daryuh is right. When I watched the first 7 eps, they were mostly funny, but then it transitioned into other thing like you said. It seems weird sometimes, and you need to be understanding of the symbolism. Im not saying it like a religious anime, but it had a lot to do with christianity as a background. This anime is really deep, so I don't intend for everyone to understand it, but it is probably the only anime to reach such a level of impact towards people.
