conservative Christian, I know that God wants us to become aware of it, before civilization gets poisoned to death by them. So, how dare our pharmaceutical and psychiatric industries say that obsessing on our health is a mental illness! Being aware of and particular about our health is common sense!

  • once we cannot say "meat" anymore, but instead need to refer to "the organic hormone-free meat which you can find in the back of the store", then we live in an insane world. That said, I find this new disease highly recommendable.

  • I hope you never have to deal with an obsession that controls your life, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I find your comments to be woefully ignorant, rife with misinformation, dismissive and just shy of malpractice.

  • This is a gross mischaracterization of what orthorexia describes. Any fixation that causes anxiety and leads to extreme disruption of a person's life is pathological. Even if that fixation is on something healthy.

They aren't talking about normal people being concerned to a normal degree about how healthy their food is, and by suggesting that this is the case the speaker is engaging in exactly the kind of propaganda that he accuses others of spreading.

  • I am very conscious of what I eat. I read the labels. I try my best to sty away from HFCS, aspartme, and the rest.

  • Thank you Joseph for another excellent video. I find it quite illuminating that some people in psychiatry think that taking responsibility for your own health and choosing healthy food is a mental illness !

  • Is a preoccupation to eating an unhealthy diet a a mental illness? I think not, because its considered normal and accepted as such. Will working out, eating organic, natural supplements be next, if so every Olympic athletic is very sick.

  • So we are all mentally ill after all. Let's get healthy by going to McDonalds! :) Geeezzz!

  • Ortherexia is not a "new" disorder! sorry to blow your mind...

Please lay off the conspiracy theories and twinkies.

And no, you do not have ortherexia. LOL, are you serious?

People with eating disorders are not insane!

When you give your "talk" on mental disorders, that kind of talk won't go over well.

  • In regards to obsessions, how many times did he say "high fructose corn syrup"? :)

  • Comment removed

  • They should change the name of "Health Food" to "Real Food"

  • there's a difference in "not wanting the shit it in your food" and going insane because there is sweeteners in the food! that's why orthorexia is a mental disorder, not because you are aware of what the food contains.

  • Are you poisoned?

    By TipToeChick

    watch?v=b8LISYCIjlQ

  • Who invented this mental illness, Frito-Lay ?

  • I guess this new "mental disorder" is one of the things they use to promote the crazy "Codex Alementeria" the psych - pharma industry want to force upon us in order to keep us unhealthy and depressed so that we take their destructive "medicines".

  • good vid bro. woke up to all this 6 months ago when my daughter was born.

My life and health are changing for the better.

no vaccines, no smoking, no fluoride,no processed food and plenty exercise.

new world order go fuck yourselv'es.

  • the more people sick the more they make. Why would the big heads scientist and ceos at the top want us to get healthy when they will lose buyers

  • Reminds me of the time when I accidentally dropped a organic blue chip and a popcorn (microwaved) on the floor.

Interestingly, the ants went for the organic blue chip. I saw absolutely nothing on the popcorn.

Seems like animals have better taste in food than we humans do.

  • At the same time, if mice get to a chocolate covered granola bar they will eat all the chocolate first.

  • No, HFCS doesn't have mercury in it.

  • That's not new, you just recently found out about it. You may as well say OCD is a psychiatrist plot to keep people from washing their hands.

  • Orthorexia? WTF?

Satan lives, and he's got his puppets dancing...

  • I'm vegan, and when this article came out, I kept getting the "orthorexia" label thrown at me. I try my best to eat healthy, but don't consider myself obsessive at all. We only have one body, after all, and we might as well take care of it the best we can. just my 2 cents worth...

  • Taking care of it is cool. It's not considered an obsession until it becomes an impediment to your health (believe it or not, people die of it). People with this disorder will avoid healthy foods because of the fear of "toxins" within them. Take people who won't eat fruit because of carbs, people who undergo protein starvation because they can't eat anything with fat in it etc.

  • People don't have much time for exercise with their work hours, even when they get home from work they are so tired and burnt out all they want to do is plop in front of the tv.

  • I can quickly name off some other reasons people are overweight to obese in addition to nutrition and that is movement, breath and sleep...people dont move naturally or organically throughout the day, they keep themselves very static and hold themselves in one posture so that many muscles atrophy, also people hold their breath and breath shallowly...but just getting an hour yoga class or exercise session a day is not enough, you need to keep your self up at a certain level throughout the day

  • You used to go to see girls in bikini and now girls are HUGH!! What a sad story! Please try to use better examples to explain your point; nobody's interested in your sexual life. Advise people to eat healthier food to stay away from diseases not so that you enjoy seeing them in bikini again.

