@pirandello85 ???HUH??? This was an ongoing conversation and I think you have missed much of what was said... I don't understand where you are coming from... and my Country is the United States actually. My mother is Czech... I was stating that a lot of the Czech's I know (including my mother) speak German as a second language... that is all... LOL (My mom is from Prague)
Okay, its Czech. Now then, can someone, anyone, please tell me what the hell the English translations are? I'd think wanting to know the meaning behind these beautiful words would be more pertinent than the language it is spoken in.
Czech language is a Slavic language. It is not German or anything like it. Honestly it is more close to Ukrainian or Polish the Russian. German/Austrian is a second language of Czech lands owing that Czech was controled by the Hungary-Austrian Empire for hundreds of years. The Bohemian lands was the seat of the Holy Roman Empire for a long time. Czech is most like Polish in that it uses Roman writing instead of Cyrillic and Catholic not Orthodox/Luthranism is main religion. -Czech Girl
@gothika0akaisha Don't say that "German/Austrian is a second language of Czech lands." It'll confuse people into thinking that German in the second official language of our country, when it's not even present anymore.
@Debilkpohledani Well... I see what you are saying, but my grandfather is from Czech Republic and he speaks Czech, Slovak, German and Russian. My grandmother was orginally from Russia and actually came to Czech Republic illegally back in the day. She learned Czech language. Almost most Czechs (born and raised) that I know speak fluent German as well as Czech. That is my logical theory as to why they do. I think a lot of Czech people may have German ancestry as well, because of the history...
@gothika0akaisha Yeah, meny of us may have German acestry, but I live in Czech Republic near a border with Germany and everybody can choose in school if he want to learn English, German, French or Russian language. And almost nobody can speak fluently in German. :)
@VytlemskissaCZ Ah you chose English I see ;-). Well My family did (especially the older ones) and they are from Prague (not near boarder). Also family friends usually did too. Maybe depends on each family then. Maybe because they are from the capital? I really don't know I am making guesses because I only visit. I was born in California in the US. :-) I can probably be very wrong. But my original purpose was to say that there was big difference in German and Czech language.
@gothika0akaisha I know it's hard to tell, when you have never been there, I just wanted you to know the truth. :) BTW, I'm not good in history, but I think till 18th century was there only German as official language, but than Czech became official. I don't know since when German isn't offial, but I think it's so since the end of the 2nd Word War, cause most of German people had to quit this country.
@VytlemskissaCZ Sorry answered short because I was out the door for a moment. You know I wished I could ask my grandparents but they have already passed. My cousin and her family (from Russia) still also learned to speak French even though French had ceased to be the diplomatic language since the last Czar. My grandfather had a government job, so did his associates, maybe this is why most of the Czech people I came to know spoke German or learned German. Perhaps it was benefical for them.
@VytlemskissaCZ I am getting a degree in History so I can teach the High School. I was just watching today about the Russian Revolution. There was a battle between the Czechs and Red Army around WWI... I wasn't really paying attention to it. It was kind of background noise while I was playing with my baby. haha So I will look more, but the Russians were fighting the Germans at the same time, though Czech and Germans were not allies. So maybe they left before WWI?
@gothika0akaisha Well, it was really problebatic. During WWI we were part of Austria, which started the war after a king was killed by a terrorist and "Germany" was an ally. After the WWI Austria fell into pieces and The Czechoslovakia was established. During the WWII Germany occupied the land around the border whith Czechoslovakia called Sudets and all Czech people had to move out from there. Then Hitler slipted The Czechoslovakia into "The Protectorate of Czech and Moravia" and Slovakia...
@VytlemskissaCZ ... so after the end of WWII Czech did the same thing as Germany in the beggining of the war and Germans had to move out (actually if they proved that they were fiting for Czechoslovakia, or they married some Czech they could stay). The End :) But today the two countries cooperate in many things.
@VytlemskissaCZ It's so funny how under this video this history discussion came about. Oh one thing I remember on that show I was watching was that Czechs were fighting with the Russians against the Germans in WWI. Then when Lenin and his "social experiment" started to get too radical for them (I think) they decided to fight against the Russians or something like that. I wish in the United States we learned more Eastern European History. It seems pretty interesting. (continued)
@VytlemskissaCZ (2) I would have to take this course in college. I tried looking for something like it this semester, but it was not available at my school at this time. If they can't fill the class they cancel it. I saw Russian History and it was canceled because not too many people wanted to take it last semester I guess. I don't know why! It's so interesting! Well to me it is... I guess here not so much. Funny thing too. I am orginally born and lived in California. (Continued)
@VytlemskissaCZ (3) When I joined the Army as a medic I had to move to Texas to be with the 1st Cavalry Division. I did not know how big the Czech population was in Texas! It was very ironic that I moved here, seeing that a lot of my family is from the Czech Republic. I was very surprised. But, there are Czech food places, stores, all kinds of things. especially near to where I moved next to Fort Hood. :-)
@gothika0akaisha Well, I heard that many people moved out from here after WWII, because they didn't want to be in a socialistic state (if they could leave). Many famous (at least in our country) people also left. Some of them went to German or Austria due to their work and they stayed there (for example Karel Kryl), or they weren't allowed to come back (Pavel Kohout etc.). And I think that most of them went into USA.
@DiamondDJandSound Thanks, but I am a "sis" not a "bro." Yes, every other person and I who knows Czech or German (or can tell the difference) knows she (the Czech singer) is singing in German. I never said it wasn't incase that is what you were thinking... The conversation kind of took another turn after awhile. German does not even sound like Czech. Czech is a Slavic language... German is... well Germanic. LOL! But there are people in Czech Republic who learn and speak German.
@gothika0akaisha "But there are people in Czech Republic who learn and speak German."
If you consider how much of your "country" has always been part of the German nation and how many Germans have been unjustly kicked out of their homes after WWII, I think it's the least you could do, to maintain a bit of what has shaped yor "country" for so long!!
Killermiez...You should be fair and write in the headline, that the vid shows not Marta...and that you are using the music of Apocalyptica and Marta for your own video.
I don't know whether it's the best song version or not. I just believe that the French version is more glamour, but on the other hand this one is certainly more sorrowful and powerful. She's a very good singer, gifted with a cool voice and amazing boobs as well xD

i thought the german version would be better than the french, but surprisingly not... Don't get me wrong German people and things are way better than french

@LukasoCZ proč s apocalypticou?vždyt sandra byla z guano apes :D

Super, isn't it? :D But I don't like germany in this song. I think this language isn't good with apocalyptica :/:(

The best and most rythmic of the 3 one. But still, the English/french video are WAY better.

I prefer the french version, but this one isn't bad either... don't like the English one at all though

Chapeau!
