The warning was too true. There were lies about cake, dizziness, Losing the Game, deafness by fangirl screams, Uncontrollable glomping and asking actors to say stupid things and a big yaoi session started by my friend Celia (cosplay name). But they forgot to mention the lovely feelings of sore feet and the feeling of being dragged lovingly all over the place by stranger-friends :D
OMG! On Sunday, someone made the biggest dick move EVER. But it was funny. Here's what went down:
While waiting in line for the "7 Habits of Succesful Ninjas and How to Stop Them" for over an hour, someone walked through the middle of the line with a sign that said "THE GAME" on it and someone yelled out "I LOST THE GAME!" which was then followed by an entire foyer of people yelling about how they lost hte game. It was awesome.
$50+ per ticket and this is the production value they have for their commercials? Guess I'll just spend the money on the new Ghostbusters game and take embarrassing photos of the attendees from outside the gates.
None of our official youtube commercials were created by staff or the convention itself. It was a contest held, and this is one of the video submitted. Not all of our attendees have access to high quality equipment.
As a community based convention however, we do wish to support our attendees and their creative talents and efforts.

Meh. $50+ is still far to high for what is in essence a big flea market for overpriced imports and stuff that can simply be downloaded for free.
Do attendees even get something tangible for their $50-$60?
Lunch perhaps? I don't get the appeal of having Q & A sessions with a voice actor or translator. Maybe next year this convention should be held in a facility that doesn't charge $1000 per hour for wireless internet use, then pass the savings on to the people you put the show on for.
I hear ya.... I just wanted to see the vendors and I can't justify spending $110 dollars for my wife and me to walk around and look at the vendors. On top of all that the place was horribly disorganized. We wandered the upper floors going in and out of rooms, with no pass, Until we discovered that the place you buy the pass is in the basement. And that was where the vendors were.... They had people checking to see if you had a pass at the entrance and exit. I know because we wanted to sneak in..
I do agree with you guys on the price. It has escalated quite a bit in the last 5 years. Back when we were at SFU, it was $45 dollars for the whole weekend, which was a good price considering the whole place was open 24 hours. but now it's $55 bucks for one day and it's only open until 12 am. Kinda shows you the difference between a university and a convention center. But I kinda like all the other stuff just a bit more than the vendors. the vendors are awesome, but I like meeting voice actors.
Also, for an anime fan like myself it's fun to meet others who share the same interests and a good opportunity to hang out with my friends, which we don't get to do much of. The events can be a little crazy, but that's what makes them fun. But as far as the organization goes, it was far better than AE 2008 at UBC. That was......................Horrible.
Ugh, I had that, too. Then I got it 2 day sbefore and it was too small, so I'm walking around with a blonde wig that's many sizes too small, having my hair pulled out at the roots by 8 bobby pins, and what's worse was we had to put it into a ponytail, shich involved more pulling. DX
I JUST LOST THE GAME.

Who might this be? And actually, it was mainly a friend who came up with the concept and the script. We were just the actors.