  • I hate when peple that are preaching about nutrition are overfat thmselves. I mean if you cannot live it, then how can you teach it... That coat is not fooling anyone!

  • I wish I could favorite a comment!

  • jesus christ i hate the government

  • Joseph Strickland...!

Sandcho is s slang term for Lover.

    It's not a name!

    (lol)

When a male uses the word Sancho, it means: My Wife's Lover.

Bon Jovi was in a movie called Los Muertos

It was a Vampires movie by John Carpenter.

  • Good info.

  • Dear mr. Nutritionist, you have to lose 15-20 pounds yourself.

  • easy

  • That doesn't mean he is not healthy... not everyone has the genes to look the "ideal" size. Size doesn't equate to being healthy... A person can look 20 pounds less heavy than he, and still be a lot less nutritionally qualified. He doesn't "have to" lose weight, unless he wants to live up to the North American ideal of people looking real thin.

  • The North American average is actually overweight. For a NA person to say he needs to lose weight means he's overweight even by those standards. The guy does not appear healthy.

  • North America has a lot of obese people, which makes the average overweight. Yet one cannot make an average of overweight, it depends of genes, race and location of where one lives... Inuits are way larger than this man but they are very healthy people. If an inuit moved to New York, people would call them overweight but they are not. Based on the size of someones bones, they should be a certain weight. his bones do not seem small. he is his own ideal size. everyone has an ideal size...

  • .... for you to look at a person and say they are unhealthy is asinine. To lose weight, one should not, contrary to what you say, look at the averages. They need to go to a nutritionist, have the body examined, blood taken preferably, bone size and fat percentage examined. it's a science. not a quantitative judgement on averages. This man is fine, look at his website. if he lost more weight, he would be unhealthy. people are unhealthy by what they eat, not always how they look.

  • right on :)

  • I didn't say she should be average (as you pointed out, average people are unhealthily overweight). Neither you nor I have any inkling of what his eating choices are, so all we have to go by is what he looks like and his demonstrated ignorance of psychology.

  • Actually, we do have more to look at. As i wrote in my last post, he has a website. He is a certified nutritionist and he explains his story of his old lifestyle and eating habits. Just have a look that's a little more than superficial. As for his ignorance on psychology, most of that field has spent more time with nomenclature and jargon in the past 20 years than actual psychological research. That's one reason the easy answer to most disorders now are meds a la Effexor and Ritalin.

  • No, that's because family doctors now feel comfortable writing prescriptions for psychological disorders, resulting in a vast number of misdiagnoses.

Knowing about nutrition does not make you healthy, anymore than knowing about physical conditioning makes you fit.

  • Had a look at his website and you were sorta right, he's much healthier than he used to be! I wouldn't call the work done though.

  • I'm sorry, i don't want to be rude, but i don't understand how you judge on that criteria.. i don't think you understood anything i wrote.. Health can't be judged by pictures or videos. is it because he has a fat face? Minnie Driver the actress has a fat face, i wouldn't call her unhealthy. but then again i wouldn't call her healthy either because she could eat the worst things and still "look" healthy by you criteria. You simply cannot tell by pictures, but chances are he is a healthy guy

  • You may have a point. He might be healthy while looking unhealthy.

  • I'm sorry, I'm European and here this man would be considered overweight. I apologize for my spontaneous and maybe offensive comment, but it's kind of strange to listen advices about healthy eating from a person with obvious weight issues. I haven't seen his site/lifestyle history.

  • No you haven't, nor do you know his true BMI, or Body Mass Index. Understanding the science behind BMI, you have to know a person's bone density, which is pretty much established at birth, and accounts for how a person looks. In our society and world, we only think thin is healthy. That's a dumb assumption, whether you are European or not (not to imply that you are dumb). Two examples to prove my point.. Myself am 5 foot 11 inches and weigh 145 pounds. That is thin. i'm 30 years old...

  • ... and when i was 21, i was still the same weight.. Everyone thought i watched my weight and ate well.. this was false, i was severely unhealthy, i even ate Mcdonalds once a day for about 40 days.. i felt ill. i was not healthy.. Just because i was thin, would you take advice from me? i would hope not. Now Inuit or Eskimo peoples, are even larger than this man, but are in great health, but they have large bodies to protect from cold.. it's genetic. Just looking at size is a poor indicator..

