  • Rod R. Great song. This is in my three greatest Aussie songs of all time

  • i just love this song

  • I always associate this classic song with an RAAF recruitung ad, with an F111C flying over 8/8 cloud. Still in the Air Force now, so I guess Russell Morris was a 'life-changer' for me.

loved him when this song was tops in his hey day, I was 9.

love him even more now. he sing even better today than in the 70's

  • There was a time when things were simpler in Aus...this song is a wonderful expression of that. I remember this song as a kid, and i loved it so much. NOW, all we have is fear, anxiety and greed - good thing we all have good friends and great music to listen to huh? - thanks for posting it mate!

  • This is such a beautiful song!!! There´s no words for its beauty! I can´t understand why people don´t listen a music like this and they prefer... well, you know, what they prefer.. But I don´t want to write the names of the popular "singers" and "artists" under this amazing song... :-)

  • Haven't heard this for probably 35 years. Still sounds good.

  • You did a better job than if it was film clip tober, you cant beat the Aussie landscape , and Aussie artists Cheers.

  • Has there been a sweeter song ever recorded than this? Someone tell me I'm wrong.

  • One of the pioneers of Australian music - still as good today as he was then. I'm impressed!

  • I lived for 5 years in Broken Hill and the landscapes in this clip remind me of my time there. It is an amazing landscape and those plains remind me so much of Mundi Mundi plains outside Silverton. Beautiful! Great song too.

  • saw russ and brian cadd in perth last year.didnt realise how many songs i knew. they blew me away.

  • I love this song, and The Dish!

  • Seeing Russell and Brian Cadd tonight cant wait

  • absolutely off the beaten track, just seeing those emus reminded me of a funny story my 14 yr old daughter told me, here in NM,USA. A friend of hers received five baby emus for her birthday..., she was not amused. I was, though.

  • The photos are very australian, keep up the good work .

  • Simply beautiful song. Am I the only person, who thinks James Blunt has similar voice to Russell's in that song?

  • love the song and love Russ' voice, love the song rachels coming home too,Russ' voice has that haunting quality to it, I was sooo in love with him when i was young and boy was he spunky!! I'm a kiwi by the way.

  • Definitely the greatest song from Russell Morris. What a perfect finale to the soundtrack of 'The Dish'.

Another of my favorites, my second all-time favorite, is 'Flower Garden' by Nick Lampe.

Although little known and obscure, it was a fantastic 1970 song. It didn't achieve much success elsewhere, but in Melbourne, it was a moderate hit.

There is a youtube video of him singing it, from a 1971 TV appearance. Don't miss it.

  • Having watched the dish on dvd and enjoyed the movie and this track I am delighted to have found the same version here. Well done toberwomble for this posting. Cheers

  • nice song

  • My favorite song. Being Australian, probably makes me bias.

  • Ah, Australian. That would explain how it got on to the soundtrack for, "The Dish," an Aussie movie about their Parkes radio telescope they used to communicate with the Apollo astronauts.

  • my name is russell morris but i dont know a thing about this guy

  • Charted December 1972

  • We were in ozzieland too.The song sure brings memories of the time when were there. Heard Russell Morris and this song over the radio back then. Those wah wah guitar lines when they ring out, its like going back in time....thanks for posting. (we brought his cd back)

  • My family and I lived in Melbourne, when I was a kid between 1968 and 1977 before retuning to the USA. I remember this song very well as one of my favorites of all time. Thanks for posting and brining back many fond memories of Ozzieland!

  • How perfectly did this song fit at the end of the dish? On the wings of an eagle?

  • Thats where I found it as well! :) I loved that movie.

  • Great to Play It again On **AUSTRALIA DAY** 26.01.08 Another one of Oz's Greatest.

  • saw him at Caseys nightclub, Melbourne about 18 years ago and he sang as well live as on record.

  • awesome song. i sang it with him in the australian youth choir in the middle of 2006. very good!
