  • wat is the valve between the steamchest and cylinder? you can see it around1:34.

  • Port Huron called it the "Power Valve". The Woolf Tandem Compound has 1 valve body for both high & low pressure cylinders, steam from the boiler goes UNDER the valve to the high press cyl, the exhaust steam from hi press cyl goes into the steam chest OVER the valve and then supplies the low pressure cylinder.  The Power Valve vents some high pressure steam into the chest, increasing pressure to the low press cyl. U can see it @ 3:45 in this video: "Port Huron Steam Engine No. 6637 100619c"

  • great engine i own a 1904 12hp im pretty sure 18 on the fly wheel 36 on draw bar quick question how many horse is yours thank you for your time :)