  • ...Now that i have paid more attention to my health, and health in general, i realize that size is the factor when determining health. True we all want to look a certain way, but that doesn't mean how we want to look equals good health. Regardless of how this man looks, listen to what he says, and juxtapose the info with your own research and you will see he is not talking bullshit. The coach of a baseball team may not be able to hit homeruns, but he can teach you how. Same in this guys case.

  • it's the satanic illuminati order!!! the eye is watching!!! alan parsons was right!!!

  • you fuckingrule !

  • There is a mental illness for everything

  • I'd rather have orthorexia than diabeties, high cholesterol, asthma, allergies, etc....this word has gone insane! Use your common sense people!!

  • would you rather have those issues or extreme malnutrition, obsessive compulsive tendencies, and the inability to live a seemingly normal life? all of which come hand in hand with orthorexia

  • awesome.. I heard that. But great way to put it out there. I sprout, eat a lot of raw, avoid the microwave & corn syrup.. I must be mentally ill.. time for the straight jacket, some enriched bleached white flour and Prozac.

  • Great video!! Eating healthy is crucial for proper functioning of the body. Moreover it does not mean you have to go to special expensive organic shelf in a store. Its enough to read the labels of the products to see what they are made of (if there are any chemical adds) and buy products on farmers market (especially vegetables, fruits, fish and meat).

  • Who controls the field.. askenazi? who do askenazi plot to destory.. western civilization.

  • If wanting to be healthy is crazy...

I don't want to be sane!

  • Educate yourself on obsessive behaviour, read some psychology and learn of the multiple negative implications it has for the lives of the obsessed.

Eating organic and proper non industrialized foods sure is the healthiest way, anyone who says differently is foolish.

Please remain sceptical of Alex Jones, his info is full of assumptions, undocumented claims, conclusions and he has an ability to see sinister coverups coming from all directions. I am not denying corruption, its very real.

  • Joseph, Kudos for this excellent video! As a former Board-Certified Psychiatrist, I can attest that you are correct, in that ~90% of Psychiatry is damn-near complete bullshit! It is the whore of the Drug companies these days. Recall that psychiatrists "vote" on what is "officially" a "disorder." These are societally-based--homosexuality was a "mental illness" until not that long ago. It is a pseudoscience at best, for the most part NOT backed-up by anatomical or physiological mechanisms.

  • 5 stars and faved.

(Satire) Obviously suffering from Pharma Phobia and maybe Anti Toxic Crap Disorder(ATCD)? Very selfish, what about those poor shareholders and those giant pharmacutical companies down to their last billions. Still at least governments still care enough to pump billions in to buy vaccines for all whether we want them or not! Oh, then there are those suffering from Anti-Vaccine Dissorder, obviously a lack of mercury in their diets, a bit of force and a needle, sorted?

  • Thank you so much!!!

  • I'd rather have Orthorexia than be fat.

  • I read about Orthorexia before this video, and from what i gathered it is more the obsession with eating health foods, like lying about having an allergy just to not eat something that is offered at lets say a friends dinner party.

  • mentalelley, its up to every individual to do as they please until it affects another individual.

  • Finding an excuse not to eat sounds more like a symptom of Anorexia.

  • No it only pretense to certain foods, the individual will still eat items they believe are 'healthy'.

  • Still, saying being a "health nut" is a mental disorder is just asinine.

  • 5 stars, thanks! I put this video on my 2012 forum :)

  • it's good to know you are being honest in saying that there no longer remains any doubt with your mind that the 'health' industry is definitely focusing on increasing profits by creating new disease types to suit the one in need. great stuff, it's getting more and more difficult in this day and age to differentiate what is genuine and not.

  • I like this!

  • I do not drink carbinated beverages but I do drink lots and lots and lots of coffee. Anything wrong with coffee?

  • It's us against the druggies...errrr...the drug sellers..... errrr...the drug companies who are making money selling the drugs..... errr.... the drug stores....selling under the stamp of health...

  • Veganism is an extreme mental illness that can result in sociopathic behavior.

  • Good work. Certain people have struggled with food and dieting all their lives. The ongoing struggle to maintain health through selecting healthier food could lead to certain anxiety disorders because it truly becomes an obession. It is sad though that drug companies do have that intention of making more money through other people's suffereing, but its important to consider that certain people actually do have an obsession with eating healthy which leads to anxiety disorders

  • kashawnm, its very hard to eat truely healthy in todays world. I would say the anxiety much more often than not comes from the world we live in, not the food or the person. Its genius to because pharmaceutical industry has us cornered, no matter what we do, they are very likely to profit from us.

