  • this guy sucks. he's playing the bass in its correct position. FAG

    -_-

  • Burn notice?

  • James Franco rippin it up!

  • Just a little underdefined attack for me on the notes. I'm sure hes hitting everything spot on but I prefer to have a little more bite/attack :D

  • I can't believe people are bashing this guy cause of how high up his bass is...hes obviously very skilled and you need to shut the fuck up about it.

  • i had a basplayer once who was forced to play high due do the amount of body fat.

  • Fair play to you man. Playing some slap and with your fingers. That's one thing I love to listen to in metal is a bassist who can play like that.

  • It's much easier to play the guitar the higher it is.

  • is that a picture of nat king cole in the background?

  • I fucking love this bass line holy SHIT

  • Like a boss Dude ! ;)

    Waiting for your album.

  • Louis Armstrong in the background, jammin out, metal as fuck!

  • @Mrpoophotdog ZAT YOUUU!?! SANTAAA CLAUSS!?!?!?

  • Lovin the Warwick!

  • Did anyone else notice the bass sweep at 1:15?

  • @WHTMBassist fuck yes :) but the tone in this video is pretty inaudible :(

  • @Rockyroopam tone is amazing get some good headphones

  • @BlackflamezzProduct I have amazing speakers, I'm not saying it doesn't sound fucking great. But you honestly can't hear the note separation in the sweep

  • @Rockyroopam sorry not trying to criticize hear but i can hear it perfectly

  • @WHTMBassist He's not sweeping, he's just playing the harmonics, just like the guitarist does on the other video

  • @Plague413 Its still the sweeping technique, it doesn't have to be arpeggiated.

  • @Rockyroopam that was my point exactly, should had worded it better

  • is this really that great?

  • @kmoj12345 ..Are you fucking kidding

  • I think these guys are original compared to a lot of bands. What is it with these bizarre terms being thrown around like 'tech fag'?. He has great technique and is musical with his playing. I think that makes him a good musician.

  • dude he got hellboy's fists.

  • bit strange that all these keyboard warriors are debating the strap height when what really matters is that this dude is a filthy groove monster, laying waste to empires with massive tone and epic lines.

  • all of these guys are talented to fuck.

  • i love this guy. slap, sweeps, and chords all in one song. if he's this good and diverse in every song i might just have to buy their albums instead of pirating :P

  • Now thats what you call a SICK BASSIST! ;D

  • Song? >:D

  • freaking sick! :D

  • damn good. extremely tight performance. nice to hear a bass player that can really stay in the pocket in tech death band.

  • Happy black man in the background :D

  • hey geico, yeah fuck you

  • well done, ollie! keep up the great work!

  • That was sexy.

  • i like these guys right off the bat!!!!!

  • Pretty good bassist!

  • IS THERE ANYWHERE I CAN GET THIS VERSION?

  • @KalakalProduction or maybe a six string bass. Derp!

  • damnit im learning this song

  • one more string ang voala! you have a guitar

  • @KalakalProduction nah ya got a six string bass :P

  • @Aprch it's drop C

  • What's the tuning for this? Drop A? G?

  • this is great, but not the best fucking thing in the world guys -_-

  • WOW

  • ohmyfucking gawd i play bass and this is so frekin amazing! Mad skills broi wish i could play like this

  • Fuck yeah

  • I love how the bass is part of the song ang augments, rather than just following the guitar. It does it's own thing.

  • @itscoolbro2 Exactly! That was probably one of the few things I noticed first listening to this.

  • There will be a cover video of this soon.

  • Very low bass sound.

  • He looks constipated.. though i don't think i'd be able to shit either if i played bass that good. XD

  • thats a nice warwick

  • How did you record this cover man?

  • @websterx9 its not really a cover, hes the bass player for the Haarp machine

  • @MrConassassin oh ok sorry :D but how?

  • @websterx9 it's not a cover... it's the actual bass player

  • @Robster881 oh yeah sorry I didn't know this :) ^^

  • And what's the name of this dude?

  • Wait what is the name of that song?

  • @BassAsLeaders The Escapist Notion

  • lol he kinda looks like finn from glee

  • fuck geico.

