He has incredible vocal control. How awesome. No auto-tune needed here. This is when people used to have real talent. I do think it's sad that the word "Oldies" is streaming across the screen. This song used to be brand new, jackass.
Black is black I want my baby back It's gray, it's gray Since she went away, Ooh-Ooh What can I do 'Cause I'm feelin' blue If I had my way She'd be back today But she don't intend To see me again, Ooh-Ooh What can I do 'Cause I'm feelin' blue, yes I do
This was originally done in 1966 and made the top 10 in England and the USA. Los Bravos is the original 1966 band for this song. Del Shannon did a good version of it in his concerts in the 1980s.
Hey peoples: Haven't heard this song since 1966..one of my all time favorites... to those of you who are expressing negative views towards Germans all I have to say is..who the hell are you? his voice is great...and I personally think Germans are great...we're all on this trip together called Life and no one is better than any one else. So, rock on, chill out, party on and quit making negative comments re those who are different than you ..that is the ultimate show of ignorance on your part.
Redbirdgirl88: I am so thankful I grew up in the '60s...music was fresh, innovative, and there was so much going on in this country...so many changes....I recall our local rock radio station would print out a Top 40 list every week. It was a veritable who's who of all the great musicians of the time. If you took just one of the songs on the list and played it today as if it were new it would fly to #1. I agree 90's music was crap and this decade hasn't done much better.
Redbirdgirl88: It was great back then. so much soul we could hardly keep up with it. Thank God that thru the internet we can relive those days; I feel like I'm 15 again. Young kids are getting turned on to all
that great stuff. Dusty was unbelievable;a Brit who could blow away any soul singer from the South. Do you have the LP "Dusty in Memphis"...it's a classic..gotta check it out...she died way too soon..I think of cancer. And the Beatles??? what can I say..they changed the face of music.
@ Redbirdgirl88 your taste in music sounds great. do you know about the" Northern Soul" scene? i think you'd love it :) search for "the night" by frankie valli or "love love love" by bobby hebb for example.
Never knew the dude was German. Seen some good concerts in Germany. For some reason, we were always able to get pretty close to the front. Maybe that's the way the Deutchers are. When this song came out, my 7th grade Spanish teacher played this song for us in the language lab.
@teldito Wrong my dear friend.....!!!!...Los Bravos fueron de extraccion Espanola.....y grabaron mucha mas musica, pero "black is Black fue la mas bonita y mas conocida...Ya oyeron "You make me feel so good"?.......esa fue bastante buena....oiganla y ya veran.......Yea...Los Bravos also recorded a good song named "You make me feel so good"...great song indeed...just listen to it.....
@blakeythebull yeah i agree maybe one of the toughest crowd's ever think someone blew thier nose thats about it from the audience , is such a beautiful song.
There's a real story about these boys, they where here in Antwerp in the sixties, they heard the song playing out of the Juke-box (of my godfathers cafe" Sportif at the statiestraat) and they came in and gave a life show the whole day & night and danced flamenco with my mum.You can image how quickly my godfathers cafe was full with people, nice and very friendly boys:The Los Bravos!
nice "live" version. drummer looks like he checked out for a while after song became a hit but still played drums like original. thanks for posting clip.
this song was sung by seyyal taner who was ex-wife of guitarist of los bravos. If you write "seyyal taner " to searching tab ,you will watch a crayz show ....

They just used a Mexican name for the band.

Not too long ago I saw Los Bravos on German Tv and they sang this NR. again,
Live! And This singer has a fantastic voice,he can STILL sing exactly as he did here n the video! I think that's amazing!
Any singer deserves respect when he can sing like he did in 1966 !!!! So to me they are still 1 of the best in showbizz!