  • The Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex is full of shit! Try to grow your own food and stop drinking soda. Drink water, its good for you!

  • Be careful with water, tap water is bad enough, but certain resaurants seem to add flouride or something to their water. Flouride is linked to all kinds of diseases.

  • How clever! "What you buy has direct efect on what is sold" :-D

  • GO RAW!! BUCK THE SYSTEM GROW YOUR OWN FOODS!

yep i think i would qualify as orthorexic :)

IF ITS CRAP I WONT EAT IT

  • Where did you get the information regarding coca cola and their change of formula? I'd be interesting to read that source.

  • Psychiatry is not science, it is opinion. It is the scourge of mankind. Needs to be eliminated as a "medical science". It is part of the massive disinformation campaign being forced upon the world's population. Psychiatrists have as much credibility as a three dollar bill!

  • "THEY", will try to find a problem with everything. We as individuals have a right to do what we want and so many people in todays society need to learn to stay out of other peoples business.

  • people do actually get mentally ill. You cannot pretend everything is fine like that, a lot of people actually lie about their mental health, in both directions. Psychiatrists tend to only diagnose people who they encounter, its not like they do random sanity checks. Their clients come to them, usually on their own accord and seek intervention. I don't know how authoritatian your mental health service is but our country tends to put patients rights pretty high up there. suicide is real!

  • Yes LostMente, people do actually get mentally ill AND ALSO commit suicide, you must be very intelligent for realizing that. What this is about is the attempt to classify people trying to implement change to make themselves and others healthier as insane. While I'm sure its possible to fall into this small, real group of people with "Orthorexia", most people that will be accused of this are sane, simple.

  • who are "THEY?" Trying to make an invisible enemy without a name or face is crazy. site resources. By putting this comment here, you're obviously sticking your nose into other people's business. It's just when you disagree with them, you think they should shut up, and if they agree they can talk as much as they want.

  • secretlyhidden, "they" are the ones in power. Many of them you don't hear about, but they control much of the worlds money.

I just hope people are smart enough and reasonable enough to see through all the nonsense in this world. I'm not trying to start an arguement with anybody. People have a right to live how ever they choose and other people need not be so intrusive, simple.

  • good info, but please stop calling it "new". orthorexia's been around for a while

  • omg scratch that....you have NO idea what you're talking about! orthorexia's a bloody EATING DISORDER! it's not some corporate conspiracy, it kills people! get your facts straight next time good heavens

(and honey i know you were joking, but trust me your'e not orthorexic. you're kind of chubby.)

  • The most prestigious newspapers in USA were bought and editors installed by the owners of the brand spanking new Federal Reserve (Central) Bank just shortly after it's devious inception in 1913. What makes you think they don't still own and direct the mainstream media of 2009? The Rothschild's are the evil power behind the Federal Reserve Bank and indirectly this ridiculous John Stossel segment.

  • why do you live in their world then? its as if you want to bite the hand that feeds you. Your reality is a result of the financial institutions power plays that have seen the west sky rocket as super economies. People were going to breed regardless of the money expansion, and people would be greedy no matter who was incharge. Human condition is not a godly condition

  • I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Did you miss your dosage of lithium or something?

  • Pointing the finger at people who say the boogie man is to blame for their misery. It's actually themselves who are responsible..any selfishness you see by corporations is the same selfishness you see within communities.

  • I think both sides are to blame. On one hand you have what seems to be the excessive greed of the wealthy, but look what most people do with extra money/ power, they use it foolishly.

  • you tell the truth here...thanks

  • I don't think orthorexics just worry about having pure food, it's not about the food really in orthorexics.

    It's about control.

I like my food as natural as possible, but I"m not orthorexic.

People who are orthorexic that I know are using the "healthy pure eating" as a guise to control other emotional issues in their life. That's what it's about.

There are people who take on the healthy eating thing who are probably anorexic and do have eating disorders- I know them....

  • See I often believe that a healthy diet, a safe, clean and natural diet is about exerting control...control is something that empowers oneself. And through empowerment we do feel better. Unfortunately some people will continue to feel unwell and continue to restrict their diet where the diet wasn't the problem. So to repeat the same action and expect different results, well thats a thought disorder

  • It really depends what you're really trying to control.

Most people aren't really wanting to control food at all, but it's the only thing they can control and they do it to an unhealthy point.

  • Propaganda and selfish motives within commerce are completely different issues than what is really at hand here, and I don't think you should make such a strong stance on something based only off of these sources.

