Wait, in that quick little part on the tenth fret on the A string (the first thing oyu play in the song (and that repeats itself through out the song) do you play the C four times or five? because ive been playing it five times and it sounds a little off.

there are times when you should use a pick and times when you shouldnt. for this song you would definatley want a pick but for like a jazz song you should use your fingers. and it also depends on the person. so who cares. this guy did a great job.

i've never taken a formal music lesson in my life and i don't plan on ever doing so.

play however the fuck you like if it sounds good to you... some of the great musicians of our time (thom fucking yorke and paul mccartney to name a few) can't even read music and probably don't unnecessarily hold their guitar 'properly'

How can you misuse the Musicman StingRay, i mean it's good playin' and all, but you can't use that a good bass and put out this crap. And just wondering, are you using a pick? That's noobish, you're a good bass player if you can play without a pick and play as fast as you would've done with one..

I don't understand this purist (use your fingers..) approach to bass playing. If it sounds good with a pick I'll use a pick and vice versa. I checked out some of your videos and you're in no position to pass judgement. In a few years when you develop a style I'm sure you'll be able to kick my ass pick or no pick. P.S It's a cheap nasty stingray copy I'm using if that makes any difference.. Peace out.

You can play with a pick if it is appropriate, and when Flea uses it he uses it in a setting that is appropriate for example when he is going to play something in a more punk style.