  • Totally Blew my mind, I love it, and I finally found a new song to learn

  • Is his bass in drop C with a low G?

  • he made the entire rhythm basically that's hella sick

  • 1:54 = fuck yes

  • I love this band and I love their name:)

I can't wait to hear more of these guys

  • Pretty fucking awesome for a 14 year old!

  • Tech Metal bassist should keep there bass as high as possible! Makes it look more tech imo haha

  • @Jordy666sic Well, yes, it does look cooler than a dude with it down wicked low... also looks more professional and in general makes it easier to play (especially for the left hand) and allows for better posture.

As a rule of thumb I always take a guitarist/bassist more seriously with their instrument up high.

  • @Steve128967 I think its so stupid looking when people play with their instruments at their ankles and like crab walking around. And I agree, I take guitarist/bassist more seriously when they are mature enough to realize that they don't need to have their instrument touching the ground to look cool.

  • @Steve128967 Yea, agreed. I also find it a lot easier to strum fast (triplets, etc) with my bass higher than if it's near my crotch :P

  • @Steve128967 I disagree. When it comes to metal musicians, the height position of a stringed instrument usually defines how much of a tech fag he or she is. Of course, that's not always the case, but I speak mainly based on past experiences.

  • @papegojaz hey at least tech fags usually sound good.

  • @Iliketacos091 They sure do, but they don't sound human. Don't get me wrong, I have respect for their skills and the amount of time they (probably) spent practicing. But when it stops sounding human and starts sounding like a sequencer is when I lose interest.

  • @papegojaz yeah, I agree with you there. Personally I'm somewhere between the two extremes: tech fag and really shitty, don't care what I'm playing as long as its in drop F. I usually have my bass so that the pickups are around waist level, so about 6 inches further down than the guy in the vid has his, and I keep the angle anywhere from 1 to 2 depending on where on the neck I'm playing. Sometimes when I feel like jumping around though, I put the strap way down and rock XD

  • @Steve128967 its never easier to play with the guitar wicked low...

  • @Steve128967 Dude, I think you are one of the few that understand the purpose of playing high up like this. I personally ca not play if my instrument is low, I feel like it limits me, so I play this high as well, and every time I play a show and all the bands have their bassist playing super low, I automatically lose interest because I expect nothing great from the bassist, and I am usually right, and at the end they always ask me how I play the way I do, and I tell them its because I play high

  • @WHTMBassist I think you will like this Video^^

    watch?v=rrwWBFp91U0

  • @lucjicare sorry couldn't watch the entire video, his technique was horrible and that kept distracting me from enjoying the video/song/playing.

  • @WHTMBassist my freaking bandmate want me to play low just to suit the image, so fucking irritating.

  • @willbassyeahsgindo bro image is important in the sense that you don't want to play a show and look like you are there to play a show, but image means shit on stage if you can't play your instrument.

  • @WHTMBassist i know but i am trying to say like you know why the guitarist even care about where i put my bass, i mainly use finger but constantly practicing using pick. Recently been getting some pain on my wrist, i am scared that its carpal tunnel @.@

  • @willbassyeahsgindo It actually might be not carpal tunnel, but the switching the back and forth between fingers and pick might be the reason, you are using different techniques which are causing a strain on your wrist. It might be that, or you are using incorrect technique with both?

  • @WHTMBassist lol i dont know, ask my teacher about my condition, she give me some practice habit, but still the tingling feeling when playing chords at the bridge pickup, or lying my arm on the bass body feel like its straining my wrist haha

  • @willbassyeahsgindo Post a video of yourself playing and I'll let you know what you can do to help that issue. If it's a technique problem I can point it out, if not, I suggest going to a doctor or not playing for a few weeks

  • @Steve128967 Thank God there is someone on Youtube with common sense. Every comment I've seen up until now regarding playing with the instrument up high has been "he looks stupid with the guitar so high." I truly tip my hat to you.

  • cant fucking hear this in the mastered version, wtf

  • warwick for life. damn right!

  • this is kinda like Xerath

  • badass!!

  • i hate seeing guitar/bass way too high...

  • @rennoiz Well, whatever's comfortable to them.

