  • None would say Federer's serve is "flawed". Actually no one would say most of the world's top players have a "flawed" serve either. I'd even go so far and say Federer has a very good serve in that it's accurate and consistent.

    But in terms of "service motion"(bio mechanics), as you say, let's not get ahead of ourselves by putting Federer's serve on a pedestal calling it the same level of Sampras's.

    Federer's serve is effective, but in terms of "motion", it's definitely not Sampras level.

  • i disagree. I think that their service motions are similar, but Federer's just comes across to be more flowing and easy.

  • I disagree. Sampras uses much more trunk rotation and pronation and has a greater range of motion. I'm not saying just more than Rog, I mean more than any other serve.

    I would concede that Rog's service motion is "easy" in the sense it is easier to copy than Pete's.

    But as far as fluidity in motion, efficiency in power generation, maximizing leverage through seamless biomechanics, there's no comparison. Pete's service motion is the best, smoothest, flowing, efficient in power, you name it.
