Couldn't you just tell it's age by the use of relating its looks to an era? eg, georgian, victorian, edwardian etc...

beautiful clock you have there. i have a Waterbury gingerbread clock, highly carved. I'm trying to figure out how old it is, but i can't find another one like it anywhere on the web