  • @rennoiz I dont get why

  • @rennoiz Yeah it doesn't look as cool, but I have to either be sitting down or have my but up really high to play the more difficult shit, and so it makes sense that he plays with his bass extremely high lol

  • Dude i need to start practicing way harder!

  • playing bass with no mediator WIN

  • I nipple ride to!

  • Hum, why isn't there one with the vocalist ?

  • 1:53 So awesome the way everything sticks together.

  • I see louis armstrong +1

  • Here's a lineup idea:

    The Faceless

    The HAARP Machine

    The Contortionist

    .....Nuff fuckin said.

  • @DESTRUCToSELF Excuse while I clean up the mess I just made from thinking about that show.

  • I'm not a bass player but I thought it was pretty crazy that he walked the entire breakdown instead of watering it down like most shitty metalcore bands do

  • @freakinsweet830 Isn't metalcore but whatever

  • @tforkirbiie Oh, my bad, should've worded it clearer, I wasn't saying they were metalcore, I'm saying most metalcore bands that do breakdowns (about all of them) have bassists that don't even do anything creative, especially in the breakdown sections

  • @freakinsweet830 I kinda no what you mean. (:

  • he could have not even plugged the bass in and it still would have looked awesome

  • Has anyone else noticed that they all scratch their face at the piano part at the end? haha, just a stupid observation.

  • bass at the end is so sick

  • is that your grandfather's portrait behind you? anyone that good has to at least part black

  • you really should up this on the mix, having audible bass adds another dimension to music that makes it even more interesting, and when its as good as this, it would be a crime to have this ignored

  • slappin da bääzzz

  • very well done :)

  • this song is pne of the bests songs of the year!!!!!!!

  • Nice work dude!

  • Anyone else get reminded of Mudvayne?

  • @ExistUNDRGROUND Ryan is one of my favorite bassists. Actually the quick jumps over the neck were the moves that reminded me of him when watching this, and the unconventional use of slapping

  • Wow recording must be a breeze with this band.

  • Warwick's ftw.

  • @Starvingpuppies Its Louis Armstong.derp

  • the technical ability that all these guys have... THIS is what music is!

  • wow, the bass performance sounds good. I LIKE! <3

  • the faap machine

  • @SeanStephensen i totaly agree on that... this shit is so fucking amazing

  • Have never seen a more British looking person...

  • @PotaboChips haha so true.

  • By the way this guy looks like dracula and he has a picture of bill cosby behind him

  • @Starvingpuppies Louis Armstrong, dude.

  • @Starvingpuppies DUURRRRRPPPP!!

  • ESCAPE TO NEVADA WHAT THE FUCK

  • Love the incorporation of slap bass.

  • Jill Scott is NOT the next album I'm looking forward too.

  • the next Dan Briggs

  • Man, this is awesome, But I know that warwick has a more thicker sound than that!

  • @theunseenthreat do you also know that the rendering on youtube cuts tons of the bass just in compressing?

  • .....i can not fucking wait for this fucking god damn masterpiece.

  • Where in the UK are these guys from? I wanna meet them.

  • @sbishopMTL reading, check out their facebook page

  • Hoooooollyyyy fuuuuuuuuuck

  • friggin amazing . i love how the bass does it's own melodies without following too much the guitar, i'm so looking forward the complete album

  • this is insane!

  • Bass needs to be more prominent in the actual mix :( Because this is awesome.

  • @housty00 Bass needs to be more prominent in almost every metal band out there nowadays. Well - as long as it's not the bottom note of the rhythm guitar, i.e. Asking Alexandria, ADTR, to name a few lazy bands.

  • @JayseWeaver agreed, there are thousand of bands out there where the bass is just "there" - i love bands like the faceless or all shall perish where the bass actually is used as a instrument rather than just "big noise for breakdowns"

  • @housty00 it needs to be more like the bass on both of the faceless's albums. can't wait to see them with evan brewer

  • @housty00 Hopefully that have an instrumental on the record sos this can happen

  • @housty00 This is true in 90 percent of metal.

  • @housty00 I thought it sat perfectly in the mix myself :S but totally agreed this is awesome.

  • @housty00 hes playing on the fifth string, you could probably hear it if you got some sub woofs yo

  • first to experience this.. AMAZING.
