Because you can tell in the video they don't care about it. The mood in the room is excited, the trophy is brought in, they're like "eh yea, whatever, that's nice" and then they go back to celebrating and being excited. Rivalry trophies are lame. It's conference nonsense.

"There's a trophy?" is asked in complete seriousness by the players upon seeing the trophy brought into the locker room. And they don't care much about it at all, because it's stupid. Sorry but this is incredibly lame. There's a video clip of the ND players in the locker room being given the trophy, and they had no idea they'd even been playing for it. "There's a trophy?" And they beat MSU two years ago, so it's not like they'd just never won the game to know that. Trophies are stupid conference crap to make games that don't matter seem more important. ND players don't care about it or know about it. So why do you?

@sdeleon1987 Oh man, you've got that right. MSU has wins over Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin in consequetive weeks.

Notre Dame is 4-3 with tough games against Navy, Maryland, and Boston College coming up. At a combined 5-16, I see the Irish winning those three easily, as well as the Wake Forest game, and being 8 - 3 before the loss to Stanford. 8 - 4 is a record they can be proud of.

And they did something no ND team had done in about 15 years: beat a top 25 team.

Gary Gray single-handedly cost Notre Dame the Michigan game. He turned in the worst performance by an ND cornerback probably ever. That isn't exaggerating. He played really well last year and could play great all the rest of the year, he still will not be able to have a good year. Overall it will be a bad year because of how pathetic that game was.
