actually you can trace using photo shop, just create a new layer on top of the picture you want to trace, then draw on your picture. once you feel you have traced everything, just remove the lower layer
I'm still using Photoshop Elements 4.0 to make my patterns, and it works fine. I do however like the idea of having the "trace" feature, not included in PSE 4.0. Some awesome tips here Steve!
