Easily on of the 5 greatest songs of the 80's. This is first version I heard of this song. Stopped me dead in my tracks. Through this song I began exploring Joy Division and The Smiths.  I have still only ever met one person that has heard this song. Someday I will have a band that covers this and I will be in total bliss.

Chameleons are good, but anything done by Edward Ka-Spel is better; Tear Garden, Legendary Pink Dots, his solo stuff.

I used to have a 2 hour cassette of Peel sessions/Piccadilly sessions etc. that I bought in the underground market, pretty close to Fop and the supermarket. I used to play it all the time but it disappeared about 15 years ago.

interesting comment...listening to this version its somehow "cleaner" if you know what I mean...the album version is heavier mix more atmospheric perspective like a chiaroscuro at sunset....when the line "if this is the stuff dreams are made of" finally breaks to "no wonder...."....I've turned off the lights on my motocycle and throttle up at 3am

Yes I know what you mean. Anyway, both versions are outstanding and I bet there will be some who prefer the original from ASFTB and other the PS' one. In my case, I belong to the second group.

When I referred to a must have, it was because I bet less people know about this album than any of the other, and knowing all the songs were released previously wouldn't take a look maybe thinking it's just a compilation.

You're right about The Fan & The Bellows LP. One of the songs is in my channel.

@djscotty1111 - it is my friend and vinyl as well. I actually own it on cd. Its hard to find--found mine a month ago in Amoeba Records in Hollywood. I paid $20 for it. Its worth owning--trust me. Its on Dutch East India Trading / Strange Fruit label serial # DE18114-2. Best of endeavors--

No, the Chameleons have split twice and given the strong tensions between Mark Burgess and Dave Fielding I am afraid there will never be another reunion. I think the band you probably mean is "ChameleonsVox", which is basicly the Chameleons with other guitar players. Everyone who has seen "John Lever's 2nd Skin" (basicly the same concept) performing live will be quite sceptical about that. I hope that at least ChameleonsVox will have more competent personnel on guitar.
