The point is that she is quick to jump on anyone who makes use of her work (i.e. Steve Vander Ark) but neglects the fact that she may have borrowed ideas from other authors in writing the Harry Potter books.

His work was aimed at a different age group and was more of a picture book -- at 36 pages, there really wasn't much there. There's a good reason that the courts threw this out -- there's simply not enough similarity to justify the suit if you look at the two works. My kids would never have read Willy the Wizard, but they can't get enough of Harry.

A blatant copy of an author's I can totally understand. In the case of Vander Ark it's less clear cut. i have a great vhs tape from a north carolina church outlining how harry potter is the devil's handbook. The daughter of some churchy guy skimmed the books to get the in depth behind the scenes look into the world of witchcraft. Found it in Goodwill, bought it so the propaganda wouldn't reach those effected by it.

referring to that list of books they wanted banned. The scary stories to tell in the dark books honestly fucked me up. I remember I was in grade 4 and i read them for the first time and I really was never the same. I had constant nightmares for 2 years and couldnt sleep. Do i think they book should be banned? no. First off, no. It was a JOKE, they always do these jokes at the end of the show, often using clips from show like The tonight Show. I don't agree that Harry Potter has a negative influence on children, and I am a Christian Conservative Fox News viewer. It does have mature themes that are nothing for some kids, but for some they may not fully understand. That's still no reason to ban it, but the discussion for younger kids may be appropriate.