  • Thank you for your thorough and clear commentary. I am shocked at how many people fail to understand the difference between a healthy outlook and an unhealthy obsession. I hope reading your observations will make that point clearer for some others.

  • only encourages the behavior of those suffering from this. Furthermore, using one article from a known controversial news reporter is not at all good enough evidence to support your case in saying that orthorexia cannot be true. You could be right that he was continually encouraging his false views about organic food, and that pharmaceutical companies just want more money and are trying to use this as a facet to have all of America on drugs.

  • And of course you think this is ridiculous because your whole life is probably based on healthful eating - but it's your job so I would hope it would be! However, the vast majority of the population are NOT nutritionists so this obsession is certainly not normal. Basically my point is, yes keep doing what you're doing and encouraging healthy eating behaviors for obese America, but I don't think it's right of you to say that orthorexia is completely ludicrous and this attitude

  • obsession with avoiding specific foods, which can arguably be a good thing on the surface. HOWEVER, I feel there is a fine line between being health conscious and having an eating disorder. When eating health food and feeling pure becomes an obsession and essentially causes stress in other aspects of their life (like every mental illness does) I feel it would be considered an eating disorder.

  • I think you're misunderstanding what orthorexia really is, which is understandable as I'm sure the article you keep referencing doesn't quite explain it well. Yes, I agree that high fructose corn syrup is bad and should be avoided, so many people know this. I also agree that obesity in America is a huge problem and needs to be addressed. First of all, I'm pretty sure orthorexia has not been confirmed as a legitimate mental illness, but I think it is possible. Orthorexics have a complete

  • you kick ass. i get this all the time at work. you start talking about Nitrates in meat, hormones in milk, MSG and how it makes you eat more... people look at you like youre nuts. "its just food, youre just paranoid". this mental diagnosis thing will work real well on these retarded people.

  • EATING DISORDERS ARE THE WORST MENTAL ILLNESS opposed to meth, coke, drugs, etc u can easily avoid drugs for good but with eating, no.

  • Eventually, nutritionists will be on the list of suspected domestic terrorists.

    Why?

Corn is the number one government subsidized item. Corn, corn products or corn by-products are in almost ALL of the processed food we eat. Corn is fed to our beef cattle, dairy cattle, chickens (egg laying and food), pigs, goats, sheep etc., etc. In fact, I suspect a lot of produce is fertilized with corn and corn products.

  • Pharmorexia is an obsession with drugs, synthetic rubbish, and harmful chemicals :D

  • I like the mexican coke better

  • ah you said it right after i typed it :)

  • For example, Salmon from Aquaculture tastes good and normally Fish is good for you (Omega-3 fatty acid, phosphorous etc.) but its full of antibiotics. Because in this unnatural confinment they would bite each other and thus get infectuous wounds, hence the antibiotics. This aquaculture-salmon once gave me a poisoning and i was ill for 2 days, which would not have happened with wild Salmon from the sea.

Now can you imagine all the hormones and things they give cows, pigs and sheep?

  • Mr. Strickland is right. "Orthorexia" is not the only ludicrous creation of Pharma Industries. Any human with a trace of common sense would know, that its not "unhealthy" to set store by healthy food, it would be a contridiction in itself. Anybody with a sound mind would rather think its crazy that so many people do not seem to worry about all the chemically-modified trash they eat.

  • Apparently it consists of avoiding all unhealthy food to such an extreme you become malnourished?

    ...

How the fuck does that happen? "rawfoodism" so eating raw foods such as fruit and veggies will make you malnourished?

I guess the raw paleo diet they are all orthorexic. Mel Gibson is part of that crowd, he didn't look a damn thing like the Olsons, Calista Flockhart or Hillary Duff.

  • I just discussed this with me collegues at the nutrition-center and we find they should also label other ailments:

    - being sporty

    - healthy sexlife

    - good sleep

    - loving your family

These mental illnesses can be treated with Prozac as the sideeffects won't let you sleep, causes impotence, weaks you & numbs your emotions.

    But you're cured!!

We find it funny how they come up with these jokes.Bird- and swineflu didn't work and everybody laughs! At least those who can because they're Prozac-FREE!

  • I don't see why the practice of good health can become some sort of "mental illness", and I do agree with what you're saying about the drug admin upselling meds (narcotics) by linking them up with supposed illnesses. I personally have read a few books written by Kevin Trudeau, and I do appreciate his candor and his cause to spread the truth. Thank you for posting this and in an unbiased manner.

  • Great Video... Very well explained and your 100% correct...
