  • So when can we see some slow motion of launch and reorientation? Also it would have been nice to have launched some monkeys, to show how they handled the g loads. I suppose there is probably already data, and they would have been really mad not knowing what was going on! (and it would have gotten all the activists in an uproar) but I bet astronauts would still have felt better about having a real example. And so if you have this, why are "man-rated" launchers needed?

  • @flatboat70452 we already know that people can handle it.

  • Definitely not canceled. We need some sort of manned space platform, and with the Shuttle retiring soon, the Orion can't get here fast enough.

  • What's with this "launch, launch, launch" crap. An escape system for the crew? What a unique idea. Like every manned launch system except the (%%#&** Space Shuttle -- may birds crap on it forever.

  • Well done. Freakin' shame we'll never need to actually fly the thing.

  • @mduncan81 orion is not cancelled

  • @joachim2464 True, Orion is not cancelled but it currently has no launch vehicle nor any plans to launch with this escape tower that we just saw tested. Current plans are an undefined use of Orion to launch unmanned just to use as a hellishly expensive lifeboat at the space station.

  • Huh, really? It just flew. I watched it.
