I watched the strum carefully. I believe that there were two strums: the first one he made with his fingers, the last one followed a moment later, and was made with his thumb.

I've watched most of Sungha's videos, especially his more recent ones. I'm no expert, but I don't believe he uses much in the way of special effects.

I think he does use some effects on his video's, it explains how he gets such different timbre's from the same instrument.

For this video he's plugged into an amp and I'm guessing the echo is the reverb.

However I don't think Sungha uses any effects which he can't create naturally, ex. a whammy bar or a distortion pedal.

i believe just some sort of reverb, if you watch his right hand he strums the strings with his fingers, and than has a following strum with his thumbpick. hope this helps

acoustic guitars can be played surprisingly loud although it could be using some sort of software where they essentially plug in the guitar to the actual camera's sound system.

Well i know that, I play acoustic guitars after all, but seriously, you can barely see the cable coming out of the end of his guitar. It's especially noticeable that it's plugged in when you hear the him tapping the guitar. Besides, I have never heard a guitar that sounds that crisp and clean unplugged let alone through a video recording.
