I remember when I saw this on Tv one time had never played FF before. I decided to get it because it looked cool and I LOVED it! My next ff was X and then I think it was VII CC. I will always love this game! And hater, I don't think you can really hate on the story of this game or even the OST. I didn't really care about the linear paths and I liked the battle system. Hope has the girliest and most emotional name for a guy I've ever seen plus he's just a winey bitch, and Snow is the generic "hot guy". There was lots of emotional pains trials. The only darkside this game had was with the most girly smiley and brightest character in the game.

@Regal4point1 errm no... i completely disagree, only bad characters were irvine and selfie, laguna, kuro and ward were awesome, raine and julia were great, rinoa is my favourite female ff character, squall is a reli great protagonist, edea is alright, zell is a bit annoying, quintis is cool, and omg biggs and wedge were amazing, not quite as good as the turks from ff7, but still a great reoccuring boss, reli entertaining... same with zorn and thorn from ff9..

I think the reason this game did so poorly in the states is because they tried to hard to Americanize the game instead of leaving it in it's (obviously) Japanese roots... These are anime characters (they behave, look and talk like anime characters) but they look so realistic and their speech thrown in makes everything feel awkward. STOP TRYING TO CHANGE YOUR GAMES SO MUCH SQUARE!! LEAVE PERFECTION ALONE!!

But, what I meant was when a Japanese game is presented to an American audience, and translated, sometimes something gets lost in translation and there's a bit of culture shock and the game may appear awkward to people well adjusted to more westernized games like you see from franchises like Call of Duty, Halo and stuff like Rockstar releases.

There is almost nothing worth quoting in FFXIII and most of the story must be understood from reading the datalog... I don't wanna read a datalog... I want the characters to have long and detailed conversations about what's going on.. I felt FFXIII did a terrible job at explaining the story through writing and dialogue.

@Iconoclast12100 ok i can agree that they screwed the dialog up, but they did not change the game play (which has the best rpg system i'v ever tried), also in FFXII-2 the need a better voice actor for serah, i know she is supposed to sound more mature but her voice sounds boring to me. noahs voice sounds fine to me. the might be the only gripe i have with it so far it looks good, lets hope they get the dialog correct.

@killertelletuby23 Long and detailed voiced dialogue with a lot of different voice actors is probably not going to happen due to costs and budget issues... Which is why I would rather just go back to having text dialogue like in the old games, and just have great dialogue during cutscenes... That way we can have great speech overall without spending all the money on trying to make the entire game voiced, and just voice certain parts of it...
